Probably a bit boring, but I like it 😊

It looks so inviting after a long day, cosy and warm

kingofchaos · 24/11/2022 13:49

BarmyArmy22 · 24/11/2022 14:16

Sorry @Fentylipgloss not read the whole thread but where's the projector for the ceiling from, my niece would like that? Ta

@ClaudineClare how did you do that? Find the ad?

A simple google image search with that photo. You can tell it's an image as it's slightly blurred.

Bullshitters gonna bullshit

This is ours. We’ve just moved in after building it and went fairly minimalist but it actually looks quite bland, we also need a new bed… Any advice welcome!

Thanks for all the love for my en suite. I can't take the credit; it was there when I moved in.

ah, you lucked out! love it!

Fuwari · 24/11/2022 14:20

I can’t make the bed as it would disturb the cats 😂

I like the minimalism! You could maybe add tones and textures with linen blinds, swapping carpet for wood floors and a rug, a piece of art above the bed? It’s easier to gradually add things to a pretty and minimalist base like yours than to try to strip back, I think.

Also I’ve never seen anyone make their bed like that before! This thread is an excellent “through the keyhole” – even the joke posts.

Get yourself a nice patterned headboard to dress the bed.
You can pick a fabric and have it done at the headboard workshop I think.

Mine from 6 years ago. Perhaps the one time in my life I got it tidy. Bedroom in current house has never ever been tidy…

That building outside looks beautiful!

Ha! I’d just stripped the bed then saw this thread so wanted to take a photo before the school run, the duvet cover is the only bedding on hence covering the pillows 😁

LeBoudoir · 24/11/2022 14:29

@Mamoun good idea - thank you!

I was saying to my hubby this morning that I needed ideas/inspiration to make the bedroom more luxurious and then saw this thread! Any advice welcome. Do not like the wooden chest of drawers. Suppose I could paint it. Also got wooden wardrobes Want a more hotel feel! Should I get carpet?

Did you know William Morris are using your room to advertise their wallpaper?

I am not remotely an interior design expert but I would probably get a larger rug, and longer curtains.

Shortkiwi · 24/11/2022 14:34

Thanks @WeWereInParis this is what I need, an objective eye!

stuntbubbles · 24/11/2022 14:36

@Shortkiwi Gorgeous floors and fireplace! I agree with @WeWereInParis: longer curtains, go floor-length. And a much bigger rug that goes under the bed and furniture – yes, covering most of the lovely floor but the floor will peek out around the edges.

I like your drawers. Maybe they and the dressing table need something big to anchor them, like a painting above the drawers or a big lamp/large vase?

I agree about the brown chest of drawers. Painting might look better. Agree with a pp about the curtain length.

Also lighting. You possibly have bedside lamps though? And art! I wouldn't get a carpet, and though I like a darker floor I think that looks fine, but not with those brown drawers.

Coatdegroan · 24/11/2022 14:39

Here's mine! Very plain but I love my squashes and twigs in the window. Def could do with a picture or something above the bed. Great thread loving the real and fakes!

Can I get advice? This isn’t my main bedroom but is the box room - which looks bigger but isn’t?

Not planning no renting it out, it fits a double bed, wardrobe and small chest of drawers but could I do something better with it? In case I do need to rent it out too.

This is mine. I've collected old Victorian drawers over time and have cosy wool blankets, I absolutely love it although it can get a bit chilly with the high ceiling.

The en-suite is aesthetically attractive but I have mixed feelings about the open-plan-ness of it (it's definitely a wees only toilet!), we've been here two years and it's still not grown on me.
So any suggestions on how to cost effectively make it enclosed would be greatly appreciated!
The main difficulty is that the A frame of the beams between the bedroom and bathroom is open and not filled in, so the steam from showering would still get into the room even we put a curtain across the door and 'window'.

Suggest you infill with glass
