Continuation of previous thread.

Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

Woke up to snow this morning! Haven’t had snow here since Badger was a puppy.

That's a photo of pure joy!

duc748 · 10/12/2022 14:34

The women's rights thread does indeed seem to be going well, with some good contributions. MN is vast, isn't it? Haven't really been on the old place lately, but always thought Carlos was a GBOL. Perhaps I'd rather not know who's making the 'cess-pit' comments. So depressing. But fuck 'em, eh? In cheerier news, I've just twigged that the two mystery parcels that arrived this morning are probably Secret Santa's from the home brew forum! 👑

BinkerTell · 10/12/2022 14:36

@IReallyLikeCrows We would love to come and visit. I have a couple of other friends in Worthing and they love it there. It will have to wait until I have these migraines under better control as I can't commit to anything right now, have just recovered from a ten day extravaganza.

@MavisMcMinty that is wholesome pure joy! Cocker or Springer? I want a spaniel soooooo much.

MavisMcMinty · 10/12/2022 14:39

Springer, Binks. My other springer’s son.

Apparently you can also eat dahlia flowers and their tubers. Fuchsia fruits are nice.

I have been to a foraging place in woodland near us where they teach you to make a fire using flints then cook delicious food over them. They said they often cook with a wild herb called ground ivy which is a relative of mint, and has a lovely fresh herby taste.

It will be nice to have an Anchorman-free gardening thread, Kuc...

SinnerBoy · 10/12/2022 14:50

Ground Ivy is an ingredient in Buckfast wine. When I saw it, I thought it meant ground as in by mortar and pestle.

I is like well fick, man.

That sounds exciting, hope you get something you want.

Tricyrtis2022 · 10/12/2022 14:58

Ground ivy looks like an interesting plant and a useful herb, if you're into that sort of thing. pfaf.org/user/Plant.aspx?LatinName=Glechoma+hederacea

One bottle of Leffe Blond (7.2%!), and one bottle of oatmeal stout. Decent pickings! One lucky punter out there will have scored a bottle of parsnip stout! 😀

Ginmonkeyagain · 10/12/2022 15:28

Gorgeous doggy pics.

I am having a slightly better Saturday now as my toilet flush has mysteriously started to work again (only after I booked a plumber for next week. Obviously. 🙄)

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 10/12/2022 15:31

Anchorman is over authoritative on the garden thread, but I forgive him because he was so kind and supportive for his mother during her last years - I know how submersive the home care route is and have great fellow feeling. He also speaks supportively and respectfully of older women he works for. One of the good blokes.

ALSO people should stop dissing cesspits, many a happy day have I spent in them, many a happy week looking down a microscope at stuff sieved out of them. They're a product of a desire to keep the surrounding clean and improve human health, and full of data on human diet, farming, environmental conditions, garden weeds, crafts, textiles, health and lots more. That those blokes/that bloke (no idea who) fails to appreciate them says it all really.

I still drop in on the archaeology thread in the other place - I'm sure the views on cesspits there are sound.

I've got the fire on, this was our garage roof ten minutes ago:

Quite why the dog needs sunglasses indoors at this time of year... :

And I'm sure that these were mentioned not long ago:

Tricyrtis2022 · 10/12/2022 16:06

elderberry, I recall he was another in favour of us being hounded off jtt and that sealed it for me. That he was supportive of his mother and the elderly ladies he works for doesn't make up for that. Not for me, anyway.

CyanCyan · 10/12/2022 16:08

It’s the fire @SinnerBoy, it’s blinding through that sparklingly clean glass

Tricyrtis2022 · 10/12/2022 16:08

Sinner, the dog needs sunglasses on indoors because your daughter says so!

duc748 · 10/12/2022 17:00

Well done you plucky Moroccans! 😀

Tricyrtis2022 · 10/12/2022 17:04

Eh?

SinnerBoy · 10/12/2022 17:20

CyanCyan · Today 16:08

It’s the fire...

Ah, of course!

SinnerBoy · 10/12/2022 17:21

Tricyrtis2022 · Today 17:04

Eh?

They've beaten Portugal in the Big Ponces' Big Kickyball Competition.

Tricyrtis2022 · 10/12/2022 17:26

Ah, Foot the Ball!

SinnerBoy · 10/12/2022 17:31

I'm waiting to see France beat England in half an hour. I don't want France to win, but am a realistic pessimist.

Tricyrtis2022 · 10/12/2022 17:34

I like this.

Just noticed that you have to click the pic to see the full image. It's the words that make it funny.

Ha! 😀

SqueakyDinosaur · 10/12/2022 17:55

I am still lurking in the old place, but haven't posted since the thread of evil got canned. Luckily for me, I'm already in contact with most of the people I care about in other ways, largely because my two most sociable threads were Lost and WDYDLN, and posters of both meet regularly in real life.

I was genuinely shocked by JtS's intemperate words and actions. I'm unsurprised by the number of people, especially men, who just know that we're Wrong and Mean, without having ever read or thought about the subject. I am very pleased that the likes of popstar and Carlos are still standing their (our) ground.

Oh, and in case anyone didn't realise, I'm HelenD. I changed my name here (from VaginaRegina) because very few posters, even in FWR, seemed comfortable responding to it. Slightly ironic.
