Gather here all ye refugees from the foundering ship of JTT, if ye be in need of "How the heck do I format my post?" "Why can't I edit my typos?" "What do those acronyms mean?" and most importantly, "Where is everybody that I used to know?"

Or just to chat randomly.

Mr Monkey got one of those interminable lists of gender options in a job application form last week.

A fairly with it Londoner in his late forties, who freqently went to gay and drag clubs in his youth just looked confused and asked "how am I meant to know if I am any of these things? What even are they?"

Pixiedust1234 · 29/11/2022 14:26

I'm sorry to barge in on your thread but I heard a kitty klaxon go off and I wasn't disappointed. Dogs, cats and birds!! I won't talk about the cute octopus as it seems to have crawled into my pocket Grin

Anyway...@Tricyrtis2022 may I ask what that tree is in your garden, in the centre of your blackbird picture? It's got a lovely shape to it.

leaves behind some welcoming cake and cookies

Tricyrtis2022 · 29/11/2022 14:38

@Pixiedust1234, it's a Magnolia. A pain to clear up after but absolutely stunning in spring and the most wonderful shade tree in summer. It was here when we moved in.

I think l Slicy's post today was the first one to actually suggest trying to involve the people who've left to see what could make them feel they want to return.

Swiftly followed by one of the sites biggest misogynists (in a crowded field) saying that inviting us would make other posters feel unwelcome by our very presence. We are unclean....

Yes I note on the lifeboat thread that rejonked very specifically said some posters should not be welcomed back as they made others feel unsafe. He did NOT say some types of posts shouldn't be allowed nor opinions be expressed. He very specifically said some posters should not be welcomed back.

I wished him happiness and safety in his new home without us pesky Women With Opinions.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 29/11/2022 15:11

unsafe some of them really do fear women.

Tricyrtis2022 · 29/11/2022 15:14

Unsafe how?

Not that it's likely, but what scenario do they imagine if some of us returned?

SinnerBoy · 29/11/2022 15:15

Unsafe = people don't agree entirely with my mad views.

As far as I can see.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 29/11/2022 15:22

I made a joke (observation) on the old place about a goldfish's pronouns, I wonder will I get barred?

bignosebignose · 29/11/2022 15:24

It was in the owner's post on Friday too - his personal fiefdom board is "no longer a safe space" for the alphabet people. It's just gibberish.

VicSynix · 29/11/2022 15:25

Well, some people previously left JTT as our mere presence (in our segregated space) made them too uncomfortable to remain there. Which I thought was sad. Who knew we had such power!

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 29/11/2022 15:25

This fish

No wonder they feel threatened

otraynor · 29/11/2022 15:45

This is Finlay and Misha. Misha is the cat and is named after Saint seraphim of sarov’s wild bear that kept him company in the forests of Russia. Finlay isn’t named after anything—I just googled Scottish boys names.

@VicSynix I love having a superpower. I'm tired of making sad little men feel unsafe on obscure talkboards though. I think I'll use it next time for World Peace, every child a loving, happy, home and remove calories from chocolate.

Kucinghitam · 29/11/2022 15:49

@otraynor That's a wonderful photo! Like a renaissance portrait...

Cocoa is good for getting a very low calorie fix - it's (almost) cured my chocolate cravings.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 29/11/2022 15:58

That* is a massive goldfish.

  • They?
DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 29/11/2022 15:59

I really should stop reading the JtT lifeboat thread.

MissLawls · 29/11/2022 16:00

I find very strong coffee, slightly sweetened (with brown sugar) and splash of whole milk does the trick for me @DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry

By the way, while I'm here, whatever happened to the little icons beneath the posting box which told you how to format here!? I remember some of it but not all, eg how to do flowers/cake icons etc. I only knew how to do italics because some said upthread - thanks. And I realised how to do bold by putting asterisks round words. And how to mention a poster's name. But there doesn't seem to be anywhere that tells you how to format here. I've seen the rules, and fine, but it's not there or if it is I've mised it. Ta!

MissLawls · 29/11/2022 16:01

I really should stop reading the JtT lifeboat thread.

Same @DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry. It's like picking at a scab isn't it! Or itching a wound that's getting better - my mum always said was a good sign when it itches, it's getting better and you shouldn't scratch it. Oh but it calls to you it calls...

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 29/11/2022 16:03

I think you have to type the word in square brackets - but without the list that there used to be, you have to guess the words. Let's see .. . Flowers Cake Gin Wine Biscuit [cat] [dog]

Kucinghitam · 29/11/2022 16:04

By the way, while I'm here, whatever happened to the little icons beneath the posting box which told you how to format here!?

They disappeared in the latest site update, I think. They're always something in square brackets and if you start typing a square bracket followed by a letter, a bunch of suggestions magically pop up. If you're using the web version, that is.

DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry · 29/11/2022 16:06

It does

I make my cocoa with a spoonful of cocoa powder, spoonful of turmeric, 1/4 spoonful each of ground cinnamon and ground ginger. With nearly boiling water (mixing a bit at a time until it's wetted) and topped up with milk.

Tastes great but stains horribly if spilled.

Plasticfreefantastic · 29/11/2022 16:06

I’ve still got the little symbols for formatting, @s and emoticons. Safari mobile browser.

MissLawls · 29/11/2022 16:11

Thanks for tips re formatting. I know the ones that matter most! I realise we're missing our edit, delete and ignore buttons but I like all the other stuff we can do here so you know swings and roundabouts - no pics for them it seems! So have some Cakeinstead! That sounds great @DeanVolecapeAKAelderberry I may give it a go! Flowers and while i'm having fun with pics is anyone watching the Footballtonight or is Footballtalk verboten!?

Tricyrtis2022 · 29/11/2022 16:13

I don't like cake and would rather have a crispy chicken wing. Is there a way of doing an image for that?
