@Feelingitnow the Leeds club of revolving dance hall fame was The News/Planet Earth/Baja Beach Club which was under the Queens Hotel
Leeds clubs of my youth -
Very young (as in 13 😂) Panama Joes that had a well deserved rep of letting anyone in. One of its later reincarnations was Yel Bar where Mel B of the Spice Girls used to work. Its USP was that it’d play certain songs (such as YMCA) and the staff would get up on the bar and dance. I think the female staff may have worn swimsuits too, although the men wore shorts and T-shirts😳
Still young (as in not strictly old enough to drink) Confettis that became a Ritzy, and has been incorporated into a bigger club called Pryzm by adding an old Barclays Bank building onto it
Mr Craigs which was all black and silver and dead sophis 😂 which also was reopened many times and still a bar now.
Maddisons, which had a bar underneath called Sunset and Vine. That was demolished and now an office block
Over 18 - Majestyk which was a massive old cinema and now the Channel 4 HQ, and Jumping Jacks next door
Warehouse, which was all about the acid house. I wore a smock and kicker boots with a whistle round my neck 🙈. I’d smuggle my clothes out as my dad wouldn’t have let me out of the house like that. Sensible man 😂
Fruit Cupboard. Loved it there!
Foxes which was out of the town centre so a lot easier to get home. It’s a Wetherspoons now.
Some real dive in Chapeltown which was a lot rougher then than now as it was a right light area back then. Again this was without my parent’s knowledge 😂 It was a massive converted house with an in and out drive where the taxis would pull up, and the bouncers would walk you to them . I can’t for the life of me remember it’s name but it was possibly on Francis Street if anyone remembers it?
