In my case it's sourdough. I hate sourdough bread and while the pizzas are generally ok, I still prefer regular pizza dough but so many places seem to be switching to sourdough.

Also, putting biscuits on top of other sweet things. What's wrong with just a plain brownie? Sticking a Party ring on top doesn't improve it.

Salted caramel. I love salted caramel but it's in everything!

Yes, it's tiresome.

My bug bear is pea shoots. Why why are they topping practically every meal I get. I suppose it used to be parsley but I am fed up with finding it on dishes. Though dh doesn't get it on his Ulster fry.

Where do you get your Ulster fry from. I have been yearning for it and nowhere seems to sell it any more, Only reference I can find is to a full breakfast and I want Ulster fry slices. the sticky red greasy slices of my childhood.

Menus that are a list of ingredients and tell you nothing about what the dish actually is and how any of those ingredients might be prepared.

Normally appear something like: salmon, hazelnut, spinach, twix, miso.

I just want to know what I’m eating, thanks.

Kpo58 · 04/11/2022 14:59

Beetroot in sushi. Beetroot does not belong there!

reesewithoutaspoon · 04/11/2022 15:00

Herbs in puddings, especially when they dont tell you.
I love a good sharp citrus pud and once ordered a lime mousse. should have been a lovely end to the meal, a good palate cleanse but the fuckers had put basil in it and it was horrible. ditto lavender with lemon...

Switching things that were nicely vegetarian to vegan. I know they probably think it kills two birds with one stone on a menu but it’s bloody annoying. I still want cheese!!

Yes this!!

I appreciate that there's now more choice as veganism has really taken off, but..

A) I hate vegan cheese

B) lots of vegan foods seem to be nutty, and I'm allergic

SuffolkUnicorn · 04/11/2022 15:08

Cookie dough it’s rank

xogossipgirlxo · 04/11/2022 15:12

Avocado on toast as the only way of living and eating.

blondiecurly · 04/11/2022 15:17

Gold covered food. Never eaten it but it doesnt look appetizing and all of it is way overpriced because it looks expensive

BlackForestCake · 04/11/2022 15:19

You are eating actual gold, of course it is expensive

It adds nothing to the dish but Price.

This. x100.

Salted fucking caramel.

All food served on slates, buckets, shovels, dinky little chip pans... it can all get in the sea. Please bring my food on a plate.

I like brioche buns though.

There is a restaurant in Milton Keynes that sells gold-covered chicken wings! They are the naffest food items i have ever seen (and i speak as someone who never met a chicken wing she didn't like)!!

Kapalika · 04/11/2022 15:50

Salted caramel here too. I quite like it, but total overkill.
Oreo biscuit on every cake or cupcake. That’s just lazy.
vegan food. I have to double check everything just in case.

glittereyelash · 04/11/2022 15:51

I hate brunch menus it's usually 15 quid for eggs and avocado or some tiny salad. Any of the icecream places that have bizarre flavours with a million toppings. Dressed fries are lovely for about two bites then I feel sick. Breakfast pizzas are just disgusting. Flavoured coffees are all too sweet.

JadeSeahorse · 04/11/2022 15:55

This won't be popular at all but can anyone make anything these days without putting garlic in it?

Vile stuff! 🤮🤮🤮

NashvilleQueen · 04/11/2022 16:18

I actually like almost everything mentioned on here save goldfish bowl glasses for gin. I detest them. Give me a hi-ball any day.

Ringmaster27 · 04/11/2022 16:21

Avocado on anything 🤢
It tastes like soap. No I don’t want it on my toast, or with my eggs or baked into my brownies.

ElizabethBest · 04/11/2022 16:23

deconstructed puddings - I don't want a smear of something creamy, sprinkled with dehydrated apple dust, served in a flowerpot made of matcha and locusts, I want an apple crumble and custard served in a normal bloody bowl!

Toddlerteaplease · 04/11/2022 16:34

Salted caramel.

Foods can be contaminated with gluten (and other allergens) during manufacturing, so this is absolutely necessary for coeliacs and allergen sufferers.

I wasn't aware of that. 🤷‍♀️
