One of my friends recently said that she didn't want to go abroad ever again.

For me it is baking, I used to love it but cba with all the faff weighing, mess etc when M&S and the local bakery do it perfectly.

I thought of another. Going to concerts. I have had a fab time at big arena gigs but nowadays they’re so expensive and I just don’t see the point. I can listen to songs at home. It’s not like you’re meeting the person or anything, they’re just on a stage, sometimes miles away if you haven’t got brilliant seats!

I could still enjoy classical concerts but a city near to be that used to do a fantastic international concert season has never fully reinstated it, just does crappy chamber music recitals. Because covid. So it’s not always easy to find great concerts and it’s a little too expensive to go to the proms.

Phos - I had tickets for a band’s last tour ever and couldn’t be bothered to go, so I sold them. On the night I should have gone I had a smile on my face getting into bed, because I didn’t have the hassle of getting to and from the gig.
I’ve got tickets for my long time favourite band next year, but I’m pretty sure I’ll sell them too.

Oh also group socialising or even couples socialising. I seem to prefer one-to-one these days. It's fine for an activity but it if it is just lunch or coffee I can't cope with too many convos.

Christmas cards. Giving and receiving.
Coronation Street.
Commuting.
Cleaning.

Mine all seem to begin with C. Grin

Lots of these posts resonate with me and I had just assumed it was a function of ageing, in that older you get the less things you have the energy for, and the less you can be bothered to do stuff that's no fun any more. That way, the older generation clears space for the next lot to get out there. I'd love to see a correlation between the age of each poster and the thing's they've stopped doing/enjoying

What's happened to us?

I CBA with ANYTHING......

Except music, it's my only interest and I mean only....

I'm the opposite. I used to listen to music all the time and now I can't be arsed. I seem to have gone off everything I used to like and even though I have a Spotify account and an Alexa, I have no clue what to play on them.

CoodleMoodle · 14/11/2022 17:13

Me too with baking. I make 2 cakes a year one for each DC (plus another identical one if they have a party), and that's it. I used to love baking.

Writing too. I was a prolific writer of fanfiction for years and years, now I do Nanowrimo 3x a year and that's it. I miss it so much but I just can't get back into it.

Reading is the same, unless I'm really enjoying a book. If it doesn't grip me in the first three or four pages then I usually give up.

Ihateboris · 14/11/2022 17:36

Coronation Street
Emmerdale
Eastenders
Stopped watching during lockdown and just cba to get back into it.
Expensive skincare and facials - I now just use Astral and my skin actually looks better for it.

Late nights out. Especially if they don't involve food. I don't like late nights in much either.

The thought of working all day then getting ready to go out leaves me cold. And then the noise.

I'm making a concerted effort to read more. I've always loved reading but let it slip lately.

Clothes shopping. Lived for it. I’d take a day out in the city or to a nice shopping centre, or my favourite department store. Sit down for a lovely lunch, maybe have a drink.

The shops were so well merchandised, the clothes were gorgeous. The quality was good. The prices were decent. I’d come home with armfuls of bags.

A high street spree wouldn’t break the bank. I still have loads of my good stuff. Shoes, bags, accessories. The clothes that still fit. Timeless items that have lasted.

Shopping is shite now. The experience is totally different. The clothes are terrible. And expensive! I’ve changed too, of course. Back then I’d wear them all on Saturday night!
