Who was that woman with Rishi Sunak just now at the palace?!

Is anyone watching the live news of Sunak going to meet the King? I just wondered who that woman was who was travelling with him and shook the hand of the man at the palace?! It wasn't his wife! The woman who got out the car looked like she was off on her commute or something! Carrying loads of random bags and wearing a puffa jacket! Grin

Honestly, it blows my mind that you think my points are so out there as to not be believable Confused

It’s not a ‘dreadful way to think’ to expect folk to wear appropriate clothes or behave in an appropriate way in certain situations as society expects. It’s just how it goes.

Clearly not to this woman, who was there to presumably fulfil a role and her clothing didn’t prevent her from doing so. Therefore it wasn’t inappropriate just because some people think you need to look a certain way to be worthy of meeting the King. How depressing.

"gleeful punctuation" is that a micro-aggression in "new money" ?

Oft - interesting use of the term micro aggressions

Blueeyedgirl21 · 25/10/2022 14:31

Don’t think it’s Eleanor shawcross she’s usually fairly low key smart and is married to a Lord who is 🤑

Rollingdownland · 25/10/2022 14:25

No @Squerls it just made me laugh to think of Carrie having 'great fashion moments'.

But you carry on - that smug glow of superiority must feel nice and warming.

Yeah, I’m the one on this thread acting superior. 🤔

Don’t be depressed, @Squerls . Look at what a lovely afternoon you’ve had amusing yourself on this thread. Cheer up, chum.

PriamFarrl · 25/10/2022 14:33

Did I watch something different to everyone else because I heard the BBC say she was his Private secretary as she got out of the car?

xalo · 25/10/2022 14:33

I thought that Sunak's speech hit the right note.( Sorry to derail the thread with trivia...)
He was much better when not reading from an autocue.

I'm having a laugh at this. You sound very het up about it. Lighten up! Even Mother Theresa cracked the odd smile!

Who said anything about being worthy? Oh for goodness sake. Many posters were surprised at this woman's apparel given the situation of new PM kissing hands with the King - yes. And as we were led to believe it was the new PM's wife (a billionaire fashion designer) this made the clothing look even more surprising. Not sure what's so hard to understand about that!

Yeh @Squerls lighten up and come join in publicly bashing a woman for the way she’s dressed

What channel were you on? On BBC News channel Hugh Edwards said she was "Mrs Sunak" and repeated it a few times before later clarifying.

Het up. No. Just think it’s depressing that women are still picked apart like this. And on a site where it’s going to be mainly women posting too.

You’re just annoyed that you were called out for encouraging more negativity towards another woman, because it’s a shitty thing to do.

I literally could not be less annoyed Squerly. I just laughed at Carrie being a fashion icon. I am sorry that upset you.

I noticed you've been posting on this thread for a few hours now and one of your earlier posts cast aspersions on Mrs Sunak. 'no doubt there's more digging they could do on her' or along those lines.

If we're going to accuse each other of being unsisterly, I'd suggest that was pretty poor?

I am logging off now as I can't be arsed to argue with angry internet randoms, but you keep polishing your halo.

I was watching BBC news.

I googled scruffy woman rishi palace and only this thread comes up no-one else is covering it, strangely enough. Though the Mail will probably have it shortly and reference back to here. To save the intern time here's the first draft.

SHOCK! Mum's outrage at SCRUFFY female Rishi aide at Palace

bornonvalentines · 25/10/2022 14:44

The woman is still Elizabeth Peralman. Source: I'm a senior civil servant.

Luckycatt · 25/10/2022 14:45

BBC seem often wrong at the moment. At the queen's funeral they announced the Queen of Denmark as the queen of the Netherlands and insulted all the viewers in Denmark.

NewsJunki · 25/10/2022 14:45

@Squerls no one has called anyone a "nasty bitch" on this thread except one person - you. Your double standards are mind boggling. Coming on a normal chat to jump on posters in the most vile way for saying that a woman wearing puffa coat and bags to visit the palace looks scruffy, labelling us all as misogynists and yet you feel entitled to say we/I am a "nasty bitch".

Poor woman. It has all happened very fast and up to now Rishi will only have had a small team. One writing the speech for Tory MPs and researching the cabinet reshuffle, one preparing for media broadcasts, she is ensuring that Rishi knows what the King is likely to talk about and ensuring he can respond in a thought out manner.

She probably has not slept for 48 hours. But, as always, she is a woman so will be judged on her appearance.

Blueeyedgirl21 · 25/10/2022 14:47

@bornonvalentines omg I’d love you to do an AMA

I don’t really know what a civil servant even is, I have a lot of questions
