One of my friends recently said that she didn't want to go abroad ever again.

For me it is baking, I used to love it but cba with all the faff weighing, mess etc when M&S and the local bakery do it perfectly.

Soak in the bath. It takes too long to run, and I feel obliged to lie in it whilst simultaneously thinking about all the things I need to be doing.

I'm so glad to read this. I always thought I was the only person in the world who couldnt relax in the bath. Same with hairdresser appointments, I'm constantly watching the clock.

caroleanboneparte · 13/11/2022 18:49

This is why I don't have anything in common with my peers!

I mostly socialise with younger women because I want to squeeze the most out of life.

AfricanAmericanFriday · 13/11/2022 18:50

Reading books. I used to be a bookworm. I used to read about 20-25 books a year on average. Now I read about 2-3.
I partially blame the internet. I watch more films/series because they are only a click away. Generally more screen time. I travel more. I exercise more etc..

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 13/11/2022 18:41

That's such a shame ummmwtaf. Is there something else creative that you could do instead?

I wish there was but I just feel so drained of creativity and motivation. 2 DDs who are very full on and work has just knocked the stuffing out of me. Sadly I do nothing creative with my DDs which is heartbreaking.

Reading. I've tried so hard and books don't hold my attention anymore. I used to be a book worm but i can't be bothered to preserve anymore.

Yes same!

I've asked for a kindle for Christmas so I can hopefully get back into reading.

Baking
Sex
Noisy nights out- I've got a few health issues at the moment and one manifestation is I can't hack really loud noise or really bright light

I've never been good with really loud noise. I seem to have a very low tolerance to it, especially unnatural noise.

Crikey. I couldn’t go through life with so little enthusiasm! I still love socialising, going out, travelling, exercising, shopping etc etc.

like a PP I don’t have the attention span for a physical book since DD but I listen to audiobooks constantly.

It’s maybe a question of degree though. Before children I’d arrive in work, find an invitation to drinks in New York and have my secretary book me a flight out to attend. Nowadays it’s rare to do anything more exotic than a weekend in Monaco.

For some people it would once have been a spa weekend and is now a massage by a local masseuse.

Pedallleur · 13/11/2022 18:56

Watch bands. Used to go to 2 - 5 a week. Then the prices started creeping up but the booking fee was what killed it for me and how tickets in the good seats where now an experience. Time was you got in early or went to the venue now it's game of phones and paying £100 or more to see artists I saw at the top of their game for £15. They are multimillionaires and become so after every tour it would seem. I'll pass thanks.

Libre2 · 13/11/2022 18:57

Please, please just do one small thing tomorrow- for you and for them. Just try. This whole thread I have found a bit sad but I am SO sad in your loss of artistry all because of some wanky lecturer at art college. It’s a huge waste.

Clovacloud · 13/11/2022 18:58

I really need to buy a new car, mine’s 12 years old and done 170k miles . I used to love buying them, now can’t be arsed. Ditto phones and Tech.
Cooking, it’s beyond boring cooking meals for your family everyday for 20 years. So I’ve stopped they can sort themselves out now.
Clothes shopping/Trying clothes on, everything makes me feel old and fat.
Hairdressers, it takes too long to get your hair dyed. I don’t have 2-3 hours for people to fanny about with my hair.
Christmas with the in laws, ok when the kids were little. Now unbearable.
Reading, I have zero attention span
Eating out, too noisy, too many people, slow service and expensive.

Thankfully still love lots of other things!

bloomtoperish · 13/11/2022 18:59

Doing arts and crafts in the house with DS. I'm happy to go somewhere else to do them, but doing them at home just reminds me too much of lockdown I think

eztiger · 13/11/2022 18:59

barskits · 13/11/2022 15:48

Horse riding, or indeed anything to do with horses at all. Used to be obsessed, spent most of my teens at the stables, and had a horse of my own.

Totally over it now, although I still love to look at them.

OMG barskits I’m 100% with you. My mare has been chilling out in retirement livery for the last two years because somehow it changed from an obsession to a chore and I can’t face it anymore

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 13/11/2022 19:03

Saturday morning pictures. It wS great, only sixpence and you wore a badge that glowed in the dark (probably made out of radioactive material not I think about it 🤔

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 13/11/2022 19:06

Bit of a ragged entry there, it kept putting duplicate emojis which I was trying to get rid of and then it suddenly posted! A,h well you probably get the idea...

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 13/11/2022 19:07

Another on the reading. I was a huge bookworm, the sort that would take more books on holiday than clothes! I tackled The Ink Black Heart (finished it today) and I read some books over the summer. I have to say I sleep so much better when I'm reading and doing less screen time. I think phones and screens are sapping the life and attention spans out of so many people (inc me). It really bothers me.

keeprunning55 · 13/11/2022 19:10

dieting. love food too much.

Greyarea12 · 13/11/2022 19:12

Cooking - Used to love cooking but these days I just cba.

Clothes shopping - used to love it but now I hate when it's busy, cba to try anything on, hate queuing and hate carrying loads of bags around.

Reading - used to love it. I just cannot get into it again.

Stangerthings · 13/11/2022 19:15

Ironing bloody tea towels, they are screwed up after on wipe.

annonymousse · 13/11/2022 19:19

Wear make up. I used to love wearing it and wouldn't dream of leaving the house without it but it's just too much effort these days.

IDidntKnowItWasAParty · 13/11/2022 19:20

... it's been over a decade and the I'll feelings won't budge.

There are some amazing YouTube videos by artists that might reignite your love for it.

TheTeddyBears · 13/11/2022 19:35

Work Christmas night out - I just cani be arsed with all the hassle and no longer have any close friends at work. They've moved on to other jobs 🙁 and now we all wfh I don't know anyone well. The do is always in city centre so I have to get taxi then a train then a taxi to the venue or worse walk then bus forever. It was also £40 for a lunch! Plus outfit, taxi home, drinks and everything else ur talking £159 maybe even more! It's also never been that great a night even when we were a close team.

Clothes shopping too! I used to love going shopping now I'm really not that bothered. I often end up finding the same thing for cheaper online even in say new look. Found a nice blazer it was about £40 was going to buy thought I wld check online and there was 25% off code! It's so simple to return stuff especially when Royalmail now collect from ur house 😃 I love online shopping! My husband eye rolls at the amount of parcels arriving and return I end up doing 🙈😂

But for many people they USED to do stuff but can't be arsed now! That's what the thread is about. Confused No need to be judgemental and pitying. Hmm

Em - are you lot ok?????

the only two things I can think of are cross stitching (and I know I’ll go back at some pout) and giving a shit what people think. The rest l still love - I may not have as much time for it these days but still love it all.

Another patronising and condescending comment. Hmm
