Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

Oh that’s great, I haven’t been able to upload photos to Twitter for ages, broadband usually too feeble. All 7 pups in that photo, my boy is top left, with the three black spots on his back. Admittedly it looks like a terrible dog massacre has just taken place, but they’re just full-bellied and sleeping.

murasaki · 29/11/2022 11:13

Adorable pups and mum there.

MavisMcMinty · 29/11/2022 11:13

Ah, I see that asterisks make things bold, how do we do italics here?

Tricyrtis2022 · 29/11/2022 11:15

That made me laugh!

Winterborne74 · 29/11/2022 11:19

It's weird how things can sour so fast

Yes, masks are off. Doesn't feel great - I'm very fickle and keep swinging back and forth. On the one hand, there are plenty of decent people still on the site. On the other, it's hard because the decent people went along with a purge, and showed no solidarity. It's a drama that is playing out across online spaces repeatedly, and it is so often the women who are shunned. How do they not see it?

Winterborne74 · 29/11/2022 11:22

Love the look of Badger and family!

For italics, you surround the thing with these: ^

Here’s the birthday boy with his first pheasant.

Can we delete posts here? Or edit them?

On a different note, I will now confess that ChezKuc we've been in Christmas mode for several weeks. In the form of eating ludicrous quantities of festive baked goods.

We even did a mince pie tasting league with a range of supermarket offerings. We did a random draw, partial-blind testing, score-sheets, the works.

If you want to delete a post, the only way is to report it to MNHQ and ask them to delete it. Also there's no edit function - your two options are (1) preview your post using the preview button (2) just let all the typos fly freely.

Sorry everyone, I’m so delighted to be able to post photos that I may never stop. Here’s my cat teaching the pups to sharpen their claws on posts. (I wish they’d been summer puppies, the garden looks so awful.)

OK, last one for now, the garden in summer.

Wow, Mavis, what a lovely garden!

artant · 29/11/2022 11:44

That’s a beautiful garden!

Tricyrtis2022 · 29/11/2022 11:44

Hard to resist being able to put pictures up.

Here's a combined one of part of the garden and a blackbird that kept staring through the window while we were eating dinner. There's more than one bird controlling us...

We have new windows now, thank goodness, and the draughty Crittall frames are no more.

Same. A few of the decent people have spoken up, but most not very loudly. A lot who I thought were decent have just shrugged and either can't be bothered to find out what went on, or have assumed that although they haven't ever seen any awfulness themselves it must have been there so people probably deserved it.

And although the lifeboat discussions include ideas about improving moderation to stop similar happening again, I think l Slicy's post today was the first one to actually suggest trying to involve the people who've left to see what could make them feel they want to return.

Swiftly followed by one of the sites biggest misogynists (in a crowded field) saying that inviting us would make other posters feel unwelcome by our very presence. We are unclean....

Hot off the press:

Just to update - an expanded Admin team are working with johnny to develop a tech, management and moderation solution, if we can. We'll let you know how it goes.^

Best of luck to them.

TassLeHoff · 29/11/2022 11:56

Oi! Who said "^" did italics? Or does it not like line breaks?

Tricyrtis2022 · 29/11/2022 11:58

trying to involve the people who've left to see what could make them feel they want to return

It's a bit late for that.

No.

That is all.

SinnerBoy · 29/11/2022 12:04

It's cheering to see all the lovely pets. I hope I don't offend, but my favourite is the robin.

I've just had to re-type, I tried to load a photo of mine, but everything went blank.

TassLeHoff · 29/11/2022 12:05

It's not exactly new. Here's part of an email exchange I had with one of the female mods 18 months ago:

I think that is what people are failing to understand. I am not unhappy or triggered by the presence of posters who disagree with me on gender and sex issues, even if they do so vociferously.

I was not even that unhappy with the suggestion the issue became a banned subject on JTT.

What I was unhappy with is the way a group of posters were corralled, denounced, abused and belittled for having a different point of view on one subject and that many posters either cheered on or looked the other way.

It was never about that one single issue for me, but about the way it was dealt with. Now I cannot trust those people not to behave in the same way again should another contentious issue arise.

weaseleyes · 29/11/2022 12:12

The whole thing remains hugely upsetting.

Still, I am cheered by being able to see photos of pets and awesome gardens. I shall attempt to include one of mine. Be warned, you may be scared by his extreme ferocity.
