Looking for advice on this benefit.
I applied for this just over 2 months ago, I sent 3 forms of proof of illness and had a video call appointment to confirm identity.
I called social security Scotland to check my process of claim and they say it’s awaiting a case manager.
Does anyone know how long I’ll be waiting for a decision?
Seems a very long, drawn out process.

Just checked in with ADP. My re-determination was completed on 2nd. (55 days out of the 56!)
Updated on the system yesterday and letter sent out. He wouldn't give me any clue as to the outcome. He told me to expect the letter within the week but wouldn't say whether to watch the bank or anything. So I will let you know.

Auldspinster · 04/10/2023 14:47

Not rtft but mine took about 6 months in all.

MamaClause · 04/10/2023 16:40

I applied on the 23rd of April. My application went to a case manager at the start of August, and on Monday was passed to a decision maker to finalise and check they agree with the cm decision. God knows how long left I’m looking at 🥱 anyone else have any clue how long the final sign off took?

Update; just checked my account and there is £2958.95 pending for Friday.

I wonder if anyone can work out my rates? I applied on 23rd April. I’ve tried working it out, it’ll be a few days shy of 24 weeks and the closest I could get was enhanced daily living with standard mobility which came in at 3087.60 so 128.65 difference 🤔

so relieved to have an award, but confused.

im due the Scottish child payment, but not until Monday so don’t think that would be included?

thanks

Rocksdad · 04/10/2023 17:56

When the initially paid my low rate living it wasn't the exact weeks of payments from application to payment in the back pay. Then I got the 4 weekly payment like 3 weeks later. So you may be right as almost a week shy but then you'll get the 4 week payment about 2/3 weeks later, maybe?!

MamaClause · 05/10/2023 05:39

Yeah I think you’re right, it’s basically exactly a week shy. With my son’s CDP he got the backdated payment and a few weeks later his 4 weekly payments started. Just feel relieved I got awarded; it’s such a long slog when you’re sitting in limbo for so long.

mami2015 · 05/10/2023 09:32

I think you got £26.90 lower rate mobility and £101.75 enhanced rate care = £128.65 multiplied by 23 weeks = £2958.95

MamaClause · 05/10/2023 14:36

Thank you! got my letter in today and right enough, lower mobility and enhanced daily living. Also found out I got enough mobility points to qualify for a blue badge, it’s going to make my life sooo much easier!

As far as I'm aware you'll be "requested" to apply for PIP when your child reaches 18. I don't believe Westminster/DWP has any plans to change the process

Hoping things change for the better for you

It’s not 18, it’s 16. PIP is payable to those of working age - so currently 16-66, although if you’ve claimed before retirement you’ll still get PIP as long as you’re still eligible.

Hello,

I have been following this post with interest, and I am looking for advice if at all possible, I applied for ADP on the 28th of June, of this year, I have spoken to them on the phone a couple of times and via webchat too! I have uploaded a lot of supporting information as well as prescription lists, the last conversation I had was last week via webchat, I was told that my application was in the correct work queue, and if necessary someone would be in touch either this week or next week! During the webchat the advisor did say that that SSS was working on application forms from 31st July, and that my application was placed in the correct work queue🤷🏼‍♀️ on the 7th August, as they had to process all the supporting information that I had submitted, any help or advice that anyone can provide with regards, to when I will receive a decision would be most welcomed and thank you for listening. 🌷

Allyballybee445 · 06/10/2023 10:06

@Piseag123 Time frames seem to be different for everyone some people get a decision in 4 months others like me can wait over 7 the information I receive via web chat differs each time at present my claim is being looked at by a case manager and has been at that status for over 2 months.
I hope you get your decision soon

Allyballybee445 · 06/10/2023 10:56

@Seryse Hopefully they will manage to get the redetermination done within the time frame this time.

Hi I was contacted by the case manager 4 weeks ago to provide a letter from my psychiatrist which I sent in Monday. I phoned this morning and have been told to exp t a letter late next week, keeping my fingers crossed. I applied in Feb and that's it just been signed off now Confused

Piseag123 · 06/10/2023 15:27

@Allyballybee445 same to too and thank you for your response 🌷

Fingers crossed for you. I applied on November last year and have had multiple muck ups during the process, it's been a right drama lol (I won't spam it all again but if you scroll up you'll see the mess they've made with mine). Sending positives thoughts and hoping you get yours quick!

hopeforlucky3 · 09/10/2023 15:02

Hi guys just an update from last week. I called on Friday and they said my letter had been sent out the expect late this week. I received it this morning I have been awarded high rate for both. I will receive my back payment Wednesday and then my benefit starts 2 weeks following this.

I'm a bit overwhelmed I always put off applying as I didn't think I was entitled, I work full time as a nurse but have suffered with illness for as long as I can remember. This money will lift a huge cloud for me.

Piseag123 · 09/10/2023 15:52

Great to hear that @hopeforlucky3 well deserved too👏! I applied in June sent in a few pieces of supporting information, I was told that I would hear something either last week or this week, hopefully I will hear soon! Can I ask how long did you wait overall? TIA 🌷

hopeforlucky3 · 10/10/2023 08:21

@Piseag123 9months in total from me submitting my application. They originally had the wrong address for me. It was sent to the case manager at the beginning of September. They contacted me to get a letter from my psychiatrist giving my diagnosis and medication I take for it. I submitted this evidence last Monday and by Friday when I called they said a decision had been made and to expect the letter the end of this week. I got the awards letter yesterday and will receive my back payment tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed for you Smile

Gs72 · 10/10/2023 10:59

Hi I first applied for adult disability back in May and used a local advisory agency to fill out my application but we ran out of time so she asked me to sign and date it and use the information off my universal credit claim which she also filled out for me months previously and she uses an office in my GP surgery and she could get relevant information from them if needed etc and if I didn’t hear back from her then I will know she would have sent it
9 weeks passed and I dropped her an email to tell her that I hadn’t received any confirmation that disability Scotland have my application as I had just read that you might receive a letter within two weeks to confirm your application.
To my horror she called me right back to tell me she forgot to finish and send my application so 9 weeks where totally wasted
its now been another 11 weeks since then and I received a letter yesterday saying that disability Scotland need to confirm my identity in a face to face meeting but with no time date or place where this will happen? All it says is that if I don’t hear back from them within seven days I’ve got to call a freephone number. it also states that this meeting shouldn’t last longer than 15 mins
i have read most of this thread and good luck to everyone else who is either waiting for an award or an appeal and I have read that a few of you have had an ID meeting but it’s been via webchat or at home so can anyone tell me more about these ID meetings and what happens after that?
thanks in advance

MamaClause · 10/10/2023 14:40

@Gs72 I had a letter for the identity check, when I called (because I didn’t have a time or place either) they said they can do video calls and it’s usually a two minute call. I get the Scottish child payment for my kids so because I get that, they just confirmed my identity via that. But I think it’s just to let them see you and that’s it. I thought it was going to be like the PIP assessment type of thing but it’s not

Gs72 · 10/10/2023 15:21

Thanks for your reply and it’s put me at ease as I thought it would be worse
I will probably just give them a call tomorrow and try and get it over with. Can I ask you if you waited long for a decision after your ID confirmation?

Piseag123 · 10/10/2023 16:18

@hopeforlucky3 thanks for your response and yes fingers crossed I hear soon 🌷

GrandTheftWalrus · 10/10/2023 16:52

I applied in August and not received anything to say they've even got the application. I doubt I'll get anything anyways as my condition that I needed the payment for is starting to improve even though I'm still off sick.

Piseag123 · 13/10/2023 19:44

(Follow up message on here, dated 5th of October), I contacted Social Security Scotland today Friday the 13th😱 via webchat this is the reply that I received:

“Your case manager reached a decision on your application this afternoon, I'm unable to discuss the outcome until you receive your outcome letter with all the details. Due to the time of the decision this letter is scheduled to be posted on Monday and if you have not received that in 2 weeks from then please get back in touch.”

So I don’t know if it’s a thumbs up or thumbs down any advice would be most appreciated. TIA 🌷

Allyballybee445 · 13/10/2023 23:31

@Piseag123 hope you get a good decision keep an eye on your bank account lots of people get the back dated payment before the letter.
