How often do you wash your hair?

And what hair type would you say you have?

My hairdresser has told me washing my hair every 2 days is not right for my hair type and I should try to wait a week. My hair is very thick and long.

I am going to give this a try because I would save a lot of time!

Interested to hear what others do

Thick long and wavy and I wash it everyday. Just habit

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 22/11/2022 18:13

Normally Saturday if I am going out and then Tuesday before I go into the office. If I'm not going out at the weekend then just Tuesday.

TheHauntedPencilCase · 22/11/2022 18:17

Super fine curly hair here and I wash twice a week. I used to manage once a week but after 2 hols this summer with daily washing I haven't got back into that swing again yet. Hopefully will this winter but it takes a couple of weeks for hair to get used to it and I've too much going on out of the house for that at the moment. I used to wash every other day but your hair gets used to it so I avoid getting into that habit as it makes me really greasy.

Every other day. It's really thick, just over shoulder length and wavy although I usually blow dry it straight.
It doesn't look good if I leave it longer and I hate having my hair up.

MrsBungle · 22/11/2022 18:22

Fine and greasy so I wash it every day bar the odd weekend day.

Chloefairydust · 22/11/2022 18:22

I wash mine about twice a week, I have been using faith in nature tea tree conditioner which has been really good at cleansing my scalp without drying out my hair. I use a scalp massager to really work the conditioner into my scalp, and then I use a tangle teaser brush to work the conditioner through the length of my hair, leaving the conditioner in to soak in till the end of my shower. I have curly/ frizz prone hair but my roots start to get oily around day 3 after washing even though the ends are still very dry.

Although I have to wet the ends of my hair in the shower each day to reacticate the curls and reduce frizz.

maddy68 · 22/11/2022 18:25

Every other day. In the winter. Every day in the summer long think blonde -greying-

FrightfullyFreezy · 22/11/2022 18:38

Every few days. I have long, straight, brown hair.

AlwaysFullOfQuestions22 · 22/11/2022 18:40

Daily or greasy. I've tried the leaving it in lockdown for 2 days then 3 etc. But always by day 2 its stuck to my face with grease.
I also have oily skin

doitwithlove · 22/11/2022 18:42

I used to get 3 days between washes, having started on a testosterone gel to help with the menopause I have to wash it every other day 🙄

I feel like a teenager with greasy hair and oily skin 🙈

mondaytosunday · 22/11/2022 19:17

Thick and wavy. Wash it every other day. If I can get away a third day (usually on a weekend day I'm not going out) I'll hold off another day.

dementedma · 22/11/2022 19:18

Twice a week. Hair short, coloured and thick

OrangePomander · 22/11/2022 19:21

Every day. Takes three minutes to wash and another two with the hairdryer, if I can be bothered, but I usually let it dry naturally. It’s not very long though!

lljkk · 22/11/2022 19:22

natural graying
fine and medium amount of it
Shortish
"dry"
I wash it about once every 4-6 weeks

Q2C4 · 22/11/2022 19:23

I wash my hair every day. I let it dry naturally. I have fine, poker straight hair.

audweb · 22/11/2022 19:25

Once a week. Thick Curly hair. It doesn’t need more than that, and would be way too much hassle to do it more often as well. My hair is fairly dry. I refresh it with a water spray and some hair product daily.

BedTaker · 22/11/2022 19:27

I do mine twice a week, and that is my absolute limit, I feel absolutely minging by day 4! It's super bleached, so I should probably only do it once a week but there is no way I could stretch to that. I used ro do it religiously every other day though, so am finding I am saving a lot of shampoo and conditioner!

IntrovertedPenguin · 22/11/2022 19:29

Very thick but medium length (mid neck.) every 3 days, unless I'm going out somewhere nice. BlushGrin

shams05 · 22/11/2022 19:43

Normally only wash once a week. I have long fine hair that dries out if I wash more frequently.
Dd has very long thick hair and we only wash hers once a week as well.
We grew up with weekly hair washes and until I had multiple kids my hair was thick and long and lush.
It's not recovered after my last pregnancy unfortunately

Afterfire · 22/11/2022 19:48

Mid length and naturally curly - type 3c ish.

I wash mine mostly every other day just because otherwise I wake up looking like I’ve got a birds nest on my head. I know I should really pineapple it up or sleep with a satin bonnet etc like you’re supposed to with curly hair but I just can’t stand all that shite on my head when I sleep.

Smellywellyhoo · 22/11/2022 20:34

My hair is very processed- bleached to within an inch of its life with bright colours on top. I wash it once a week because otherwise the colour just fades straight away and I pay a lot of money for it! I use dry shampoo and because of the bleach it isn't very greasy anyway.

splatfrog · 22/11/2022 20:36

Every day or I have a head like a frying pan.

curlywurly10 · 22/11/2022 23:49

My hair is just above waist length, very thick and curly. I wash my hair every 8-11 days, depends how it looks but my hair doesn't get greasy fast at all. I style with products / water in between so keep it looking fresh as it can get very frizzy due to my hair type. If i straighten it i always need to wash it faster than i would normally.

garlictwist · 23/11/2022 05:06

I have very thick hair. I wash it three times a week (usually Mondays, weds and Fridays). I do a lot of sport and it gets very sweaty! If I don't do sport it could prob go longer between washes.

bluechameleon · 23/11/2022 07:24

I think mine looks best on the second day but can usually get a third out of it. It's a bit greasy and frizzy by then though. My hair is thickish and wavy.
