Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

Lovely, Splatts!

Kerebus · 30/11/2022 21:26

OMG I've just discovered the Am I Being Unreasonable threads! Why wasn't I told? There's hours of vicarious entertainment to be had there!

MavisMcMinty · 30/11/2022 21:28

Oh yes, Kerebus, they are great! “I’m watching” half a dozen already.

dollymixedup · 30/11/2022 21:32

We did have an AIBU watching (and discussing)thread in the other place!

I missed that.Damn.

Winterborne74 · 30/11/2022 21:48

And like a lot of our threads, it was good at magpie-ing in on the highlights!

Dotellhimpike · 30/11/2022 22:04

Some excellent photos of our furry overlords.

weaseleyes · 30/11/2022 22:42

That's some excellent dog-lollage there, splatts

TheMostBeautifulDogInTheWorld · 30/11/2022 23:06

Ha excellent hounds there Spallts.

Though it does remind of the time I took Madam (half greyhound) round to visit a friend with a whole greyhound, and by the time we had got the hounds comfy in their beds there was no more room in the living room and we mere humans had to decamp to the kitchen.

duc748 · 30/11/2022 23:18

Hello folks. I aleady checked in on the WAGSBR thread, but thought I'd say hello on here too. Username as close as I could get.

Tricyrtis2022 · 01/12/2022 08:02

I've just discovered the Am I Being Unreasonable threads!

It was AIBU that drew me in here initially a year or so ago. There's some good stuff in there.

Tricyrtis2022 · 01/12/2022 08:02

Bugger, meant to make that top line in italics...

SinnerBoy · 01/12/2022 08:32

Really? There were loads of links in the old place. There's even a thread for it!

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/12/2022 08:58

I have just been invited to sign up to EDFs energy demand shift trial.

Lots of nerdy stats to look forward to. I might start a thread.

Tricyrtis2022 · 01/12/2022 09:05

What does the trial involve, Gin?

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/12/2022 09:12

Basically there are 19 days where we will be contacted and asked to reduce our energy use in certain time periods (usually when demand is very high). We get paid £4 for every KwH we shift during that period compared to our normal usage.

Tricyrtis2022 · 01/12/2022 09:29

That sounds interesting. Any idea how you'll reduce your usage?

I'm not sure how much we use, we should check it out.

Gonners · 01/12/2022 09:29

I got that from EDF too, Gin, and signed up. I don't think we'll succeed, as the hours when they want us to avoid using washing machines/dishwashers/whatever (4 to 7 pm, I think) are time when I wouldn't use them anyway.

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/12/2022 09:40

I think we will be the same TBH. I am mainly signed up for nerd reasons as I worked on smart meter policy a few years ago and enabling demand shift was one of the key business cases for the roll out.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 01/12/2022 10:01

I've seen a couple of threads on here from people doing that. Helpfully, I can't remember where. I think theybwere somewhere general - AIBU or Chat, rather than somewhere like the Money folder.

The drawback seems to be that the incentive is higher if your normal usage is profligate.

Tricyrtis2022 · 01/12/2022 10:04

Maybe here - www.mumsnet.com/talk/cost_of_living ?

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 01/12/2022 10:05

A sensible.place to look or start one, but not where I've seen the ones I'm thinking of. I haven't ventured that far yet.

Tricyrtis2022 · 01/12/2022 10:08

Thinking about it, AIBU or Chat would be better as they get more traffic and posting in Cost of Living might not get many replies.

Kucinghitam · 01/12/2022 10:40

Hmm yes, I was wondering where to post my tiny bit of Cost of Living news, that Bulb have just reduced my estimated payment slightly.

(Was £153 before all the badness and went up to £183 in October. But meanwhile we'd replaced the boiler, installed a Hive and sharpened up our temperature management. So just two months later, Bulb have emailed to say that they're dropping the payment to £173. Also my trusty spreadsheet has confirmed that we are using less gas and electricity, year-on-year.)

It's not worth starting a thread about.

I did enjoy reading people's nerdy energy management in the old place :(
