I've got DD:
Christmas bedspread
Julia Donaldson book advent
Wooden keepsake advent
Elf on the shelf activities book
Little Miss Christmas book
Reindeer headband
Christmas PJs

Baby DS has got a white chocolate calender, a wooden keepsake advent and PJs.

I do know someone who dies this, instead of a Christmas eve box, it makes more sense to me - they get their Christmas pjs, book etc on the 1st and so get more christmas use put of them.

I don't do it myself, that'd be most of my Christmas budget gone.

eddiemairswife · 24/11/2022 16:55

Why not a box for each day of the year? Or, even better, a February 29th box.

More American marketing bollocks.

I know a few who do 1st boxes though.
We use same xmas bedding each year, same. Books and xmas mugs for hot choc. But they come out whenever i can be bothered in Dec

caringcarer · 24/11/2022 16:56

Never even heard of this. In my house we give children an advent calendar to share so take turns to open and get bit of chocolate. I don't do Xmas Eve boxes either. I give Xmas gifts and stocking from Santa. That is enough new toys.

If I am feeling generous, i might put the heating on to celebrate the start of the month.

Get you going all out!!

HeraldicBlazoning · 24/11/2022 16:57

I bet my friend who has a "hot chocolate station" set up will have a Dec 1st box.

Tinktravels · 24/11/2022 16:57

I have seen these a lot lately! Can't wait to put some together, maybe a nice candle and a bath bomb and PJ's / dressing gown. My favourite things 🤣

PuttingDownRoots · 24/11/2022 16:49

Lots of people have Christmas bedding (reused yearly), Christmassy books that come out in December and advent calendars. But put them in a box, MN freaks out.

Honestly... compared with Elf arrivial balloon bouquets and North Pole breakfasts... this actually seems kind of restrained.

I can't wait to see the attention seeking mother article this year.

How can you get yourself in the national newspaper by acting like a twat and going way over board with that fucking elf?

Its like taking out a massive advert in the press to all the other parents saying 'avoid me, I'm seriously disturbed and have massive unresolved parental issues I'm passing on to my kids'

End Elf Crime Now!

GrazingSheep · 24/11/2022 16:59

Are they things you had already or are you buying all new stuff? Apart from the chocolate

Unwellchild325 · 24/11/2022 16:59

This is an influencer/marketing campaign thing isn't it? No one seriously does this do they?

LucySno · 24/11/2022 17:00

Oh come on Ladies what a lot of grinches you are, I think this is adorable

KIDDING

What a crock of shite.

ChocChipOwl · 24/11/2022 17:01

Ha ha. Love it and the replies

I do one! And my kids are 16 and 24! So that'll really give some of you something to froth over Grin

Perfect28 · 24/11/2022 17:01

And two spoilt children in the making 🫣

Jaybird43 · 24/11/2022 17:01

Sorry @TinyPhotoFrames - I would ask MN to move it over to the Christmas board. I’m not doing a 1st Dec box - I think Christmas is being diluted with all this faff and nonsense

RedToothBrush · 24/11/2022 17:01

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 24/11/2022 16:57

Get you going all out!!

Is putting the heating on in November the new putting up the tree in November faux pa?

We cracked with the heating on Monday. Set to a balmly 17c. Tree is being felled Sunday cos it's too long to wait til the 3rd this year as its far too fucking miserable and cold.

DuchessDandelion · 24/11/2022 17:02

A what now?

I think christmas eve boxes are excessive and you do Dec 1st boxes?

DinosaurOfFire · 24/11/2022 17:02

We don't do a "Dec 1st" box per se, but on the 1st the kids will come downstairs to: Their advent calendar, our "Shepherd on a search" in his basket with his book, and I'll put their Christmas/ winter bedding on the beds around then too. Christmas jumpers become part of "everyday wear" too. Christmas pjs are already in circulation all year round to get the use out of them before the kids grow out of them!

SirenSays · 24/11/2022 17:03

I think this makes way more sense than a Xmas eve box

LearnerCook · 24/11/2022 17:03

A December 1st box? Is this in addition to a Christmas Eve box and Christmas presents? This is getting beyond ridiculous now.

footballfootballfootball · 24/11/2022 17:04

An advent calendar

Typo22 · 24/11/2022 17:04

Ummm, they will get a small chocolate brussell sprout in their advent calendar and that is it! We don't do the whole Christmas eve box, it's too much work and set aup too much expectation! They get a new pair of pjs on Christmas eve and maybe some hot chocolate in a novelty mug.

ReadtheReviews · 24/11/2022 17:04

No idea what this is op. But surely opening presents before Christmas Day just takes away from the novelty and excitement of the actual day?

Fieldfly · 24/11/2022 17:06

I have an empty box ready for some stuff for the food bank 😇 an item a day. I haven’t actually, every year I mean to. The one year we tried we got snowed in and ate the stuff we had collected 😳. Seriously thought as this just a wanky way of saying you got the Christmas decs down from the loft?

SnotRag22 · 24/11/2022 17:06

I don't do a 1st December box specifically, but I do aim to have the decorations up the day before.

I have to get the Christmas stuff out ready for the arrival of the advent calendars.

So the bedding and stuff will go on the night before probably. The Christmas book box comes out. DSs tree goes up in his room. Then the other trees will go up over the course of the week. We start using the festive themed mugs etc.
