Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

They are incredibly cute. I saw a little shoal of baby cuttlefish once. They were similarly transparent and also surprisingly cute.

artant · 01/12/2022 19:47

The baby stingrays are beautiful and also very, very strange. Aliens stuck
in ravioli is an excellent description.

CyanCyan · 01/12/2022 19:53

My first thought was ‘aliens stuck in a protractor’, haha

Kucingsparkles · 01/12/2022 20:46

Those baby stingrays are utterly amazing!

The baby sea-creatures talk reminds me of, as a child, witnessing a horseshoe crab mass-spawning on the beach near my uncle's house. A couple of weeks later, whilst making sandcastles, I dug up a clutch of eggs. They utterly fascinated me: they were clear spheres and inside each one was a tiny full-formed baby crab, the little creatures revolved round and round within their glassy prisons.

It seemed so strange that for many years I wondered if I'd dreamt them. But here they are on YouTube, tiny freaky exoskeletoned Aliens spinning in transparent balls!

CyanCyan · 01/12/2022 21:06

Mesmerising! I could watch them all day. I’m surprised how long they take to mature.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 01/12/2022 21:08

I found one of the energy saving hour threads in Chat, but it's quite small. However, it pointed me to this one: www.mumsnet.com/talk/cost_of_living/4667841-octopus-saving-sessions

So, my tabby female has a quite a lot of ginger in her coat. Loving the cats and am familiar with the British Blue but can't recall who you were. I definitely recall the dog and cats though. Great to hear about them again.

Apropos of nothing, I learnt that a Wood's lamp will detect urine. Worth remembering.
Also, Fenderstrat, read your post yesterday somewhere, hope it goes well for you.
I skimread the lifeboat thread, lots of verbose pontificating and lots of mainly men posting was the overall impression, before my eyes glazed over.
Ah, I need to upload my cat from my phone. Currently, on pc.

Saskihahaha · 01/12/2022 21:37

Here she is. A fair amount of ginger in her coat.

She’s gorgeous, like fur coat.

I was pomegranateplanet on the cat thread btw, not my main username but didn’t want to advertise to a certain lurker that I have something so precious. No longer an issue since we’ve emigrated, hooray.

Saskihahaha · 01/12/2022 21:48

Ah, thanks for clarifying. I remember you now, and your utterly gorgeous cat.

SinnerBoy · 01/12/2022 22:37

Crikey, there are some beautiful cats.

I've passed the Aliens Stuck in Ravioli to my What's App groups!

SinnerBoy · 01/12/2022 22:41

The horseshoe crablings are pretty amazing. They remind me of the cellar spiderlings I once watched hatching.

When I had decent eyesight.

Tricyrtis2022 · 02/12/2022 08:57

If you see a ball of baby orb spiders and blow on it, they shoot out on lines in all directions, rather like a firework going off. It was a real surprise the first time I saw that.

Here's my dog, Daisy. From about 4 years ago.

deeangelico · 02/12/2022 09:08

Blimey, sinner. Daisy looks like a no shit dog.

SinnerBoy · 02/12/2022 09:14

She's a bit grey round the gills these days.

StephanieSuperpowers · 02/12/2022 12:10

So here's something I've made into a quandry for myself (it shouldn't be one). Christmas dinner, bring your own wine resturant. What wine do you bring to look the following:

a. somewhat sophistimacated;
b. like you know these things;
c. not like you bought the most expensive wine for under a hundred because you wanted to appear (a) and (b) while being absolutely neither?

C. is obviously where I end up under my own efforts because normally, I'll drink what I'm given, and I have no idea. If I liked it, I can't remember what it was anyway - I forgot to get a photo of the label. Guided by my own tastes, it would be a solid g&t, every time.

Have you lot any ideas?

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 02/12/2022 12:12

Gah.

Had to give up dairy recently, after my allergy to it got worse. One of our local chip shops has an excellent range of veggie and vegan options - with a dedicated 'no meat or fish' pan. But I think they fry the halloumi in with the veggie chips, and even that is enough to trigger a reaction. So no more chip shop chips.

mach2 · 02/12/2022 12:13

Aldi Barolo - £15 ;-)

StephanieSuperpowers · 02/12/2022 12:14

Sounds great, thanks Mach!

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 02/12/2022 12:14

Barolo is a solid call.

What sort of food?

StephanieSuperpowers · 02/12/2022 12:15

I heard of a barolo by watching peep show and given the context, I expect it's what people who know stuff drink!

StephanieSuperpowers · 02/12/2022 12:16

It's a very midprice menu, broad. A steak dish, a salmon dish, a couple of pasta dishes. 3 course set menu, £45.

Kucingsparkles · 02/12/2022 12:17

So no more chip shop chips.

Noooooo! That's a tragedy!

Our local chip shop died last month - the whole chain has gone into administration, so they had to close all the shops including the ones that were still making money. We are suffering terribly :(

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 02/12/2022 12:20

Valpolicella ripasso is another good red. Should go with steak I think, and tomato-based pasta dishes.

If you're likely to be having the fish or a creamy pasta then white or rose would be better - will have a think* about specifics.
