In my case it's sourdough. I hate sourdough bread and while the pizzas are generally ok, I still prefer regular pizza dough but so many places seem to be switching to sourdough.

Also, putting biscuits on top of other sweet things. What's wrong with just a plain brownie? Sticking a Party ring on top doesn't improve it.

Brioche buns with burgers. I love a good burger but brioche buns utterly ruin them!

Hell yes! Quickest way to ruin a decent burger.

Catterbat · 03/11/2022 20:42

TOTALLY agree with all burger related responses. Brioche is shit, and I don’t want 15 sauces, pork ribs, waffles, marshmallows and a bloody hash brown on my burger. I just want a burger with normal cheese and a bit of salad in it, on a non-cake bun that won’t disintegrate before I lift it off the plate.

BobbysGirly · 03/11/2022 20:42

Biscoff and Avacado. Both are vile 🤮

BCBird · 03/11/2022 20:43

I agree re salted caramel. I.told a colleague I didn't like scallops to be told that it probably because they weren't cooked properly. No. I just don't like em.

LubaLuca · 03/11/2022 20:44

I agree about biscuits on top of cakes and things - they must be so soggy by the time anyone eats them and then what's the point?

Sparklingbrook · 03/11/2022 20:45

I hate Camembert (sp) the smell, the taste, all of it. I just get told I'm not doing it properly. I just don't like it, it's not allowed in the house now.

KatieBenz · 03/11/2022 20:48

Poncy pub menus. I want to go to a pub to relax, have a few glasses of (overpriced) wine and a nice comforting (bog standard) meal, not this sort of stuff

Restaurants whose vegetarian options have fake cheese and Quorn type things. I know good restaurants don't have large menus but it's just lazy to lump vegetarian in with vegan all the time.

catsonahottinroof · 03/11/2022 20:49

Agree with the burgers - most are too thick nowadays and often come with all sorts stacked on top, including bacon and chilli con carne! It should be plain or with cheese/salad and sauce optional. I don't personally mind brioche but I know others can't stand it with burgers.
Also don't like the vegan everything with no vegetarian alternatives. Bring back the bean burgers and glamorgan sausages!

MmeArnault · 03/11/2022 20:50

Chorizo
You know it's donkey meat right?

Switching things that were nicely vegetarian to vegan. I know they probably think it kills two birds with one stone on a menu but it’s bloody annoying. I still want cheese!!

100% this, I am so sick of everything being converted to vegan. Drives me mad and I’m not strictly a vegetarian

RashOfBees · 03/11/2022 20:52

So many things I hate that have been mentioned here, most notably shit, loads-of-branded-confectionery-mashed-together cakes/waffles/doughnuts.

A more niche one - mint. Absolutely hate the stuff, but was relatively easy to avoid in food until recently. It seems to be a popular ingredient right now, though. At an Indian restaurant recently most starters featured mint. At another particularly trendy one I ordered poppadoms only to find that they’d already drizzled the mint raita all over them rather than letting you choose your dips. Inedible for me. It’s also made an appearance in tap water in a couple of places.

Pebblebeach15 · 03/11/2022 20:52

macha
miso
brioche - why put a burger in a sweet bun that just disintegrates ?
truffle mash / truffle cauliflower cheese - I hate truffle !

Bluevelvetsofa · 03/11/2022 20:54

I like a brioche burger. The burger must be homemade though
I like goats cheese.
I love tapas
I like cinnamon

Hate salted caramel, beetroot, banana, Oreo,

Monoprix · 03/11/2022 20:54

Those spiral vegetables that masquerade as pasta. You are NOT pasta! Stop acting like you are. Into my salad bowl you go!

RosieLemonadeAndSugar · 03/11/2022 20:55

TRUFFLE everything

BeastOfBODMAS · 03/11/2022 21:04

Pub/restaurant menus that give the price as 14,5 rather than £14.50. It’s still fucking expensive, you’re not tricking me into thinking I’m not spending real money omitting the £ sign

HauntersGonnaHaunt · 03/11/2022 21:04

Oreos are rank and Hershey's can get in the trashcan bin. They're in every supermarket now Envy

Shouldawouldacoulda30 · 03/11/2022 21:04

Sourdough is dry and hurts my teeth

I agree, I can just about managed a piece sliced as toast with the crusts off liberally buttered but anything else is way too dry and chewy. End up with dry lips too.

I came on to say this exact thing. I am not a big meat fan but I love cheese n dairy. So sick of the trend for vegan cheese and mayo. I want the real thing dammit

AbsoluteYawns · 03/11/2022 21:09

Grazing buffet table...unhygienic and look disgusting by the time more than one person has had a go.
Using serving plates is the correct thing to do!

Newpuppymummy · 03/11/2022 21:09

Veggie options being too meat like. I want a veggie burger made of veggies or beans. Not the textured protein stuff

BeastOfBODMAS · 03/11/2022 21:10

Also menus where every ingredient has a descriptor
Heritage breed beef burger with free range egg, locally sourced streaky bacon, served with hand torn lettuce and steel-sliced heirloom tomato on a soft baked brioche bun with triple cocked chips and a zingy dressed slaw of crisp apples, shredded cabbage and individually selected carrots

Couldn't agree with you more! Absolutely EVERYWHERE including good Burger joints in the US. (I think the reason for this is that Brioche lasts a lot longer as it's full of butter and sugar.) Absolutely vile and has ruined one of my favourite treats.
