How often do you wash your hair?

And what hair type would you say you have?

My hairdresser has told me washing my hair every 2 days is not right for my hair type and I should try to wait a week. My hair is very thick and long.

I am going to give this a try because I would save a lot of time!

Interested to hear what others do

Every day or it looks like a bush. I would have to spray it with water to do anything with it, so might as well wash it. It’s curly and waist length. It was reasonably thick but post partum hair loss has taken a toll, although I can see it’s already growing back.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/11/2022 17:13

Every other day, medium length and really thick.

BryanAdamsLeftAnkle · 22/11/2022 17:14

Mine is very fine. Dries within minutes without a hairdryer. I need to wash it daily for work or 2 days for non working days. If I don't I look chip pan like. I have spent a long time trying to sort it but nothing else works.

Every other day. Have fine hair.

Floralnomad · 22/11/2022 17:18

Medium length , quite dry hair and unless I’ve been doing something particularly sweaty it gets washed every 7-10 days , it doesn’t matter how long I leave it , it never looks any different .

Perfect28 · 22/11/2022 17:18

Daily because it's short and straight and it's not an issue. Husband has thick long hair, he is weeklyish.

Chomolungma · 22/11/2022 17:20

Mine is long-ish (a couple of inches below my shoulders) and very thick. Ideally I wash it once every 5/6 days. Once a week at a push.

ofwarren · 22/11/2022 17:23

Mine is bra strap length and 2a with medium thickness.
It's also undyed but tends to be on the dry side.
I wash it once a week with a moisture rich shampoo and do a hair mask afterwards for the conditioner.
I could probably leave it 9 days before it starts getting greasy.

Bigslippers · 22/11/2022 17:24

Once a week on a Sunday .. long hair and usually do an Olaplex 0 and 3 - and sit around and lounge in it for hours in a shower cap
Long hair with bleach so try and keep it as healthy as I can

PaperMonster · 22/11/2022 17:25

Every day. I used to have very greasy hair and it needed doing every day. And that nonsense about leaving it longer between washes never worked on mine - just as it isn’t with my daughter’s hair now. Definitely a hormonal thing with us. I could get away with it now but with it being so fine it’s all over the place of a morning and I’m showering anyway so it just gets a wash.

AlwaysLatte · 22/11/2022 17:30

Every day as it's very curly and the only way I can get even a wide toothed comb through it is when it's wet and conditioned. I do try to only condition lightly though and shampoo ever other day. It's fairly fine but there's lots of it.

AlwaysLatte · 22/11/2022 17:31

NB I never blow dry it - leave the curls to dry naturally with serum on.

GreyhairedHobbit · 22/11/2022 17:34

Fine hair here so every other day, but I only dry it with my hot air brush if I am going out, otherwise I let it dry naturally(saves electricity too) I shower every other day too😮

JamSandle · 22/11/2022 17:36

No idea of my hair type but it's thick, long and wavy. I don't really wash it at set times. Maybe every 2 days. Maybe a week.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 22/11/2022 17:37

Before lockdown, I washed my very long and very thick hair daily.

Now it's twice a week. Generally a Sunday and a Wednesday.

DinosApple · 22/11/2022 17:38

Fine, oily hair. Every other day.

But... If I crimp my hair it can go a day or two longer! I found out after an 80s party.

ScreamingMeMe · 22/11/2022 17:41

Thick and shoulder length. Every other day, normally. Sometimes I let it go 2 days.

It doesn't get greasy in that time, but I just like it to smell nice and feel clean. I find dry shampoo horrible and pretty useless anyway.

longtompot · 22/11/2022 17:43

Fine below shoulder length hair, but lots of it, home box dyed, curly/wavy and I wash it about 3 times a week. Any more it gets frizzy, any less it gets matted.

RampantIvy · 22/11/2022 17:46

Once or twice a week. I have very dry hair that would look like straw if I washed it more often, and as I WFH most of the time it doesn't really matter. I always wash it on the days I go into the office, and when I am going out somewhere nice.

Maroon85 · 22/11/2022 18:05

Mine is very thick and long and I wash it once a week as well.

Discoh · 22/11/2022 18:07

Fine curly hair, twice a week.

Thearex · 22/11/2022 18:08

Thick, wavy hair, it has a colour on it too. Wash it 2/3 times a week depending on what I have been up to.

Roselilly36 · 22/11/2022 18:08

5-7 days, thick, long hair.

Spanielsarepainless · 22/11/2022 18:10

Fine and greasy, so every morning.

CraftyGin · 22/11/2022 18:10

About once a week.
