In my case it's sourdough. I hate sourdough bread and while the pizzas are generally ok, I still prefer regular pizza dough but so many places seem to be switching to sourdough.

Also, putting biscuits on top of other sweet things. What's wrong with just a plain brownie? Sticking a Party ring on top doesn't improve it.

I went to a tourist attraction the other day which advertised it had a vegetarian/vegan cafe (I am neither). I was, however, looking forward to eating some tasty home made meat free lunch. I very nearly ordered a cheese and chutney roll until I noticed the vegan label and knew immediately that I didn't want to eat fake cheese. I really feel sorry for vegetarians now as menus seem to have been taken over by fake dairy products.

I've just come back from Spain looove Tapas. You get to try everything.

True, but what if it’s delicious? You then can’t have more than a tiny portion if everyone else is digging into it as well. #stillhungry

Littleguggi · 03/11/2022 22:02

Microwave mug cakes
Microwave eggs
Microwave rice 🤢
Microwave anything tbh

Twilight7777 · 03/11/2022 22:04

Salted caramel. It’s had it’s day surely?!

Wineat5isfine · 03/11/2022 22:04

Butter boards - what the hell is that all about??

We have a lovely selection of pubs / restaurants in our area, but not one does a decent cheeseboard. The cheese selections are fine, but the cracker are awful. Wafer thin water biscuits / charcoal crackers 🤮 Bring back proper crackers!! What’s wrong with a Hovis biscuit / Jacobs cracker!

Presenting an example of a butter board….

Hmm Looks like a flowery puddle of vomit.

ilovepixie · 03/11/2022 22:07

Sourdough. Why would you want a sour taste in your mouth! Horrible.

EspeciallyD · 03/11/2022 22:10

Agree with salted caramel and cakes with biscuits and sweets heaped up on them.

Also grazing boards and tables, so much nicer to have separate dishes of different food items.

And chips served in little baskets instead of on a plate (no boards thank you).

Lotusmonster · 03/11/2022 22:12

Sharing plates in restaurants.
Kimchi
quinoa
deconstructions
beef, duck etc “3 ways”
dirty fries

Lotusmonster · 03/11/2022 22:13

Krispy crème donuts …so expensive and totally crap.

Jellywobblescobbles · 03/11/2022 22:16

Cookie pies, wtaf. Inedible gross raw cookie dough. These things are sickly as hell.

Takingturnstogether · 03/11/2022 22:18

Another one who doesn't like salted caramel.

Also - gin and anything gin flavoured, Quorn, truffle flavoured things, chilli chocolate ( love chilli and chocolate, just not together).

Brioche buns with burgers. I love a good burger but brioche buns utterly ruin them!

This! Why would you want a sweet burger bun? Who thought it was a good idea??

woohoowoohoo · 03/11/2022 22:20

Vegan cheese on veggie pizzas . One of the great joys in being veggie is cheese !

CantSleepCountingSheep · 03/11/2022 22:21

Skinnermarink · 03/11/2022 20:11

Switching things that were nicely vegetarian to vegan. I know they probably think it kills two birds with one stone on a menu but it’s bloody annoying. I still want cheese!!

Yep. Vegan "cheese" is 🤮

Sparklingbrook · 03/11/2022 22:23

Isn’t a lot of vegan cheese made from coconut? 🤢

reesewithoutaspoon · 03/11/2022 22:28

came on here to say brioche buns with burgers. Fucking gross and weirdly sweet and end up a soggy mushy mess if there are any juices whatsoever in the burger.
Wish that trend would do one.

Dreamingcats · 03/11/2022 22:29

Totally agree re sourdough and brioche burgers. Vile.

I am fed up with all the yoghurt becoming low fat. I despise low fat yoghurt, it has to be full fat or nothing. The choice is so much smaller than it used to be. Generally I just have plain Greek yoghurt now. Or Rachel's ginger yoghurt when my supermarket has it in stock.

Supermarket sandwiches with mayonnaise. I loathe mayonnaise and its almost impossible to find pre-packed sandwiches without mayonnaise or other sauces (pickle etc). Blurgh. Fortunately it's rare that I need to buy one.

Chorizo
You know it's donkey meat right?

100% not true!

Whitney168 · 03/11/2022 22:30

Another vote against the brioche bun on a burger, so wrong. Also, truffle on everything.

gobbynorthernbird · 03/11/2022 22:32

Merguez sausages were traditionally donkey meat.

I'm trying to work out why PP would have a problem with beetroot raita. It's delicious (and definitely not new or trendy).

AltheaVestr1t · 03/11/2022 22:32

Places only offering truffle chips. I have no problem with truffle chips being an option, but please can I have the chips without the truffle?

TenoringBehind · 03/11/2022 22:32

I’m with you on sourdough OP. I don’t get the appeal, It tastes unpleasant to me, even in pizza form.

not a fan of cakes or doughnuts with biscuits on top, or OTT brownies with a bit of everything thrown in (marshmallows, chocolate orange pieces, rolos etc)

salted caramel

butter boards are just silly

brioche burger buns

grazing tables

Whynobreadpudding · 03/11/2022 22:35

Calories on the menu, has put me right off.

ODFOx · 03/11/2022 22:37

Grazing tables/boxes/boards. We're more aware now than ever before on the risks of cross contamination so why in Gods name did this become a thing?
And after the first 2 people have gone past it looks like someone has taken a garden rake to the whole thing. Grim.
