I feel I need to start this. I have so many gripes at the moment, and I just want to moan without the pressure of having to move on to solutions. I am trying to solve them too, but sometimes they can't be easily solved.

Here's my current one: I hate cooking for the family and the mental load that comes with it. Yes, they cook for themselves sometimes, yes, I batch cook sometimes, yes I don't put up with fussiness, yes we do simple meals sometimes, yes yes yes to all of that. But sometimes I still hate it! And I want to be able to moan! Also takeaways have got so expensive and we can't have as many as we used to, so cooking at home all the time.

You rant away

ThunderMoo · 08/11/2022 16:11

I HATE THE PLASTIC FILM ON THE TOP OF MILK BOTTLES

BloodyShoes · 08/11/2022 16:19

Oh can I moan.

Im sick and tired of doing all of the mental load. Well 90% of it and since I now WFH, which I hate, I seem to do more.

I feel like Cinderella with a full time job on top. DP just doesn't agree. All my AL goes in childcare or school things. My days off are on weekends where he works shifts so mostly I'm on my own with the kids. DP days off are mostly in the week we're the kids are at school so he gets time to himself.

Im sick of it.

Glwysen · 08/11/2022 16:22

I am also sick of meal planning / cooking!! So sick of it, I hate it.

They would all just eat chips if it wasn’t for me. I feel like just letting them.

Lentilweaver · 08/11/2022 16:26

Oh that leads me nicely into another moan. DH and I both WFH now. I don't have a choice, but DP does, but will he leave our bedroom. Will he hell?

I raise you packs where you're supposed to be able to peel back from a corner and reseal but they're impossible to grip and peel. Some packaging of this type works so there's no excuse for the many that don't.

oh yes. If I am not around they would all just eat toast or crisps. DD can go hours without meals so would just starve though she is perfectly capable of cooking a meal.

my mental health is in the toilet, but I daren’t take any time off as I’m interviewing for less pressured jobs and don’t want to balls up my chances at referencing stage. I’m barely getting through the days with an obnoxious ceo and it’s killing me.

tiredmumma93 · 08/11/2022 16:53

Cars been in the garage for 4 months, mechanic is a "friend" and is taking the piss. The job is going to cost over a grand and I'm struggling to cope without a car.
Would LOVE to lose my shit with him but I'm too sodding polite. He ignores my messages and I'm at my wits end.
School run now takes me an hour - half hour to walk each way, so knackered before I even start work.
Work is pretty crap. Mental health is even worse.
I would just like to be happy 🙃

Yes! And I have to stab them with a knife as I sometimes struggle with scissors

I HATE THE PLASTIC FILM ON THE TOP OF MILK BOTTLES

Especially when it separates from the foil so you have to stab it with something to get it off...

AND I HATE THE PLASTIC WRAPPING AROUND BOTTLES OF MOUTHWASH

BlackeyedGruesome · 08/11/2022 17:38

And the foil round the top of cheap balsamic vinegar. Tiny tab. Disabled fingers. Not a good combination.

cosypeppermint · 08/11/2022 17:39

Also Sainsbury’s have started putting their plum sauce in a non-squeeze glass bottle, the plastic fastener on the top is impossible to pull off and then you can’t squeeze it. FFS.

Mammma91 · 08/11/2022 17:42

i needed this.

I am sick to the back teeth of working 2 jobs whilst being a mum to a ND toddler under an autism assessment with gastric issues. I am also at the reference stages of a 3rd job (all part time jobs around toddler). I am exhausted. Carry the full mental load and DP won’t shut the fuck up about how much he hates his current boss knowing full well I’m on burnout. Mental health is shit. On top of that; our LO was sent home from nursery yesterday afternoon really ill and has been floored screaming all day. Who has to arrange childcare so I can work tomorrow? Me. Same for Friday and working all weekend when DP is off. Also who is financing all of Christmas, arranging it all, buying and wrapping??! Me

exhausted.

sorry to everyone else who’s mental health is taking a hit. 💙

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 08/11/2022 18:03

Oh yes!

My back hurts (inoperable spinal cord injury) and the medication gives me brain fog and every fucker has a solution. I’m not stupid, if it was possible to think up a solution in the 30 seconds it’s taken since I mentioned the problem, I’d have thought of it for myself and have done it, wouldn’t I? Or maybe my highly educated and specialist consultant would have?

Also yes I hate meal planning. Dh offers to cook - bugger that. The cooking is the easy part.

mackthepony · 08/11/2022 18:31

Meal planning here too, I mean Wtaf did we sign up for?

I also need to get divorced

I ALSO HATE THIS I HAVE TO ASK MY HUSBAND TO INTERVENE

ThunderMoo · 08/11/2022 18:33

Also none of my washing is drying and I'm running out of clean pants

Sainsburys were charging £3.25 for one of those Fulfil Protein bars last night. Tonight the same store (one of those city convenience stores) had them on offer at £1.50 each. So I stocked up & bought 3.
Massive queue behind me at the till & they came up at £2.20 each. (We had a chocolate lolly for £1 or something as well.) I said Yes when he asked if I wanted the receipt. Checked the receipt then very politely as a whisper (embarrassed to be quibbling about 3 lots of 70p) I said “actually you have them priced at £1.50 on the shelf”. There was a Big Red Sign, almost had a flashing light & arrow. On Offer.
He then starts hugging & puffing & sighing & pissing around on his screen.
He clearly made a mistake in the transaction but didn’t want to let on. Meanwhile I can feel about 9 pairs of eyes boring into the back of my head so I say “actually it’s fine I don’t really need them”.
So that I can cut my losses & leave.
SO YOU MEAN You Don’t WANT Them NOW??
I’m TRYING YO GIVE THEM TO YOU AT THE REDUCED PRICE.

I had to go back that way again so I went in to check the price. They’ve taken the £1.50 sign down.

Fuckers.

GuyFawkesDay · 08/11/2022 19:16

I hate my job. But I have been doing it too long to change. Totally trapped. It's so shit at the moment and my MH is shot and I haven't got the energy for my own family and self after putting on my professional happy face in the classroom each sodding day.

DH is rapidly turning into an old man in his habits. I may have to extend the patio. He WFH yet I I still come home to dirty washing up every day.

I hate new toilets rolls. Especially when required at 2am. Trying to "start" the roll is a PITA. They never do so straight and you end up with metres of shredded skinny bits of bog roll and getting crosser and crosser especially as I am trying to do this with my dog trying to grab the ends too as he's inevitably and inexplicably followed me to spectate my mid-night pee.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 08/11/2022 19:49

I'm good at my job, really good at my job. But it now means I'm having to pick up the slack for everyone else on my team (and managers) to bring everyone else work up to my standard.

I'm worrying that I will drop a ball somewhere because I'm trying to do so much, and will suddenly be seen as not good at my job. The pressure to be perfect is overwhelming. It's my fault as I agree to do the extra work.

I too hate cooking, every damn day. I also loathe making lunch boxes for school.

Yes they do this, the cheeky fuckers! I thought it was just our old local store but clearly not! Wanted to buy a twin pack of Digestives, had them on offer for £1.50 I think? Took them to the self checkout and it’s £3. I called an assistant over and they actually checked for me, then came back with “oh yes it’s on offer but the price hasn’t been updated on the system”… ok so you can just fix it on the till right? “No you have to pay for it, then go to customer services & get a partial refund”… as if people did that! I bet they bank on people not wanting to make a fuss & just paying the more expensive price. As I said, cheeky fuckers! I actually reported them to trading standards, doubt anything will come of it though…

My rant… well not really a rant as I don’t want to out myself, so I won’t go into detail, but I’m so tired of my SIL, she’s childish, petulant, grumpy etc.. such hard work and she has no manners really. I try and be nice to her for my partner’s sake but jesus she irritates me so much sometimes. Especially when she’s shitty to partner as he really cares a lot about her.
