Continuation of previous thread.

Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

Wow, that is way too pretty to eat.

Tricyrtis2022 · 19/12/2022 16:41

Wow, that looks amazing!

SinnerBoy · 19/12/2022 16:54

Your gingerbread house is much tidier than ours!

Kucingsparkles · 19/12/2022 17:12

Shucks 😳It's a much-loved annual tradition ChezKuc.

The actual house structure is courtesy of a set of silicon moulds from Lakeland (we got it a decade ago, but I think they still sell it); just make the dough according to the provided recipe, press it in and bake. Then we stick it all together with royal icing and let the kids go to town on the decorating. They've got a lot neater with each passing year.

Gorgeous! My grandchildren in NJ had fun making a gingerbread farm with animals yesterday - 10 year old Em decorated the cow, 7 year old C decorated the roof rooster and 4 year old El did the sheep. Dd-i-l did the pig.

Aw, that's lovely!

Kerebus · 19/12/2022 17:45

Loving the gingerbread Fresian!

Winterborne74 · 19/12/2022 18:10

Clearly identifiable udders! That bovine is definitely a lactator.

duc748 · 19/12/2022 18:15

My son just sent me a pic of a non-binary gingerbread person he bought. But as I said to him, some of this is no joke.

CyanCyan · 19/12/2022 19:03

Heart did a survey on this

I adore that gingerbread farm!

When we were first dating I bought Mr Monkey some VERY BINARY iced gingerbread people from a bakery in Soho for a jokey Valentines day present.

I popped them in to his work bag with a card. Red faces all round when he got one out in the office to have with his morning tea break.

CyanCyan · 19/12/2022 20:50

How deeply exclusionary and bigoted of you.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 19/12/2022 23:19

Lovely gingerbread creations.

Re Leftie, I don't think anyone knows - Avon had an off-board contact route and tried to get in touch, but without reply. I'm pretty sure the recent 'Leftie' posts were fake. And if the nods had any way of checking that I don't think they should have been permitted.

Re hospital food, I know former poster SisterPhonetica (vegan) always had to take her own supplies if she didn't want to starve. And former poster Oomi, who ate anything had absolutely terrible food when he had his motorbike accident. He was in for weeks and I doubt he had as many as 2 portions of vegetables the whole time he was there. It's not a new problem. When I had my appendix out in the 90s they didn't manage to feed me at all over the 4 days I was there. Partly lack of suitable options but mainly a ridiculous meal-ordering system.

IReallyLikeCrows · 19/12/2022 23:28

Today has been quite the palaver. I waited in from 0800-1300 to get my broadband set up. Decided to call at about 1320 - I was on hold for quite some time and the bastards whamageddoned me - eventually got to speak to someone and ... Went to the email. January 19th, not December. FFS. The call handler was lovely and told me how to go about getting broadband from a phone shop. I'm now on a monthly contract with 3 and frankly, if it stays as good as it is now I might well just stay with them. I treated myself to an evening of TV. The "celebrities" on Christmas universally challenged verged on thick as mince.

I've just heard that Terry Hall off of The Specials has died and it's made me quite sad.

Britinme · 20/12/2022 03:09

I'm in touch with Avon on FB and Twitter.

Dotellhimpike · 20/12/2022 06:33

Yeah Terry Hall, it's funny the ones that hit you hard. Ghost Town was their smash hit but his solo effort Ballad Of A Landlord has long been one of my favourites. such a heartfelt voice. 63 ffs.

Tricyrtis2022 · 20/12/2022 08:13

He was in for weeks and I doubt he had as many as 2 portions of vegetables the whole time he was there.

That sounds like a vision of Hell. I saw a photo of someone's hospital meal a while back and it consisted of a slice of breaded fish, baked beans and a Yorkshire pudding.

The morning after my appendix removal they were wheeling the tea trolley around and I called out as they didn't look like they were going to stop and the man told me I was 'nil by mouth'. I was so desperate for tea I actually howled so they relented. It wasn't good tea but it was at least Tea.

Leftie is a mystery then, so be it. There must a few wondering as she posted a lot at one time.

Ginmonkeyagain · 20/12/2022 08:23

I took my friend a platter of vegan sushi and a tofu salad (her choice) and she was very happy. London is luckily bursting with tasty takeaway vegan food.

Luckly she has been sprung out this morning and is now home.

I have never been in hospital and have not really set foot in one for any amount of time since thw late nineties. I see they are still heated to a setting hotter than satan's bollocks.

Kucingsparkles · 20/12/2022 08:24

Bah on your mixed-up broadband installation, @IReallyLikeCrows, but glad to hear that mobile broadband is working well for you. ChezKuc we've actually discussed ditching Virgin (bastards keep putting the price up) and opting for 5G on many an occasion; there are reasons to have a physical link-up to the Internet IIRC (will have to ask my brother to remind me) but my god it is tempting to tell Virgin to FTFO.

OP posts:
Ginmonkeyagain · 20/12/2022 08:30

5G FWA is supposed to be quote good but I think you need to check the reliability of the signal.

If you have issues with mobile signal in your area/house I would hold out for a fixed broadband connection.

Kucingsparkles · 20/12/2022 08:39

Oh, we have really marvellous mobile signal here. There were other reasons why fixed broadband (at least if you have high-speed fibre, as we do, bastard VirginMedia) is more reliable if you can get it, according to my brother.

OP posts:
Ginmonkeyagain · 20/12/2022 08:46

Oh yes, fixed is best for reliability. FWA is often the alternative option for people who cannot get fixed connections easily.

Kerebus · 20/12/2022 09:21

V sad about Terry Hall, I grew up in Coventry and, despite being a metal/prog fan, 2 Tone was very much the sound of my city during my youth.
