A new 'one (small) job a day' thread

Can't find an active one of these, which I found massively motivating in the past.
The idea is to try and tackle one job around the house every day and report back. Even a really small job counts, especially if it's been irritating you for a while.

I've just sorted out the drawers in the hall that we use for shoes, bags etc. Took about 15 mins. More crap to throw away than I'd expected and I found all the gloves that had gone awol.

Put screen wash in my car and also cleaned the number plates.

Cleared the tut out of a bag I’ve remembered I own and might start to use.

mum2jakie · 30/01/2023 22:20

Hoovered under the bed and disposed of some old paperwork today.

I had a good weekend for getting those irritating little jobs done....

I did my tax return 😇

Ordered ds' 2023 karate licence.
Filled up my car screen wash.
Bought two of those stretchy hook things and tethered the first aid kit and the petrol can so they don't roll around the boot of the car any more.
Planted 50 narcissi bulbs I had left over.

Yesterday I managed to:

  • Book a massage using the voucher I got for Christmas
  • Write birthdays and appointments in new diary
  • Book Asda delivery slots for the next 3 weeks

Four??? I’m in awe! Well done!

I’ve managed two and the weekly shop. I left DH to unpack it all as DD was crying and now I can’t find anything. Also, I was sure I had bought some Cadbury’s crème eggs but DH says he didn’t unpack them. I’m suspicious…

Started application for DS for job (he needs a lot of support).

Cleaned ceilings (cobwebs) and under TV as part of today's normal clean.

My ds needs lots of support too. Remember a covering letter if possible.

For jobs try to apply to the websites direct rather than Indeed. Though Indeed is useful as a starting point. HTH.

Sorry if veering off the point of the thread.

clary · 01/02/2023 11:23

mutleyschuckle · 06/02/2023 15:20

I've taken my mum & nan into town so they could do a big shop & get it back in my car (not a housey job but a kind one) I've filled a bin bag of old clothes for the charity shop which I will drop off tomorrow after work. sorted through my sons school uniform drawers & donating any that are too small, booked eye appointments for me & the child, hoovered mopped & got 3 lots of washing out. However this is only been possible to a random day off work to use up annual leave & my lovely dog Walker still taking the hound out.

mum2jakie · 08/02/2023 12:38

Emptied a cupboard shelf of out of date spices/flour etc and just need to wipe it out completely and move a few items around to clear the kitchen worktop.

Calphurnia · 09/02/2023 08:40

Bag of clothes to textile recycling bank on the way to school ✔️

mum2jakie · 09/02/2023 18:54

Cutlery drawer cleaned, tidied and five broken/unwanted items disposed of.

mum2jakie · 10/02/2023 18:30

Tried to clean the microwave but soon discovered that the interior was rusting rather than dirty. Rather than put it off for another day, have purchased a replacement from Argos and it is now already in use!

IloveRickyGervaisAndHisTeeth · 10/02/2023 18:33

I sorted out the storage drawers in the living room - they were full of old Mother's Day, Christmas, and birthday cards from my (adult) sons, dating back to 2010! I've kept the ones for the past 3 years but got rid of the others.

clary · 10/02/2023 18:54

Been busy this week:

  • Sorted DS prescription
  • Done some jobs for the website of the club I volunteer at
  • Put some stuff on ebay
  • Chased up a book that I ordered and had not heard about
  • Sorted out my skincare stash and put a few items to gift
  • Worked with DD on interview questions (and she got the job!)
  • Finished ironing (not sure that counts as it is not extra but it's always good
Calphurnia · 10/02/2023 19:03

Bought a birthday present in advance ✔️

mum2jakie · 11/02/2023 21:49

Bought an undershelf wire basket to store bananas and keep the worktop looking clearer.
