Waitrose own brand bin liners, and they always break, and when you get them out it's super easy to poke a hole in them.

Ready Break - it’s literally just oats in a smaller package for more money. I just can’t understand why anyone buys it.

Because it's smooth and has a completely different texture to usual porridge oats.

emmetgirl · 21/11/2022 20:42

@fruitsaladsweets yes! It baffles me.

Quackpot · 21/11/2022 20:42

'bottle lamps'

Empty alcohol bottles with battery powered fairy lights shoved inside. Usually £10 each 😳

Bags of ice cubes. I can sort of understand if you suddenly throw a big unplanned party; but I've heard and seen people who always buy a bag just to keep in their freezer. Do they not know the recipe to make their own?!?!

Also, thankfully on the wane now, but Playboy branded stationery for children. I presume a lot must have been bought (or sanctioned) by parents - and even if kids bought it with their own pocket money, you'd have thought the parents would notice and make it 'disappear'. Whoever thought that was a nice thing for their young daughter to take into school? Absolutely nobody would ever have dreamt of sending their child into school with 'Pornhub' branded stuff, but what's the difference in principle really? I suppose adults may have their personal opinion as to whether they consider one more subtle/stylish/sophisticated than the other.... but CHILDREN?????

I know loads who buy ice cubes.. they're usually slower to melt and can quickly grab a bunch.

I don't get why anyone buys those creations where someone puts different chocolates in a basket and some ribbon and charges a fortune.

Friendofdennis · 21/11/2022 20:44

Belvita breakfast biscuits. Taste so dry

WetLettuce2 · 21/11/2022 20:48

@HairyMcLarie

There was a white wine and mushroom Pasta N Sauce which they discontinued about 20 years ago. I still miss it.

Was it little shells ??

95% of household cleaning products. There's not many things you can't solve with washing up liquid and/or bleach!

Or white vinegar.

Agree, I love Ready Break because of the texture, can’t abide the consistency of normal porridge.

NerdyBird · 21/11/2022 20:58

Specifically, Tesco own brand Hoisin Sauce. Runny and tasteless. I don't normally waste food but this is going to be binned.

In general, agree with the scented loo roll, sanitary products and over powering air fresheners.

I too miss the wine and mushroom Pasta n Sauce though!

Slower to melt?! Do they add a mystery ingredient to achieve this antifreeze?!

They’re usually bigger than the piddly little ice cube trays at home

antelopevalley · 21/11/2022 21:04

I have bought ice cubes for parties. A big bag is a £1 and ut would take ages to make so many.

ForestofD · 21/11/2022 21:09

Scented panty liners.

PolkaDotMankini · 21/11/2022 21:10

Those landscape paintings with LEDs or glitter to spice them up. Tacky as.

See also: a diamante butter dish I was going to buy DH as a joke present until I saw it was £25! Why?!

This. It blows my mind that people actually pay for the branded version.

I was in Santorini a few years ago and came down with the most blinding headache. Made my way to a pharmacy where I explained I wanted paracetamol. Chap hands me a box over the counter and says €7.50 please. I looked at him incredulously and then pointed to the Panadol on the next shelf and asked how much that was. Turns out that was €2.50.

Still not the 20p one I get in Tesco, but it felt like a bargain after almost being ripped off.

A Christmas rat! They’re at my local garden centre for some unknown reason, I don’t get it!

😂my husband and son came home from Christmas shopping with one of these last year!! It looks like an emaciated Womble

My dad gets these. I always ask him if he's had his 'tin of dog food' yet 🤢

I agree with Christmas ornaments that have no connection with Christmas, totally pointless IMO
Christmas tea towels, bowels, salt&pepper pots etc, who has enough money to spend on things they'll use once a year

Christmas bowels come after Christmas sprouts.

Dunnoburt · 21/11/2022 21:53

Organic produce 🙈🙉🙊
