Is it really the norm to be completely hair free for sex now?

I was married for 30 years, I kept myself tidy if I was likely to be going swimming but that's about it. DH never seemed to mind or express a preference for anything else.

I was part of a conversation with a bunch of middle aged, mostly single, admittedly quite drunk, men and women (don't ask me how the conversation came up!) and the consensus seemed to be that anything other than a completely hair free woman and a well trimmed man was "disgusting".

I've told them all Blush that if the ever get the opportunity (they won't!) they'll have to take it as it comes 😆

I really can't imagine setting myself up for that sort of maintenence, even if I wanted to, but is it really the norm?

I’ve had all of my public hair removed for the past four decades. It’s personal choice.

Do you show it to everyone? Grin

someone who can't find a clit without a big neon flashing sign.
Perhaps the poster should grow hair into the shape of an arrow?

Good oral involves SO MUCH more than just the tip of the clit! My goodness

Most women have hair growing on their labia. If your partner doesn't lick your labia while giving oral then they are doing it wrong 😆

Inner labia doesn't have hair. And that's the part you'd give oral to rather than outer labia

ExtraJalapenos · 10/12/2022 14:02

Don't know a single person who does 'hair free'.
I'm 35, DP is 26.
I'd be DEEPLY concerned if anyone thought hair free was the only option

Georgeskitchen · 10/12/2022 14:02

Pubic hair serves a purpose , it prevents chafing of the flaps against your underwear

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 10/12/2022 14:02

Oh my word are you all just having your partner lick the tip of the clit and nothing else? I'm sorry but that's very limited and you're missing out!!

it's perfectly normal for women to have hair grow on their inner labia, women's vulvas vary!

ArcticSkewer · 10/12/2022 14:03

I really do despair about the poor quality of both biology classes and men's attempts at oral sex, judging from these threads.

How they get stubble rash or lost in a pube jungle is beyond me.

Lol 😂

No, not the tip of the clit. Obviously.

what parts do you have hair on then? Everywhere except the tip of your clit?

news to you but it’s entirely normal not to have hair anywhere but outer labia and mons. The rest is hair free.

it’s also perfectly possible to have oral sex without shaving your outer labia, as the important bits are the inner labia and surrounding areas. Where there is no hair.

If it looks like a big hairy rat you should see a doctor

🤣😂🤣

Eh why would I want someone licking the outer labia? Especially long enough to get a sore tongue. He might as well lick my knee for all the pleasure I'd get from that.

Tripsabroad · 10/12/2022 14:06

I think DH would prefer it to go, but too bad. The idea of waxing is excruciating - arghh, I can't even type it without crossing my legs! And shaving regrowth is itchy and prone to ingrown hairs. Plus no hair is more likely to result in camel toe. I just don't understand how anyone can bear to do it!

I wouldn't touch it if it weren't for the fact I swim. So I do neaten it so it doesn't poke out. Based on communal showers, most people are bare or almost bare.

I prefer partners to be hairy. Manly, lol!

I don't bother anymore. Just a trim on a fairly low setting. I like men pretty trimmed as well, but still some hair.
Men trim now to make themselves look bigger for dick pics.

A thing you say without a shred of evidence. But good to get a bit of man-hating into your post.

Jewel1968 · 10/12/2022 14:07

As women get older they lose body hair so perhaps it's the older woman they fancy. Just thinking out loud...

Mine's only on the mons (I'd forgotten that word). Blondes are often not all that furry to start with. Ironically ... seeing as it's bloody freezing in winter here. You'd think we'd have better protection.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 10/12/2022 14:09

Honestly I don't care how you guys have or give oral sex but I really dislike the a) assumptions about how other women's bodies look and b) assumption that women only remove hair for male pleasure. It's childish and patronising.

CarefreeMe · 10/12/2022 14:10

I’m just imagining what I would do if a man started licking my pubic hair! 🤣🤣

Maybe every women should keep their pubic hair as a guide of where not to lick!

RosettaStormer · 10/12/2022 14:10

I can also remember when the NCT campaigned for women not to be shaved before giving birth. i'm surprised so many people know whether other women do or don't remove hair. It's not a conversation I have ever had.
I have a wax before holidays, bikini line and legs. I shave armpits and always have done. I once shaved off pubic hair as an experiment and didn't like it. I find the hairless trend really peculiar. Trim and shower, that's all that's needed.

Jaxhog · 10/12/2022 14:10

Until men are willing to trim their hair below the neck - so no.

tectonicplates · 10/12/2022 14:11

ArcticSkewer · 10/12/2022 13:54

omg that's hilarious. Your clit is not hairy 😂God wouldn't be that cruel

Or if it is, then you need to see a doctor asap.

newtb · 10/12/2022 14:12

Removing all public hair can lead to clitoral damage and reduced sensitivity. So, it's a 'no' from me.

For the PP looking for a word to describe different requirements for MEN and women. What about sexism?

Chesneyhawkes1 · 10/12/2022 14:13

I trim mine into a neat little landing strip.

When I had pelvic radiotherapy it fell out. But it did grow back, luckily, else people would have mistaken me for a child 🙄

blossomsinwinter · 10/12/2022 14:14

A midwife I know said most younger women do appear have hair removed, but not quite so many of the older women. Cultural influences also played a part apparently.

This was a good few years ago though. I don't know if the trend is still as prevalent.

Summerfun54321 · 10/12/2022 14:15

Totally hair free was trendy for a while but definitely isn’t now - like vajazzling! Younger women are much more confident in being casual and don’t feel they need conform to certain gender or sexual stereotypes.
