Looking for advice on this benefit.
I applied for this just over 2 months ago, I sent 3 forms of proof of illness and had a video call appointment to confirm identity.
I called social security Scotland to check my process of claim and they say it’s awaiting a case manager.
Does anyone know how long I’ll be waiting for a decision?
Seems a very long, drawn out process.

Update-

Got a letter this morning, they've awarded the enhanced rate of daily living, but no mobility. It'll be backdated to the 29th of November 2022 (when I originally applied) and the award is for 2 years so I'm already anxious about the fact its technically only a year now. They really need to address some of the issues, the amount of added anxiety this application and wait caused me was unreal. I want to appeal the mobility part as i feel that's a bit meh, but the anxiety in me says just leave it alone and make do. I should be happy now, but its just left me even more anxious and confused about what to do lol. Fml.

@Seryse that is good that you’ve received something, however, if you mobility is also an issue then it may be worth pursuing, only if you want to and is there anyone that you could ask for advice? I can fully empathise at how stressful it is. Sorry I’m not more help 🌷

Literally been so much stress since I applied in November. They declined it at the end of July a few days after phoning me and asking me to get my medical records which was really odd. I sent the redetermination back straight away and got a letter back saying they hadn't done it in the 56 days (or whatever the number is, my brain is literally mush with all this) so now I can go straight to tribunal (which terrified the every loving fuck out of me), next day they phoned and asked if I wanted to extend the redetermination so I said okay. Then this morning that letter. Head is absolutely spinning, there has to be a better system, this was absolute torture so i cant imagine how badly its affected other people. Going to phone citizens advice tomorrow and see what they say about it all.

Seryse · 14/10/2023 16:38

Those who got their award backdated -

Did it tell you on the letter how much and when it will get paid for the backdated amount? I'm a little confused as it says the award is from 29th of November 2022 and I will be paid my usual monthly thing on x date (can't remember the exact date, head is spinning lol) but no mention of the backdatd amount and when that will be paid?

Piseag123 · 14/10/2023 17:47

@Seryse Citizen Advice is a good shout, I’m sure your award should be backdated to November 2022 if that is when you completed your first part of your claim, I do hope someone else on here will be able to advise if this is the case. I just heard yesterday that my ‘outcome’ letter will be posted on Monday 16th October, CM had just made a decision yesterday afternoon, so I’m don’t know if it’s a yes or no, as I thought ‘outcome’ letter sounded a wee bit negative or I could just be reading too much into it! I do hope that you get the advice you seek! As it does sound as if you’ve had quite a time of it🌷

Fingers and toes crossed you get the outcome you want ❤️ A friend of mine was told her "outcome" letter was posted but they wouldn't say anything else, and he's was awarded, maybe it's something they aren't allowed to say over the phone or whatever. Keep thinking positive thoughts!

Allyballybee445 · 16/10/2023 12:20

@Seryse Bitter sweet news you must be so relieved you got a positive result but if you feel you should have been awarded something for mobility even though you are exhausted and fed up you should get some advice and try and get what you are entitled too .

I tell myself just to wait but it is so stressful I find myself on the web chat most weeks just trying to get an update,
They are now awaiting supporting information from my GP they may wait a while it has been over 6 years since I have seen a doctor.

mami2015 · 16/10/2023 15:43

16 weeks and 6 days ago I done my ADP review online. Just spoke to someone via webchat and got told that someone is looking at it now. As soon as a decision is made they'll send a letter out.

Piseag123 · 16/10/2023 15:45

@mami2015 fingers crossed that you receive good news, I was told on Friday that my ‘outcome’ letter was sent out today 🤞

mami2015 · 16/10/2023 15:50

@Piseag123 did you get a back payment yet?

Piseag123 · 16/10/2023 16:06

@mami2015 no as I’m not sure as to whether the outcome is a thumbs up or down! I’m holding my breath! I applied in June sent in supporting information spoke to advisor via web chat on Friday the 13th and they said that the CM had just made a decision that afternoon and my outcome letter was being sent out today so kinda in limbo, I think it’s the waiting that does it for everyone!

mami2015 · 16/10/2023 16:10

@Piseag123 I would check account on Wednesday. As far as I know it takes 3 days for money to get into an account after they send it

Piseag123 · 16/10/2023 16:21

@mami2015 will do and thank you, and I hope you receive some news soon too, as I believe that they are trying their best to increase processing times 🌷

mami2015 · 19/10/2023 10:41

Just off webchat. My review was assigned on the 19. 07. 2023, a case manager should look at it "very soon". They have a large backlog due to the amount of reviews

Piseag123 · 19/10/2023 14:10

@mami2015 hope you hear something soon🤞, received my outcome letter this morning, only received 6 points for daily living and 2 for mobility, didn’t take into account my heart condition or my asthma, putting in for a re-determination has I’m not happy with this outcome! Just wondering how to go about it or the best way forward stress is through the roof!

mami2015 · 19/10/2023 15:38

@Piseag123 try the website "benefits and work" .

Piseag123 · 19/10/2023 15:40

Thank you I will try them 🌷

Rocksdad · 19/10/2023 15:40

When I put my re-determination in, I was originally given 11 points daily and no mobility. I submitted re-determination and got 18 points daily and 4 mobility and I didn't even give any further supporting information. So now I'm going to appeal. As nothing to lose by not.

SSS advised I call CAB and get help to word application better. I did. CAB person said I likely didn't get mobility cos I told them I had a dog. 🤷🏻‍♂️ they can't give me an appointment til December and it will be over the phone only appointment as they're inundated with ADP applications. So I have done a lot of digging and there's a company called Voice Ability who will help you complete your re-determination and/or appeal and they're meant to be great. They will come to your house to help you. I only have a week to submit my appeal so I have done it all myself. Hope that helps.

Rocksdad · 19/10/2023 15:58

@Piseag123 sorry that above message was for you. Try Voice Ability.

Piseag123 · 19/10/2023 16:00

@Rocksdad that has helped a lot, I will certainly give them a try and very best of luck 🤞

Piseag123 · 19/10/2023 16:01

@Rocksdad 👍

Rocksdad · 19/10/2023 16:14

@Piseag123 their whole system is ridiculously flawed. Back in June I was told by my case manager - African man broken English - that I had submitted too much information and given him too much work and half my information was irrelevant. I officially complained as he couldn't understand me on the phone but I had to trust him to understand my application 🤔🤔

Cut to 2 weeks ago when I called and asked about appealling, the woman said by reading your notes, it seems like you didn't supply enough supporting information. 😳😡 Although I submitted 84 pieces.(reports, medical records, statements, texts, etc etc that ADP told me to send lol) I was always assured the case manager would call and ask for clarity from me or my support people/shrink/OT/GP etc and they never reached out to anyone.

I now have a further 20 pieces of supporting information for them. And a 8 page letter to the tribunal people with a detailed time line of events and calls and complaints and the likes. I kept a record of every call and web chat. I have written a cover letter for every piece of information too as to why I have submitted that as evidence.

ADP won't send me my paperwork as it's not for my perusal. They've sent the re-determination form back to me (not arrived yet) as she took that over the phone and I've no way of knowing what she wrote although she read it back to me at the time she was going to type it up after the call. So be interesting to read that.

Bunch of arseholes out of their depth. Lol

Piseag123 · 19/10/2023 16:26

@Rocksdad my goodness that’s a lot of supporting of information that you’ve submitted and are about to submit, your stress levels must be through the roof, and you are right what have you got to lose, as it does sound as if you are getting conflicting advice, which doesn’t sound very good at all!! It is rather strange that one CM is telling you one thing and another is telling you something completely different! This isn’t good at all especially when you are relying on them to be straight forward with you, as you are relying on them to make the correct decision, for goodness sake how much supporting evidence do they need!!! I really do hope that it all comes good for you! 🌷

Rocksdad · 19/10/2023 16:35

@Piseag123 yeah I'm going OTT on purpose. The first round of evidence was my medical file. I asked for a condensed summary and that's what the GP gave me, and was 70 pieces apparently. So add supporting statements and reports... Few pages each.. wasn't huge amounts on paper just added up when uploadin and again, they told me to do all this to make the process quicker and help then case manager out! Lol backfired big time when the woman 2 weeks ago told me "sometimes it's best to say nothing at all" lol

So now I have written statements from all people as well as the time line etc. I'm being a total dick on purpose as have nothing to lose. Especially when their tag line is Dignity fairness and respect... Nothing about them meets that tag line. A friend of mine had SSS come and complete her application at her house and she was awarded full daily and full mobility... Without adding support info OR any diagnosis of any kind. She claimed depression and anxiety and got full. AND she's a full time Tesco delivery driver!!! 🤣
