Waitrose own brand bin liners, and they always break, and when you get them out it's super easy to poke a hole in them.

Kevin the Carrot merchandise. I like lots of things that Aldi sell, but mostly I shop there because I can save money, and do smaller top-ups elsewhere for lines they don't carry. And I'm not against a useful impulse buy, whether for myself or as a present. But I don't get the appeal of a soft toy carrot.

Oh, carcinogenic home scents like plug ins or those aggressively scented candles (Yankee). They smell toxic!

Agreed

Ivy in pots. I’ve loads to give away free!

I saw buttercups in pots for sale at a garden centre once. I spend hours digging the sods out of my garden...can't believe anyone would pay for them!

Zipps · 21/11/2022 16:23

Afternoon tea in a box and those chocolate bar hampers, both on Facebook.

QueenofallIsee · 21/11/2022 16:24

God awful ‘hampers’ that cost £20 and contain poundshop bars of ordinary chocolate, poor quality hand wash and fluffy socks in a plastic basket. I don’t feel ‘pampered’, I feel incredulous that anyone ever thinks ‘that’s nice’.

There's a shop near me (think Home Bargains in terms of what they stock, but a local family-owned version) which has an entire aisle dedicated to fake flowers. I always wonder who's buying them in such quantities that it's worth dedicating a whole aisle to them.

Also I often wonder who buys all the lint rollers in IKEA. They seem to stock thousands of them. Surely you buy one and it lasts a decade?!

The lint roller in ikea is one sided sticky, so you peel one sheet off for new stickiness!
We've used loads over the years for dog hairs,
Clothes brush for regular clothes cleaning though

OnTheRanDan · 21/11/2022 16:25

Really cheap massive sponge cakes in places like B&M.
Really cheap ready meals-disgusting and yes I have tried a few.

incognitocheeto · 21/11/2022 16:26

A friend on Facebook was selling glittery stuff - champagne bottle covered in glitter, glasses covered in glitter, etc

I literally cannot think of anything worse than someone gifting me a glass covered in glitter - how do you drink out of it? Wash it? I honestly think it's something you would only get your worst enemy.

I agree. My local Aldi has a big sign advertising when they will come in to stock and stating that they are limited to 2 of each character per customer. Given that they sell them every year this must mean that there are some people who buy several (for gifts presumably) every year.

Stayathomenamechange · 21/11/2022 16:30

Amusing bags for life emblazoned with "I'M AN OLD BAG" or "STUFF ME FULL OF GOODIES" etc. Just so ugly and actually more expensive than the plainer ones.

SuffolkUnicorn · 21/11/2022 16:34

I assume the big, cheap sponge cakes are being bought by people who feel they need to take cake in to work for everyone but don't want to spend loads and don't care what it tastes like. When I last worked in an office there was an unwritten rule that everyone brought in cake for their birthday and at any time they got promoted. As soon as cake was put out in the kitchen it was like watching a plague of locusts.

Handyweatherstation · 21/11/2022 16:34

Almost all clothes made for women. They're thin, shoddily made, in nasty fabrics and nasty patterns.

I buy fake flowers to put in headstone pots to take to the cemetery. They last for a long time before they fade and look tatty.

TortugaRumCakeQueen · 21/11/2022 16:37

Not quite what you asked, but I always look at non-chain clothes shops on random High Streets, and wonder how on earth they are selling enough garments to pay their rent and pay themselves a salary.

GeneratedRandomly · 21/11/2022 16:38

thinkponk48 · 21/11/2022 14:14

It's really fine and can be used in baking. I regularly use it to makes kids cakes and biscuits a bit healthier

I use oat bran if I need something fine. Also useful for the top of bread before baking. Probably cheaper than Ready Brek.

Branded versions of paracetamol and ibuprofen.

Panadol, Nurofen etc. (the basic versions)

They are literally the same drug you can get for 20p on the next shelf down.

This. It blows my mind that people actually pay for the branded version.

Bestcatmum · 21/11/2022 16:40

Really cheap and nasty perfume that smells like petrol gone off and you can smell it coming one street away.
Stupidly long black false eyelashes on young girls - looks like a spider attack.

GeneratedRandomly · 21/11/2022 16:40

incognitocheeto · 21/11/2022 16:23

Agreed

Add to this - Zoflora. Foul stinking stuff that makes me feel ill within a couple of minutes. And people add it to their laundry and spread the stink everywhere they go.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 21/11/2022 16:42

Laundry cleansers and scent boosters.. what a load of shite and an utter waste of money.

Ducksinthebath · 21/11/2022 16:49

Signs with misplaced or entirely misused apostrophes. Surely decent SPAG is part of the job of a sign writer. Does no one tell them a fundamental part of their work is just plain wrong.

Nevermindthesquirrels · 21/11/2022 16:50

A lot of things in the condiments aisle.

Whitewolf2 · 21/11/2022 16:52

A Christmas rat! They’re at my local garden centre for some unknown reason, I don’t get it!

Decorative oil bottles. Dust gathering waste of money.
