Continuation of previous thread.

Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

I heartily recommend this, bought on the recommendation of someone in That Place:

www.lakeland.co.uk/25246/dreamland-alaskan-husky-faux-fur-heated-throw

murasaki · 09/12/2022 14:02

Thanks, without even clicking on the link yet I want to be a faux alaskan husky!

Winterborne74 · 09/12/2022 14:52

Oh here is where everyone has got to. I missed the move. Am in a south facing room, so even though the heating isn't on the room isn't that cold fortunately. Downstairs is perishing.

Ginmonkeyagain · 09/12/2022 15:12

Erk! that throw is about three months heating costs for me, so i think i'll pass!

Winterborne74 · 09/12/2022 15:27

How is everyone doing emotionally after the events? I expected to be over it by now - but am still pretty cut up. Less so by the absence of JTT, and more by the sense of betrayal, the brutality and the sheer shabbiness of it all. The way we were treated was very unkind. I'd like to stop revisiting what happened in my mind, but am finding it difficult to let it go.

Kucingsparkles · 09/12/2022 15:28

The main thing putting me off from buying a heated throw is that I know we'd have to buy more than one, because everyone will be scrapping for it. We're getting by with normal throws and the woodburner.

We have two (although not so fluffy as the husky one) and each is shared by one adult and child, so we can all use them at the same time.

If I'm reminded of it, I feel mightily pissed off at the cowardly hypocrisy of the whole business. But otherwise nah, not bothered anymore.

That's where I want to be - I need some funny threads to snap me out of it.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 09/12/2022 15:39

I've got the considerably cheaper 'velvety' rather than 'husky' version of that throw (last year's model - no fast heat setting, but it's virtually instant).

I've not left-left the other place yet, but am feeling less drawn to visit as time goes on, and less still to actually post. There are a couple of support threads I may continue to lurk in from time to time to see how people are doing, but I have no urge to chat more generally.

Shabiness is an excellent description of how I feel about it all. Everything over there is tarnished. I stayed on some of the information threads for a bit, but I kept getting part way through typing a post and thinking 'Actually, you don't deserve my time.'

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 09/12/2022 15:42

Which is a fairly extreme reaction for me. You may have noticed that I love explaining things, and normally it's quite difficult to make me stop.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 09/12/2022 15:45

It's odd isn't it bint? and particularly fratchety today from some reason, maybe the weather.

Winterborne74 · 09/12/2022 15:47

And we (I assume I am not alone in this) love your explanations, bsop - so long may we continue to benefit here.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 09/12/2022 15:50

Anyhow, keeping warm - today was the first day I lit the wood burner straight after breakfast, rather than managing with the central heating (thermostat right down to thwart Vlad Putin) and my trusty woolly poncho.

I've put an electric underblanket on the bed too, mostly for warming me up for my drinking tea/ listening to the news/ playing solitaire session before I get up.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 09/12/2022 15:50

Thank you, Winterborne. I do sometimes worry that on the web I can't see whether people's eyes are glazing over, but then that's what scroll wheels are for.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 09/12/2022 15:54

bint, you and your brain are a constant delight.

duc748 · 09/12/2022 16:03

'Tarnished' is an appropriate term, I think. It's pretty much how I feel. I've looked in a couple of times, caught up with the lifeboat thread there, but don't really feel the urge to post any more.

SinnerBoy · 09/12/2022 16:21

Shabby, tarnished; good adjectives. I personally feel it was squalid, to boot.

Kucingsparkles · 09/12/2022 16:50

The old place will be a lot poorer for losing @BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn 's explanations, that's for sure!

I was reading this thread yesterday @Winterborne74 and chuckling along because we have so many items like this. www.mumsnet.com/talk/_chat/4692992-shit-items-that-you-never-replace?

I second what Winter says, your posts are very informative, and Kuc's too. I do like a good explanation, and you are both very clear. Don't stop.

duc748 · 09/12/2022 16:57

I read the first page of shit items you never replace, waiting for someone to say, 'husband'. But nobody did thus far! 😀

Sashohoho · 09/12/2022 16:59

I am keeping toasty through my electric throw and Oodie and Afghan type socks.
I don't have the gas on much, but am heavy on my Dimple eco heater, and the past two nights have had it in the bedroom. It turns itself on and off. The new dehumidifier is pulling water out but quite slowly. I hope it's low on leccy as since I got it I've not turned it off.

Also just got a room thermometer, which in the warmest room is 16.1 with an RH of 55.

Never in my life have I been so interested in heating.

BinkerTell · 09/12/2022 17:54

I am always in awe of how you know so much about so many things, @BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn

I had pretty much stopped posting, only posted on a couple of threads anyway which I felt a bit on the sidelines of as (a) I have been struggling with my health and therefore didn't have the time and energy to post and (b) have been busy with work and other life stuff. When I stepped away, no one seemed to notice so that sort of confirmed it.

SinnerBoy · 09/12/2022 18:22

I saw this and you sprang to mind, particularly:
