Waitrose own brand bin liners, and they always break, and when you get them out it's super easy to poke a hole in them.

Oh they're lovely when genuinely fresh. But "fresh" peas in the pod bought from the supermarket are anything but fresh. They lose their sweetness within a couple of hours of picking.

My mum tried to grow peas in the garden one year.

She didn't ever get to make what she called, "a boiling" because as soon as a pea pod was big enough Me and my brother would pop them and eat from the pod.

I may have to plant some.

Why would you dig them up? They are so pretty!

Because they spread like an absolute bastard with runners all over your lawn and flower beds, and you can never get rid of them.

'Out of stock' on US Amazon site!

So did I.... 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮 🤮

Most kitchen and toilet cleaning products. They are expensive, toxic and less effective than vinegar, lemon juice and bicarbonate of soda.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 25/11/2022 11:25

There's no justice, is there? Amazing books extolling the many marvels of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda have to be hawked in the back of Sunday supplement magazines; whilst The Da Vinci Code and Fifty Shades Of Grey become blockbuster bestsellers on the strength of the flimsiest content.

I am a recent convert to vinegar to clean my lovely new bathroom sink.
It stinks though. Can you get not smelly vinegar, or do I just need to rinse it off more thoroughly?

The vinegar only stinks when it's just used. As it evaporates, the smell disappears and becomes odourless. It's excellent to prevent mould.

If you still don't like the smell, you can switch to lemon juice. The smell is nicer but considering the price of fresh lemons, better stick to vinegar. 😊

Ah thanks. Maybe I went a bit "Shake and Vac" with my new discovery!
I did clean the whole shower cubicle with it.
I'll save lemon cleaning for the week after Shrove Tuesday when they're on offer!

Are you using white vinegar or brown vinegar?

I use white vinegar (50% vinegar to 50% water) to clear limescale from bathroom ceramics and also toothpaste (Arm and Hammer baking soda toothpaste) to clean the sink where there has been a build up of soap deposit.

White. I'll have a look at the water to vinegar ratio. I think I need to put it an old squirty bottle rather than pour straight from the vinegar one.

LindorDoubleChoc · 25/11/2022 17:17

Cleaners that are formulated with vinegar in them (such as glass cleaners and Ecover multi-purpose spray cleaner) just smell so much nicer and are really cheap. A £1.50 bottle of cleaner like that usually lasts me months - I can't justify putting up with the foul smell of vinegar just to save me a few pence.

DuchessOfSausage · 25/11/2022 17:21

I get the white vinegar spray from Savers or the £ shop. Lasts ages and ages. I try to reuse the bottle afterwards.

I don't recommend using lemon instead.

StillWeRise · 25/11/2022 17:38

would it work to add a few drops of essential oil to the vinegar/water spray?

Live, Laugh, Love wall decor

I saw a parody one the other day that said:

Eat, Shit, Die

Haaaaha!
Love the latter
Those quotes were so naff.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 25/11/2022 17:41

Eat, Shit, Die

Is it very clear that those are three separate activities - and not that the first two are to go together, with the third being the direct result?! Grin

Can’t believe someone put Dogs!!

Deathraystare · 26/11/2022 19:04

@thejadefish

My neice and nephew loved shop bought jam tarts as young kids, but would turn their noses up at my Brother's home made ones!!!!

primeoflife · 27/11/2022 09:54

@DogInATent I agree, if you can't eat peas that you have picked yourself then it's frozen all the way. Those dried out days old pods from supermarkets just don't cut it!
You can grow them so easily in a pot too. We grow mange tout and the children just snack on them as they walk past

Staryflight445 · 21/11/2022 19:27

Can you recommend a good brand that isn’t scented? Always are great but the scent is horrendous.

i hate body form because they are so sticky I struggle to pull them off!

I found sainsbury's own cheap range are unscented and not too horribly made but my favourite ones are Kotex when I can get them. They are almost as soft as cotton. I also have washable ones that I bought online about 20 years ago and they are the nicest thing to wear overnight.

kateandme · 29/11/2022 12:01

Peas are not easy to grow.but are delicious and do satisfying if u do manage it.
leaving peas out in a bowl to defrost naturally is how my cousin got her fresh pea fix when we were little. No cooking.
