Is it really the norm to be completely hair free for sex now?

I was married for 30 years, I kept myself tidy if I was likely to be going swimming but that's about it. DH never seemed to mind or express a preference for anything else.

I was part of a conversation with a bunch of middle aged, mostly single, admittedly quite drunk, men and women (don't ask me how the conversation came up!) and the consensus seemed to be that anything other than a completely hair free woman and a well trimmed man was "disgusting".

I've told them all Blush that if the ever get the opportunity (they won't!) they'll have to take it as it comes 😆

I really can't imagine setting myself up for that sort of maintenence, even if I wanted to, but is it really the norm?

Isn't a bald fanny a bit middle-aged and dated now?

Yep, in my 20s, it’s definitely dated (but I have an IPL and zap everything below the neck because I have very spiky, coarse body hair and feel more comfortable with it off!)

Most friends in my age group have body hair, a lot went through a phase of intensive styling eg dyed colourful pits or pubes, even heart and star shaped bushes, seems like all the effort of bonsai pruning hidden under a pair of pants but they liked it!

WaddleAway · 10/12/2022 21:30

Yeah I’d say it was dated too. Being completely hair free seemed to be a big thing about 10-15 years ago, not so much now.

JackTorrance · 10/12/2022 21:30

I quite like the sound of nice colourful pits!

If your friendship group are hippies then yes this might make it seem like the norm to you, I am also 20’s and don’t know anyone my age who has visible body hair. Friends all shave or wax, co-workers my age and a bit older mostly wax or have laser treatment

Benjispruce4 · 10/12/2022 21:39

@Baconsprouts what sort of chats do you have with co workers?

Benjispruce4 · 10/12/2022 21:40

I have no idea what my best friends do with their pubes either! Why would I!

Normal ones? I’ve not worked anywhere that your colleagues don’t know more about your sex life and habits than most of your friendS!

There are memes about this it’s that much of a ‘thing’

Benjispruce4 · 10/12/2022 21:40

Memes?

Ah you’re just old, makes sense

Benjispruce4 · 10/12/2022 21:41

I work in primarily school and it’s not staff room chat, that’s for sure!😂

WaddleAway · 10/12/2022 21:41

I work in financial services and we’re generally too busy to chat at all!

Benjispruce4 · 10/12/2022 21:42

Thanks @Baconsprouts I’m 51 and hey you’ll age too!

Benjispruce4 · 10/12/2022 21:43

Your workplace sounds unprofessional to me, nothing to do with age.

name78change · 10/12/2022 21:43

I work mostly with men, so no funnily enough I do not talk about my pubic area with them, but I'm clearly not the Kool-Girl the young @Baconsprouts is Wink

Makes sense now why you find it alien to discuss sex with friends and colleagues and body hair with anyone too

I find it really funny when people use what they perceive as old age as an insult.
It happens to everyone (well, if you’re lucky). I’m mid 30’s and don’t chat to coworkers about sex or body hair. I work in a really busy, professional environment and it just wouldn’t be appropriate.

All of them are unprofessional, wow didn’t know one of the largest banks in the world, one of the largest FMCG multinationals and tech companies are all unprofessional.

DM works as a stockbroker and she gets a lot of sex based gossip at work, so no it’s not an age thing, as she is older than 51 but still manages to grow with the times

girlmom21 · 10/12/2022 21:45

@Baconsprouts I'm 27. Is my opinion relevant?

You're rude, unprofessional and downright grim. Normal people don't discuss their sex lives, bodily hair or anything else with their parents or colleagues. It's weird.

We’re apparently similar in age and I genuinely would be so disturbed if my colleagues started talking to me about my sex life

My friends know all, I guess we are ‘hippies’ though apparently 😂
idk if you’d call a wardrobe from dollskill or similar hippy, and tbh thought that term was a 1970s thing anyway

Benjispruce4 · 10/12/2022 21:45

As I thought. You’re just rude and inappropriate @Baconsprouts .

Who said it was an insult, it just means it makes a bit more sense why that poster finds it odd for people to talk about sex, body hair or what a meme is

So why are you making ageist comments saying the previous ops are "old" if it's not an age thing?

JackTorrance · 10/12/2022 21:47

Baconsprouts 50 odds is a Gen Xer, I can assure you they've grown up talking about sex.
There's a time and a place though. Work doesn't tend to be that place.

I’m at ease talking about sex, just not at work.
