Waitrose own brand bin liners, and they always break, and when you get them out it's super easy to poke a hole in them.

Scented loo roll or worse, coated in lotion/shea butter. All it does is irritate the intimate regions and make them uncomfortable and itchy.
Scented sanitary towels/panty liners (auto correct trying to say 'scented sanity' here, that too)
Candles/wax melts as we do have electricity nowadays.
Slime. Never got the appeal. Thankfully my lot didn't like it either but some of their cousins did. Just why I have no idea!

Vimto is the best - so much better than Ribena

Bags of ice cubes. I can sort of understand if you suddenly throw a big unplanned party; but I've heard and seen people who always buy a bag just to keep in their freezer. Do they not know the recipe to make their own?!?!

Also, thankfully on the wane now, but Playboy branded stationery for children. I presume a lot must have been bought (or sanctioned) by parents - and even if kids bought it with their own pocket money, you'd have thought the parents would notice and make it 'disappear'. Whoever thought that was a nice thing for their young daughter to take into school? Absolutely nobody would ever have dreamt of sending their child into school with 'Pornhub' branded stuff, but what's the difference in principle really? I suppose adults may have their personal opinion as to whether they consider one more subtle/stylish/sophisticated than the other.... but CHILDREN?????

So very true re the playboy stuff - thankfully haven't seen it around for years.

Christmas bowels come after Christmas sprouts.

Christmas sprouts and drinking from the previously mentioned glittery wine glasses = Christmas bowels

Adult clothing with Disney print crap all over it. Honestly can’t envisage why any grown man or woman would want to walk around in a Minnie Mouse t-shirt that they actually paid money for but there is sooooo much of it on sale.

YES!!!

I don't get it, I wouldn't use it if I was offered it for free.

I don't know how many times I've seen a nice bag or jumper only to realise it's Minnie mouse or some shit.

Very annoying.

Dontaskdontget · 21/11/2022 22:31

Lip filler. Botox. Massive false eyelashes.

It is not as subtle as you think and it does not look good.

BaBaBarelle · 21/11/2022 22:34

I love an all day breakfast in a tin. DD always makes remarks about unidentified meat based objects but it just means more for me. I bought three for her DOfE expedition on purpose because I knew she would refuse them and then I could have them in peace while she was gone. I even sent her photos of me doing so haha.

GettinHyggeWithIt · 21/11/2022 22:36

Stuff like plastic banana holders and egg slicers. Just no.

Cot bumpers - should have been banned from sale years ago.

This . They are so dangerous.

Lndnmummy · 21/11/2022 22:45

@GettinHyggeWithIt the banana holders are a game changer. Mush free banans!

karmalama · 21/11/2022 22:47

All the really expensive stuff in m and s food hall , that has a short shelf life and mid week .who eats smoked salmon pate and lobster or really expensive ready meals on a Tuesday ?

Kevin the Carrot merchandise. I like lots of things that Aldi sell, but mostly I shop there because I can save money, and do smaller top-ups elsewhere for lines they don't carry. And I'm not against a useful impulse buy, whether for myself or as a present. But I don't get the appeal of a soft toy carrot.

Same goes for M&S Percy pig merch.... who's buying all the tea towels/pjs etc with a cartoon pig??

Iliveinanoodie · 21/11/2022 22:58

Cooked, frozen baked potatoes that you put in a microwave to heat. I don't understand. Tiny little potatoes that are so expensive. Why not put an actual potato in the microwave?

Eleusa · 21/11/2022 22:59

Banana holders are brilliant. They make a huge difference.

Banana holders are brilliant. They make a huge difference.

But don’t you need 5-6 of them to cover a standard bunch, and don’t the bananas just get eaten anyway? Think I’m missing what the point is?

BaBaBarelle · 21/11/2022 23:04

It's for when you take a banana out with you to eat for eg your lunch or when you're hiking.

Laundry cleansers and scent boosters.. what a load of shite and an utter waste of money.

I use the laundry cleansers. For when tops have a body odour armpit smell, it gets it out. Mostly use it for gym clothes

ihatethecold · 21/11/2022 23:09

This thread is making me chuckle so much.

Ivy in pots. I’ve loads to give away free!

That reminds me of when I was in Greece with my partner and a cunning lady at the market managed to persuade us to buy a bag of seeds that, on closer inspection at home, turned out to be dandelion seeds.

They taste like they've been in the oven, and I hate microwave normal potatoes
Plus they're frozen so last well. Live alone and sometimes fancy a jacket potato, I buy the frozen ones when they're on offer

dropthevipers · 21/11/2022 23:16

Chris de Burgh records. I realise tastes vary, but WTAF? If I ever got to be in charge of such a thing the first amendment to the Geneva convention would be to add music of such piss poor quality to the list of crimes against humanity.
