Did anyone else not realise that the film version of Matilda the musical wasn't being released on Netflix in the UK until next year? I was looking forward to watching it this afternoon. Is it just me?

Oh, I thought it was on Netflix now, I was planning to watch it with the kids in the next few days. It keeps being advertised on FB - just watching the clips with the kids bouncing around makes me feel exhausted! 😂

It's not on Netflix in the UK now, as it's still in cinemas over here. But it would seem it's available on Netflix everywhere else. Bizarre seeing as it's a British production.

Ohh how annoying. I've got vpn 360 and yesterday it was allowing me to see it and today it's not, having real problems.

Anyone else?

I think there is a current free trial at the moment with ExpressVPN

We saw it at the cinema last week. Dd2 particularly loves/loved Roald Dhal books. Both dd's 9&11 really enjoyed it.

I wasn't a fan, the songs were great but was keen on some of the character portrayals. It also seemed very long, I got bored a few times. I do love the 1996 film but it's a film from my childhood so always watch it with some nostalgia.

I really wasn’t keen on the American film of Matilda - I don’t think the Americans do dark kids humour well; everything is too polished, kids too perfect, baddies too comic. Their sets don’t give the feeling of the gritty stifling oppression our ‘heroes’ face. Although Lemony Snickett wasn’t bad.

It's clearly a widespread confusion. To the extent that Tim Minchin has tweeted about the decision made for it to not be shown on Netflix here.

I've got it but spent 2 hours trying to cast it to our smart Tv. Even bought an adaptor so I can plug my phone into to the tv via hdmi - the sodding thing won't work.

So annoyed.

We went old school and hdmi it from the laptop to TV.
