Has there ever been an AIBU thread where the other party have found it and responded?

Not really ATAAT but just reading a thread where the poster was renting an inherited house out to a friend for well below market value and then the friend moved out when asked to pay a higher rent.

For some reason it got me wondering if the friend found the thread, what would their response be? And subsequently got me wondering if there's ever been a thread where a poster was having a moan about another individual and that individual had found the post, realised it was about them and responded?

Horrified 😂

Actually tbh I’d laugh, get the popcorn out, and text a few other parents to watch the fireworks. Which I don’t think the school would really want either.

Me too, I can’t imagine being ‘Horrified’

Shame that there seems to be a growing view that "professionalism" for teachers means being an absolute walkover in the face of vexatious parents. Reminds me of another recent thread about senior leadership teams spending entire days investigating complaints where quite frankly the proper response would be to get the teacher's side of the story and then politely tell the parents to sod off.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 02/01/2023 11:21

I remember one donkeys years ago when someone was slagging off a childminder, If I remember correctly it wasnt even their dc's CM just someone from the school gate. The child minder showed up stood up for herself.

Perfectly said!

There was two yesterday! One about an author and the author came on the thread. And another where someone has changed their policy in on TRAs and had written an article. She posted on the thread too.

@Ban ooh I'd like to read that - do you remember the title?

Clueless. I'm guessing that both of you would be the first to complain if YOU were on the wrong side of a teacher (or doctor or nurse etc) behaving unprofessionally.

Put simply, there are rules for people in some positions whether you like it or not. And maybe it's only when you need them to behave professionally to you, that you appreciate that.

And you are basing that on what?? 😂 Assumption makes you look foolish, I have seen SLT rushing round looking into malicious complaints and more and more verbally and physically aggressive parents who believe their children’s complaints no matter how radical or how obvious an attempt to get out of trouble, you have NO idea! I refuse to go into detail for exactly the reason behind the topic of this thread but trust me when I say I am nothing like these parents.

VahineNuiWentHome · 02/01/2023 12:17

and made me realise how one sided alot of the threads on here probably are

All threads are one sided because what you see is how it looks to the person (removing people who lie or miss essential details). I mean if they had an excellent insight on how the other person is feeling/looking st things etc… they probably wouldn’t post!
Answers are also very one sided and people are projecting a lot too. I’ve posted before very similar issues and got opposite answers depending on the group of people answering.

VahineNuiWentHome · 02/01/2023 12:19

The one thing to learn from that is to name change often and never link whatever happens in here to your other SM where you full name is visible….

There was one before Christmas where a bride insisted all guests were to wear green. It went on for ages and The Op came on and said she had just had a message from the bride saying people could wear what they like. I guess she saw it, or someone told her

Oh yes! I remember that. The OP then bought a sage green dress based on the links other posters had sent her. I remember wondering if she was going to wear the dress once the green rule was abandoned.

I think some posters are over cautious - eg pointing out that the person starting the thread is using real names when they have already pointed out they've changed names and other identifying details. The ones that worry me are people posting about an abusive partner who also happens to be very tech savvy and could easily find what they have posted.

There was one last week where someone was dissing and author’s research and he turned up to defend himself . It was all good fun and very good natured in the end.

Was this the book that mentioned Mumsnet 😂

Ahhh so this is why no one posts what their DH’s “outing” hobby is 😂

It’s nearly always the cyclists who are total knobs!!

It would actually be more "outing" if the hobby wasn't cycling.

There are only about three men in the country who don't have cycling for a hobby, if MN is to be believed . . . 😀

DaphneFlower · 04/01/2023 15:42

Years ago on babycentre i was on a board where a woman was suspicious of her husband and another woman. The husband told the other woman what board his wife posted on on baby centre and she came on and posted on a thread about the wife's suspicions. Not sure what happened in the end. Maybe they split up

Someone once made a sarcastic comment about what these husbands' hobbies must be, coming up with something she obviously thought was vanishingly rare and outlandish.

It was my and my husband's hobby. I'm definitely not mentioning it now.

@ReneBumsWombats Morris Dancing? I ended up doing that for several years at one point even though I hated everything about it (I did Border.)

Emotionalsupportviper · 04/01/2023 18:16

Yes! Morris dancing! That's what we do!

OldFan · 04/01/2023 19:13

😃 I didn't like it but I liked folk/Regency etc. I preferred the tunes, costumes, and dances.

OldFan · 04/01/2023 19:14

Freaks in the Peaks was fun though.

Notellinganyone · 04/01/2023 19:26

I’m a teacher and once got involved on a Twitter thread about the worst INSET we’d ever had to sit through. I posted about a company called the resilience doughnut who were absolutely dreadful and another poster agreed with me. A representative from resilience doughnut threw a strop, demanded we identify the schools and then private messaged us with threats. Hilarious and ironic.

Mentalpiece · 04/01/2023 19:57

The post on the archery thread by a poster called SuperCamp absolutely creased me 🤣
