I nominate "Backdoor Lover" by DuJour from Josie and the Pussycats.

Very funny, totally inappropriate, and yet insanely catchy.

Are the Monkees a fictional band?

Last Train to Clarksville still sounds good to me.

SavouryFlavour · 20/12/2022 13:00

I vote for

noblegiraffe · 20/12/2022 13:00

I'd say The Monkees count as a fictional band who transcended the medium.

Scotty Doesn’t Know.

Also, 'Actually' by the Horrible Vikings. I still sing that to myself when no one's listening.

EncroachingLoaf · 20/12/2022 13:03

That thing you do - The Wonders

Servalan · 20/12/2022 13:05
Not sure whether the Aquabats are totally fictional as I think they tour, but this is a classic...
REP22 · 20/12/2022 13:05

The Weird Sisters "Can You Dance Like a Hippogriff" from Harry Potter, fronted by Jarvis Cocker.

JorisBonson · 20/12/2022 13:06

Everything by Gus's "band" in Love.

Marmite27 · 20/12/2022 13:06

Dingoes Ate My Baby from Buffy the Vampire slayer had a song on ‘Inca Mummy Girl’ that I love, but annoyingly can’t think of the name for.

Chickenwing2 · 20/12/2022 13:06

Oh and free love on the free love freeway by david brent Grin great song

ForestLilac · 20/12/2022 13:08

The great Edith Whiskers ⬇️

HyggeTygge · 20/12/2022 13:08

DuJour means seatbelts!
The Rutles were brilliant.

Black Sheep by The Clash at Demonhead, in Scott Pilgrim. Really it's by Metric, and sounds like it, hence why it's so good 😊

I also love the fake Goldfinger by Peter Serafinowicz as Ringo.

Yesssss, it's a work of art!

ShadowPuppets · 20/12/2022 13:09

Take Me Away - the song by Lindsay Lohan’s band at the end of the Freaky Friday remake - is insanely catchy 😆

DaftyInTheMiddle · 20/12/2022 13:10

You’re 5000 candles in the wind (bye bye Lil’ Sebastian) - Mouserat (parks and rec)
the album is great

BodGaoithe · 20/12/2022 13:10

Any of the weird songs in Pugwall! Also all the songs in the fake Eurovision Father Ted episode.

Pyjamageddon · 20/12/2022 13:11

Heal me, I'm Heartsick by fictional band No Vacancy from the School of Rock movie.

OH MY GOD, I mean Literally, not Actually... Xmas Blush

The shame.

WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay · 20/12/2022 13:13

Horrible Histories’ songs are great.

I also find “I gave you a UTI” from My Crazy Ex Girlfriend a lot funnier than I should:

The Weird Sisters "Can You Dance Like a Hippogriff" from Harry Potter, fronted by Jarvis Cocker.

Wow, that is a good look for Jarvis.
