Continuation of previous thread.

Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

Thank you, will go and look now.

Tricyrtis2022 · 19/12/2022 14:43

Well, he's a bit of a case and no mistake!

Dotellhimpike · 19/12/2022 15:05

It's very easy to find.

Tricyrtis2022 · 19/12/2022 15:06

It is if you know what to look for, maybe.

Kucingsparkles · 19/12/2022 15:09

I only knew the Th*r story in outline, what a weirdo!

The thing is, although he become an unmentionble outlaw, I think he wasn't all that different from a lot of the entitled men children on there. And that they egged him on. There were and are delightful, sane, pleasant people over there, but the nasty bullies are becoming an ever higher proportion of the occupants, and recent threads indicate that at least some of them are moderators, which is insane.

If you put the name of a viking god alongside leyton and wanstead conservatives you should get a link to a news story which contains a full name, google that full name and be amazed at the stories.

Kucingsparkles · 19/12/2022 15:20

TBH I'm really liking it here and not missing the old place at all. If I had more free time, I reckon I could find hundreds of threads to lurk on or 👀at, and dozens to post on (not counting the ones I'm already on). So many interesting topics. And then we still have this thread to come together for old-style chat. I would miss you lot of wrongmos.

And I like being able to look at pictures.

Personally I'm more than happy to forget about that unpleasant individual, and leave him firmly in the past. But since there was just mention of him, I will say that if there's one person from the Old Place I do miss, it's Greenie. I didn't always agree with him, but he was a consistently interesting poster, who had opinions about issues I hadn't even thought to have an opinion about!

Britinme · 19/12/2022 15:24

@Kucingsparkles me too. I used to enjoy the whimsical Haven posts on GUT but on JTT when I went back there after a long absence I basically felt ignored and out of place. My husband still goes on JTT but has a limited set of threads (politics and weather!) that he sticks to. I find the breadth of topics here more interesting and I am enjoying still being able to interact with people I used to like reading on JTT, some of whom I've known since my Jenny28 GUT days.

Kucingsparkles · 19/12/2022 15:30

Exactly @Britinme! Also (I think I said in the first refugee thread in FWR) I really like that MN is "default female" - there are loads of blokes on MN, of course, but (for me anyway) on here my assumption when I see an unknown username is that she is a woman. Hard to describe exactly... but basically the opposite of what Caroline Criado Perez called the "default male" in how we automatically picture/label everything.

I am so glad I got them to nuke my username so I am not tempted to log in over there. I agree, this place has so much in it, I have been really enjoying the telly discussions. I miss the gaming thread from the old place but I think that's about it really.

There are probably gaming threads around here somewhere if you search, Pike.

Dotellhimpike · 19/12/2022 15:38

There are but I've been chatting with the people on that thread for years, I miss them. Not so much I will go back but they were nice people.

duc748 · 19/12/2022 15:42

I've dipped into a few different corners of MN too, and people have been very nice. But I am conscious of the fact that as Kuc says, this is a women's space. More blokes getting up on their hind legs and mansplaining is not required! And would certainly be given short shrift!

That's an interesting reaction. Not getting at you or any man personally, duc, but that feeling of hesitancy would be quite educative for a lot of men.

duc748 · 19/12/2022 15:46

Oh, I agree! 🙂

Tricyrtis2022 · 19/12/2022 15:49

pike, I did a search and found some fairly outlandish stories. What a way to live, eh. It doesn't sounds like much fun really, especially if you end up in prison.

Tricyrtis2022 · 19/12/2022 15:51

As has been said, I'm also enjoying this place very much. There's so much to read and then there's this cosy thread too. I feel like a drunk at a party saying 'Love you!' but it's a bit like that.

Dotellhimpike · 19/12/2022 15:52

The most adorable thing I've seen all year.

Tricyrtis2022 · 19/12/2022 15:53

Oh, that's delightful!

MissLawls · 19/12/2022 16:18

I like it here too. I feel more relaxed. And there doesn't seem to be a Cavani is tired type thread where posters go to bitch about others. Never understood how Johnny could call those of us on the women's rights thread bigots who should've been drummed off the thread but was quite okay with a thread that was entirely about being cruel to other posters.

Dotellhimpike · 19/12/2022 16:26

And had mods posting on it.

DDs have finished decorating this year's gingerbread house.
