A new 'one (small) job a day' thread

Can't find an active one of these, which I found massively motivating in the past.
The idea is to try and tackle one job around the house every day and report back. Even a really small job counts, especially if it's been irritating you for a while.

I've just sorted out the drawers in the hall that we use for shoes, bags etc. Took about 15 mins. More crap to throw away than I'd expected and I found all the gloves that had gone awol.

I've done a 50% water change on one aquarium (still have the other to do and it's SUCH a chore).
Baked a huge apple crumble and portioned it for the freezer.
Sold and posted a couple of bits on Vinted.

StewardsEnquiry · 22/11/2022 14:56

I have cleared out my bulging and barely closing handbag. Baby steps!!

Twospaniels · 22/11/2022 14:59

I finally bagged up the 3 piles of clothes no longer wanted, 2 pairs of shoes and a sack of bric-a-brac - and not only bagged them but put them in the car and drove them to the charity shop! They have been sitting in those piles for about 1.5 yrs!

Also, went to a local shop and used a voucher I have had in the purse for nearly a year and which runs out at the end of the month. Treated myself to a new skirt.

changer121 · 22/11/2022 15:27

I have touched up the paint on the kitchen cupboards

Booked a hotel for next year that I kept putting off

Tried to buy Christmas gifts from boots but their website hates me - going to use Selfridge's instead!

Roasted squash for dinner tonight

Done all washing and put the bins out .

Put some more bits in the skip

Feeling very productive.

Well done everyone

Failed miserably in doing the stuff I was supposed to do- throw out some paper and magazines- because life took over.

But I just cleaned the microwave as a substitute. Tomorrow's small job is to get my flu jab which I have been putting off forever.

Excellent work. Sometimes plans go awry, so just getting something done is great! Baby steps in the right direction. 😁

Thanks @AltheaVestr1t

I managed to drop a bag of random stuff off at school for the school fair today as it was much dryer. Task achieved!

Tomorrow am office based but should be able to fit a short task in after work.

clary · 22/11/2022 21:45

Well done everyone!@StewardsEnquiry A handbag tidy is always good.

I have done the final section of the wardrobe and chucked two more empty shoeboxes plus a few other odds and ends. Yay!

GettinHyggeWithIt · 22/11/2022 21:49

I’ve done so many jobs I’ve had to come to bed to
post about them on MN! 😇

XenoBitch · 22/11/2022 21:53

My kitchen sink was vile. Gave it it a good clean today.

ShinyHatStand · 22/11/2022 22:15

Another feeble day from me. But pleased to get a couple of 2 minute jobs ticked off instead of just admitting defeat.

Unpacked a new clothes rack, which I assumed would need some rudimentary assembly, but didn't. Result.
And I've sorted out an annoying basket of gloves, umbrellas etc.

And before I go to bed I WILL clear the coffee table so I can move it to the side of the room so I have space to do 10 minutes of yoga every day.

I last did mine several months ago. I am not sure when I could fit yours in!

FreestyleVibe · 23/11/2022 07:38

Only ticked off a couple of 2-minute jobs yesterday:
I renewed my son's magazine subscription and booked a free trial at the gym I've been meaning to join for 6 months.

But it was a busy working day, and I still managed to hoover and mop the whole house inbetween meetings, as well as a run at lunchtime.

ShinyHatStand · 23/11/2022 08:44

Good effort @FreestyleVibe

I cleaned out a wardrobe drawer today. I often think I can’t do these jobs because it will take hours and I don’t have time. The reality is this took 10 minutes!

StewardsEnquiry · 23/11/2022 13:42

Wow I am so impressed by everyone doing all of these great jobs! Taking things to the charity shop is an amazing feat of achievement in addition to just doing the sorting and clearing.

And painting kitchen cupboards? <swoons>

I have sent some emails that I needed to send for a week, and sorted out one drawer in my dressing table.

Lentilweaver · 23/11/2022 13:47

I have filled out a long, boring questionnaire that I really needed to for work, but have been sitting on for two weeks. Also dealt with the post.

Off to get my flu jab now and mop the floor. The excitement never ends.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 23/11/2022 13:51

Sent all packages back that have been in the boot of the car for about 10 days.

tootiredtobother · 23/11/2022 13:55

hello all
i've washed and polished to a shine - yes really, all the condiments and bottles of oils etc that sit near the stove top, looks so much better in that corner.
Yesterday I par cooked and froze my roast potatoes, parsnips, bread sauce, cranberry sauce.

StewardsEnquiry · 23/11/2022 14:42

@HollyBollyBooBoo it takes me ages to post things and I end up driving things round on a tour of the local area for weeks! Well done.

@tootiredtobother I bet your kitchen corner now looks awesome.

@Lentilweaver great work on the questionnaire. It's off your list now.

LemonDrizzles · 23/11/2022 16:38

I went through the children toys and got rid of almost 1/2 the cars. Put aside all the under 1 toys I don't want to toss but in a storage box for loft. Can't believe I actually got around to doing it!!!!

Goldieshock · 23/11/2022 16:55

Returned some packages at the post office
Hung up some pictures in the lounge that have needed doing for a couple of years (!)
Emptied the robot hoover and cleaned all its parts

clary · 23/11/2022 21:11

Continuing my good work in the study, I tidied my desk. Big pile of books that I need (marie Kondo says a pile is better), then sorted through stack of papers, some of related to things happening 18 months ago! A lot of recycling there. Desk is LOADS nicer now.

clary · 23/11/2022 21:14

Picture of my tidy desk. Bottle is allowed as it is cuticle oil I use when on a boring Teams call Grin

ShinyHatStand · 23/11/2022 21:33

Nice desk. My manky keyboard has just gone on my todo list.

I sorted out some crap in the living room that meant I could move the furniture to a layout that gives me space for yoga. I gave up the yoga space in our spare room so that ds1 can have somewhere to study that isn't his bedroom.
It isn't properly sorted but at last most of the crap is in the right room in the house ready to be sorted another day.
Then I did some yoga. First time in about 9 months,
Shockingly stiff legs - too much running without proper stretching
