Is it really the norm to be completely hair free for sex now?

I was married for 30 years, I kept myself tidy if I was likely to be going swimming but that's about it. DH never seemed to mind or express a preference for anything else.

I was part of a conversation with a bunch of middle aged, mostly single, admittedly quite drunk, men and women (don't ask me how the conversation came up!) and the consensus seemed to be that anything other than a completely hair free woman and a well trimmed man was "disgusting".

I've told them all that if the ever get the opportunity (they won't!) they'll have to take it as it comes 😆

I really can't imagine setting myself up for that sort of maintenence, even if I wanted to, but is it really the norm?

I'm 53 and trim a bit, but my two adult daughters don't. They both have boyfriends/sex lives, too. One doesn't even do her armpits.

Because in oral sex on a man you aren't generally licking the area that is most hairy so trimmed is fine. On a woman the partner is licking areas that usually grow hair therefore smooth is better than trimmed, if you like the sensation.
giving oral sex to a woman who has long or stubbly pubic hair is sore on the tongue and therefore can't be kept up for long. I prefer my partners to keep going 🤷🏼‍♀️

I try to keep a happy medium. I personally love the soft feeling of a full bush and am very lazy so that’s suits me but do try and keep a bit more trimmed for dh as. he would often refer to it as my 70’s ‘look’.. I did go through a stage of going completely hair free but found that, especially mid cycle, I would end up feeling quite chapped and a little sore down there. Not sure if that’s just me and my weird body though?

Our sociology teacher said this to us at 6th form in 1990 - which was startlingly inappropriate obviously 😱 but to give him credit he was one of the male teachers devoted to his same age wife, not one of the ones known to date his students or recent students!

I wonder if it's a fashion which people rebel against, creating a cycle, just like other fashion cycles...

I prefer to have less pubic hair, sometimes I'll just trim sometimes I'll get rid of the whole lot. DH has no preference at all, I just prefer how it feels. DH does also trim again for his preference not mine.

Most men do not like completely hair free pubic areas for obvious reasons.

I find too much hair uncomfortable and so I will go completely hair free on my pubic area if I am single but will always let it grow back slightly before having sex.

I always remove the hair on my underarms and calves and usually leave a strip or triangle of pubic hair to feel comfortable.

I remove all body hair now. I used to just do it in summer because it was cooler but now all the time. Though I'm almost post divorce, happily single and not looking for a new relationship. It is just a personal preference.
