Has there ever been an AIBU thread where the other party have found it and responded?

Not really ATAAT but just reading a thread where the poster was renting an inherited house out to a friend for well below market value and then the friend moved out when asked to pay a higher rent.

For some reason it got me wondering if the friend found the thread, what would their response be? And subsequently got me wondering if there's ever been a thread where a poster was having a moan about another individual and that individual had found the post, realised it was about them and responded?

Yes, tends to be a sock puppet though.

christmasfairy22 · 01/01/2023 21:29

I think the non-sock puppet ones get pulled by MN pretty quickly because it usually kicks off!

autienotnaughty · 01/01/2023 21:30

What's a sock puppet?

PinkCosYouAreSoVery · 01/01/2023 21:32

@autienotnaughty Its where the poster posts under one username, then posts again in response under a different username. To garner attention. So following on from that, also interested to hear about any socks puppet threads too! Can you tell im fed up with TV tonight?!! :)

As above. Trolls pretend to be the other person.

CornwallLass · 01/01/2023 21:41

I'm a headteacher and a parent came on to complain about an issue at my school. After initially getting lots of sympathy, the mood changed when I gave the other side of the story and the thread got removed 'for privacy reasons ' very quickly. In a very small school it led to some rather awkward drop-offs for a while! To be fair, we never really moved past it, as she had been very clear in her opinions about me, and she eventually moved school.

MaitlandGirl · 01/01/2023 21:43

@CornwallLass that must have been so awkward and potentially very damaging to the school of the papers had picked it up.

Makes you wonder if anyone has taken legal action over a mumsnet post that has been poached by the tabloids.

Stichintime · 01/01/2023 21:44

You're a Headteacher who responded to a parent on mm? How did the governors respond to that? Doesn't sound very professional.

CornwallLass · 01/01/2023 21:51

I suggested that rather than posting identifiable details on social media, she might want to approach me directly to discuss it. I also corrected the false statements which had been made.

CornwallLass · 01/01/2023 21:53

To clarify, it was not about her child, but about things which were allegedly happening at the school.

FantaTv · 01/01/2023 21:56

I’ve seen it a lot of the ‘AITA’ threads on Reddit but never seen it here myself

Soubriquet · 01/01/2023 21:58

Yes. I remember one where someone was posting about a woman walking out of a cafe,
leaving a full plate of food, because her toddler was crying.

She was furious that the sound of her precious little baby, made another woman walk.

The other woman found it and said she had autism and the sound of the crying child set her off.

Bicurator · 01/01/2023 21:59

I remember one years ago when the owner of a cafe being slagged off came across the thread and gave a very different side to the story

That was incredibly unprofessional of you then.

QueenofLouisiana · 01/01/2023 22:02

There was one, a long time ago, where the OP had an issue with a sister I think. Then the sister turned up…

JM10 · 01/01/2023 22:02

There was one last year about someone doing archery webinar a lady was walking her dog and how unsafe it was then the chair of the archery club came and said they owned or rented the field or something and it was signposted, which was backed up be several local mumsnetters. I didn't read it all, but I think that was it anyway.

AuntieDolly · 01/01/2023 22:03

The woman complaining about archery taking place in the park where she walked her dog. Turned out she was walking her dog on the archery clubs field!

NotAnotherBathBomb · 01/01/2023 22:05

There was one recently about a field with and archery club and the OP was saying it was really unsafe and claimed that there wasn't a sign (or that it wasn't clear or big enough or something) and included a screenshot of the aerial view of the field.

Then the guy who ran the archery club turned up and showed the un-cropped aerial view of the field Grin it was rather entertaining.

Not sure if it remained up

JM10 · 01/01/2023 22:05

Snap 😂

Whoops just posted this 🙈

NotAnotherBathBomb · 01/01/2023 22:09

I just searched the thread stand corrected, it wasn't that the OP had cropped the photo, it was that they'd edited the photo by blacking out 'identifying info'...that info being the clear label that it was an archery club 😂

Newyearhappy · 01/01/2023 22:12

I'm surprised there aren’t more TBH as some of them are so identifying.

CornwallLass · 01/01/2023 22:15

Pumperthepumper · 01/01/2023 22:00

That was incredibly unprofessional of you then.

So should I not be allowed to post generic factual information about my school, then?

Shesasuperfreak · 01/01/2023 22:19

Yes years ago thread started by a women saying that she a child eating a unhealthy meal deal for breakfast on the bus.

The child's mum came on and called her out for lying saying her child was eating xyz she wondered why there was crazy women staring at her.

Lost123454 · 01/01/2023 22:21

The only post I've seen similar to this was about archery being done in a local park

A woman gave us some details as to why it was so dangerous to others and then somebody who'd obviously been tipped off by a reader came on from the archery club and responded

Turned out the op had left out some very important details
