What food trends are you tired of?

In my case it's sourdough. I hate sourdough bread and while the pizzas are generally ok, I still prefer regular pizza dough but so many places seem to be switching to sourdough.

Also, putting biscuits on top of other sweet things. What's wrong with just a plain brownie? Sticking a Party ring on top doesn't improve it.

I'm not tired of it because I don't participate but I really can't believe that people eat protein in powdered form and consider it normal.

Lopilo · 03/11/2022 20:25

I totally agree about the sourdough.

A580Hojas · 03/11/2022 20:25

Also, not being able to find a soft drink without fucking aspartame in it.

Daisychainsandglitter · 03/11/2022 20:26

Cupcakes with loads and of icing heaped on top. I mourn the little fairy cakes of my youth with just a small amount of buttercream.
Agree with a previous poster about replacing vegetarian options with only vegan options. Very irritating!

Lightningfast · 03/11/2022 20:27

Butterboards? Yet to make their way out of London perhaps? Literally never heard of them. Is it another way of saying something else?

Greeneyegirl · 03/11/2022 20:27

Dont like sourdough bread. Just tastes like stale crusty bread and cuts the roof of my mouth

Biscuits on things like brownies and blondies etc. Are heaven. Biscoff blondies...twix brownies. Omg heaven

AffIt · 03/11/2022 20:27

Sourdough.

My OH went mad for making the fucking stuff over lockdown and I swear if I never eat another piece of sourdough it will be too soon.

Vegan cheese can fuck right off, too.

A580Hojas · 03/11/2022 20:28

I agree about cakes covered in sweets and biscuits. Gross.

Coconutcream123 · 03/11/2022 20:28

@Daisychainsandglitter ah yes, I just want a cake not a mountain of icing. I forgot that one.

Knnniggets · 03/11/2022 20:29

cakes with a thick layer of fondant that you basically need a pick axe to get through. They exist to make nice photos on Instagram but are essentially icing with cake rather than cake with icing.

Dragonskin · 03/11/2022 20:29

Brioche, and serving food on boards

Thursa · 03/11/2022 20:30

Massive hot chocolates, with about half a dozen toppings on it, most of which are oozing down the side of the mug. Actually makes me feel sick seeing them.

tillytoodles1 · 03/11/2022 20:31

Bloody cinnamon in everything. I hate it!

Hoolihan · 03/11/2022 20:32

Butter boards are all over tiktok and look truly disgusting.

Would also add small plates, restaurants that don't take reservations, kimchi.

Because you've tried every vegan cheese under the sun, right?

PixelatedLunchbox · 03/11/2022 20:32

Serving food on slabs of wood or slate. Just give me a freaking plate, PLEASE !Envy

CherryRipe1 · 03/11/2022 20:33

Barbecue restaurants that serve up your meats hanging from hook rack things & everyone goes 'Ooooh'. Later comes the meat coma.

SuffolkUnicorn · 03/11/2022 20:33

Biscoff tastes like burnt ginger nuts

nutella

Lightningfast · 03/11/2022 20:33

Tapas. Few things annoy me more. I’m not a food sharer and I like a decent amount of food all to myself.

Sparklingbrook · 03/11/2022 20:35

Stuff like this makes me queasy. You have a Cupcake, why do you need the biscuit or other stuff on top?

Agreed. Sometimes you just want a cake, on its own, without a twix and a random candy cane stabbed through the top. Who tf thought that was a good idea?

Those freakshake type drinks and ott ice cream desserts in takeaway boxes need to die out too!!

itwasntmetho · 03/11/2022 20:39

Drip cakes.
Whoever invented them came up with something surprising and original, they are neither of those things now, it's harder to get a professional cake that isn't a drip cake.

Fluffluff · 03/11/2022 20:39

Biscoff and sourgh dough

Clingfilm · 03/11/2022 20:39

Burgers in general. Most places seem have about 6 on their menu, booooring.

Cakes that look amazing but taste of nothing e.g red velvet.

Coffee - how do these cafes make money from 10 people nursing 1 coffee over their mac books for 2 hours?

MoreTeaLessCoffee · 03/11/2022 20:40

Rainbow cakes and Red velvet cakes.
Gin and tonic in those massive wine glasses with lots of ice.

But I'm really pleased goats cheese has gone out of fashion. It used to be on every other vegetarian dish and I hate(d) it.
