What just happened?! I don't know what to make of this.

I've had the strangest experience tonight and I don't know how to explain it.

I volunteer with a charity, and tonight myself and 3 others from there went out to a pub I've never been to before for a pre-Christmas drink.

At one point I went to the toilet and as I was on my way out a woman was on her way in. We exchanged pleasantries and went on our separate ways.

About 5 minutes after I'd joined my friends, this same woman came up to us, and sat next to me on the banquette thing. She took my hand and said she had to tell me something.

It was all a bit odd, but I figured she'd maybe had a drink, and I had no objection to her joining us. But then she said to me that she had xxx with her and he wanted me to know that he was happy, that he loved me and that it was time I moved on. She was crying as she said this and I started crying too because xxx was the name of my late dh.

I have no idea how she could've known any of this. None of us knew her, I'd never been to that pub before, dh's name isn't wildly unusual but not that common either, why did she come and find me after our brief encounter in the toilet etc.

I can't get my head around it! Any ideas?!

This has happened to me before at a bus stop. Innocently sat there, hundreds of miles from home, woman beside me suddenly turned and said sorry to disturb me but she had a message from spirit for me. Absolutely spot on with details.

Unless you have had an accurate mediumship reading it’s easy to dismiss it. However she did tell me one particular thing that absolutely no-one knew that was very much on my mind at that time. She also knew that it was a very special anniversary which she would not have been able to guess.

I hope the message has reassured you rather than disturbed you OP. Some people do have a psychic ability and, while there will be many fakes out there, there are some very genuine people too.

It's happened to me, too.

I was walking with a friend through a local shopping centre and a gipsy (Yes, I know!came over to me (and only me) across the mall). She took my hand and said "This is just for you" My friend walked n a bit and then the gipsy told me something very personal and gave a bit of background detail (and no, we hadn't been discussing it - it was something I didn't talk about because it was private, though not anything to be ashamed of IYSWIM) and gave me some advice from "the other side" (though not from a particular individual - ie not my late mam, grannie or anyone in particular - just general).

It was really odd, I agree with you. Anyway, I took the advice because it was something I wouldn't lose anything by and it worked out well.

She didn't ask for money, I didn't offer anything, and as soon as she'd delivered her message she wished me much luck and walked away.

I read Tarot myself (for fun - I have always considered it a bit of fun, though it is surprising how often it can be accurate, which I have always attributed to a psychological effect) but I am very far from psychic though I have an open mind about things, but she convinced me that some people do indeed have a "gift" for want of a better term.

As opposed to lots of people telling you it’s nonsense how about you listen to her message instead. He’s happy, he loves you, perhaps it’s time to allow new love into your life. I see zero harm in embracing this as a message.

This. It’s a lovely message of reassurance and hope.

ElfShake · 14/12/2022 09:05

Social media apps often recommend ‘friends’ based on people you’ve been in close proximity to. Could be that you’ve appeared as a ‘someone you may know’ on her Facebook so she’s had a good snoop at your profile?

Verbena17 · 14/12/2022 09:06

I DO believe that some people can sense people who have died, however I wonder whether one of the women you were on a night out with had potentially set it up with that lady…..to help you move on.

Livingbyariver · 14/12/2022 09:08

like everything, you have believers and non believers.

xxx is giving you permission to move on, 🧡

Climbles · 14/12/2022 09:09

She might have looked you up online. Maybe when you passed going to the toilet she was memorising your face. She may have overhead someone you were with saying your name. These people are known to really go to extreme lengths. She may not have been trying to get money overtly but it all adds to their reputation and she might reply on people looking her up later. She might get a kick out of it too. One things for sure it’s a scam.

Judgyjudgy · 14/12/2022 09:09

I hope it gave you some comfort OP.

Gosh some of these responses are depressing. I feel sorry for some of you people, talk about glass half full if not empty 😕

absolutely! Great book

It IS a heart book!

Made me very glad I don't have psychic gifts, though! 😂

Emotionalsupportviper · 14/12/2022 09:10

*GREAT, not heart

I would absolutely hate to think my dead relatives were standing around watching me do undignified things when I think I’m alone 😖

Lol, but hopefully they’d have a sense of humour about it. One of my favourite shows on tv atm is Ghosts. I was slow to discover it but am so glad I did. Funny and Quirky.

Bizcoach23 · 14/12/2022 09:13

She’s a medium I’ve a few friends who have this capability it’s actually quite challenging for them to know when to pass messages on because clearly as you can see in this thread there are many people who think the item somehow fake or scammers but they do it because they have the gift and if she has and your DH is around you he will have known it was an opportunity to get a message to you. It’s not every day you’re in the company of a medium. My friends don’t do it for money they have no choice spirit talk to them and if they are near someone spirit want to get a message to they ask them to do it.

there’s no commercial gain and really everything to lose for them if the person isn’t receptive but it’s a beautiful gift for those who are.

Norriscolesbag · 14/12/2022 09:15

She wanted nothing from you and was spot on- seems totally genuine to me and I usually am very cynical about this stuff.

Ashard20 · 14/12/2022 09:18

This happened to me once, after a whole chain of events had, almost comically, delayed me from getting to a shop I needed to visit. Running out of time, I gave up and dashed to a supermarket instead. In the cafe afterwards, a woman started talking to me. She was a total stranger, yet knew so many very personal and specific things. For two or three days previous, I had been thinking randomly about how my dad used to line up all our shoes on a Sunday evening and polish them. The first thing she said after introducing herself was that she had a man with her who was telling her about polishing shoes in a line.
She also knew a lot of other very personal things and was compassionate and definitely not out to make money. She apologised for instigating the conversation.
There are very many things that we cannot understand or begin to comprehend and that is how it's supposed to be in this world. You can choose to rationalise these things and come up with scenarios that are frankly laughable, or, just once in a while, you can allow yourself to suspend "normal" understanding and take them as the signs of comfort and hope that they are meant to be.
Many bereaved people report little signs that loved ones are still around. Energy doesn't just stop - it has to transfer to something else, another form. We can't understand that yet - in our clumpy hard-copy bodies - but the human life force or soul, I suppose, is a more abstract digital version, in a way, if that analogy makes sense.

Re Ghosts. - Don’t watch the American version. it’s probably just because the original is so excellent, it seems dire in comparison!

I wind my children up by saying I will never leave them and will be watching one of them at all times. Ds always says, if I need the toilet, please haunt one of my sisters for 15 mins, don’t make it weird 😂

Badger1970 · 14/12/2022 09:22

I had a gypsy come into where i used to work, and I've never felt so strange in my life - it was as if she looked right into my soul and she knew the strangest things about me. She wouldn't take a penny from me, and although it really freaked me out initially, she also gave me great comfort.

I don't necessarily believe in people having a gift but I do think some people are incredibly perceptive? Who knows.

Chocolateandcherries · 14/12/2022 09:24

knittingaddict · 14/12/2022 07:00

It won't be genuine because none of them are genuine. People living can't talk to the dead. She might be mentally ill or a scammer or an attention seeker, but it will not be real.

Thinking about it, I feel quite angry on your behalf op. What an utterly selfish, insensitive thing to do to you. I'm sure she does it to others too with no thought for how confusing and upsetting it would be. Just so she can get her kicks. Self absorbed idiot.😡

Oh for goodness sake. This woman didn’t “get kicks” from it. What a silly thing say. She didn’t ask for anything. There are many stories on here where posters have given their stories and said “nobody knew” or “she could never have known”. Why is it so hard to believe that there is more to the universe that we understand?

lking679 · 14/12/2022 09:24

This happened to my mums friend in primark! It was the same her late dh, but the woman just said the message to her and then left. Didn’t want to share contact details or ask for money or anything.
Maybe it’s genuine…. maybe it’s a subconscious thing and they don’t know they’re ‘reading’ you. I think they feel compelled to tell you.

whether you believe her or not it’s up to you, but hope you didn’t find it too upsetting.

Agree with this. I saw a medium once for my own situation however a message came through for a workmate I lightly knew.

I ummed and aaahed about passing it on as I knew this colleague was not in the slightest bit interested in wooooo subjects. In the end I sent a very carefully constructed message and it turned out the name of the person given was her father who had passed when she was fairly young. She replied very kindly and we left it there. To this day I’ve no idea of it gave her comfort or not but I was in such a conflicted state over it worrying that I hope I did the right thing.

Han99 · 14/12/2022 09:26

I'm very skeptical of all of these supernatural events. My daughter used to see (or believe she could see) some very strange things in our last house - a new build. From age 2 until the age of about 3 1/2 when she stopped 'seeing' these things but could remember them. Now she clearly has no real memories of it (age 8) but likes to tell the story and elaborate it vastly!! It was clearly not made up at the time due to the detail and the nature of what she could 'see' and her reactions when said thing was happening. I have no explanation for it but I'm much happier now that we have moved away.

October2020 · 14/12/2022 09:26

Your friends were talking about you when you were in the loo. This lady is fake. However - I'd trust however your gut reacted to the message to be how you proceed with 'moving on', or not. Psychics are a load of nonsense, but our gut is never wrong!

TheOtherHotstepper · 14/12/2022 09:28

In 1981, I had a miscarriage. By the early 2000s, it had passed into history. I had two DC and I had never mentioned the miscarriage to them, or to my now DH. A woman I did not know approached me at a social gathering and started talking to me about my baby in spirit and told me that she was being looked after there by Sarah Ann [surname] Sarah Ann was my great grandfather's sister who died in 1934 and her surname is unusual enough to be misspelt on most of the records, but this woman got it spot on.

She also told me something else, which didn't make any sense until,I had a DNA test done ten years later, which proved that we had a Non Parental Event in the family and our surname should have been something completely different.

Conversely, I worked with a woman who had undergone a traumatic pregnancy which had ultimately failed. She was desperate to be pregnant again, but the months went by with nothing and she was getting more and more depressed. I looked at her one day and I could clearly see a baby boy with red hair. Matthew was born the following spring and yes, he did have red hair.

Sunshine275 · 14/12/2022 09:28

I had an ex bf whose dad was in a pub and a lady walked over to him and said to him “I know you have doubts but he is your son” - this wasn’t in relation to my bf at the time but rather an older sibling who his dad didn’t see much but there’s always been doubts of paternity due to his wife’s infidelity. She always said a couple more things to him about his wife’s health etc. This other son very few people knew about and he lives far away, this lady was nobody anyone knew. So yes I do believe. This lady had nothing to gain, seek comfort from this.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 14/12/2022 09:28

Maybe it’s genuine…. maybe it’s a subconscious thing and they don’t know they’re ‘reading’ you

Yes. We all have this ability to an extent. You look at someone and you "just know" something about them - though in reality, you are subconsciously picking up tiny clues from their body language etc. Or you become aware of someone watching you when you have got your back to them.

I do not believe that our dead relatives are talking to us from beyond the grave, but I do belief that a few (a very few) mediums may genuinely believe they are hearing the dead when, in fact, they are just exceptionally good at reading people.

Han99 · 14/12/2022 09:30

I do remember going to a Derren Brown show years ago which was all about psychics and how they work. It was fascinating and incredible to see how his tricks worked on the more susceptible people in the audience and not at all on others. At the end he announced that he is no psychic or medium and all he has done is use your weaknesses and vulnerabilities to trick you for the last hour. A real eye opener.

Chocolateandcherries · 14/12/2022 09:30

“Energy doesn't just stop - it has to transfer to something else, another form. We can't understand that yet - in our clumpy hard-copy bodies“

Yes, that’s right. Although there are some people here who are so closed-minded that they cannot comprehend it. I just have to yawn at them. It’s not difficult to accept that energy simply changes form. It’s still there.
