Just that, pulled back from the edge hopefully for now

At least Boris himself is not as deluded as some of his supporters on here...

AlwaysLatte · 23/10/2022 22:08

I almost wanted him to get in, as the outcry might have pushed a GA...

AlwaysLatte · 23/10/2022 22:09

GE, even!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 23/10/2022 22:09

Aw @Viviennemary and only a few weeks ago you were done with the Tories...

Thank goodness. I know this means Sunak will be PM tomorrow, and I'd love love.love to have a general election, but Sunak is the least worst option if an election isn't possible at the moment.

That's what I think - he's the least worst option as opposed to the best.

Laughed when Johnson said he was pulling out because "you can't govern effectively unless you have a united party - he hasn't governed effectively for the last three years. (Though to be fair he hasn't had a united party because he's played one off against another the whole time,)

Oh honestly f**k off with the 'oh you must all love billionaire Sunak then' jibes.

I despise the lot of them. But we have to establish some parameters here about moral, ethical and parliamentary codes. And in the list of three, it's Johnson last, then Mordaunt, then Sunak.

Agree with this.
All three are appalling, self-serving and destructive. But Johnson getting away with his stunts time and time again with his sycophantic followers fawning over him is absolutely nauseating.
hopefully the privileges committee will sort him out for a while.

midgetastic · 23/10/2022 22:09

I dont care if he is richer than the other ones

All of them are richer than average

Only rishi has shown any sign that he understands anything about ordinary people

Boris has the charm but he's a proven liar who thinks he's poor on a PM salary

Unseelie · 23/10/2022 22:10

Thank god for that.

It’s almost as if he didn’t actually have 100 supporters.

But surely Boris wouldn’t lie.

😂

Tories would've split if he'd come back. Would have been painful havoc socially and on the markets till an election.

Yep. It was this I wanted to avoid plus if the committee came back as bad news more instability.

Sharming · 23/10/2022 22:10

I heard Alasdair Campbell say on his podcast that whoever becomes PM next will need to be an exceptionally strong, skiilled leader to be able to pull the party together.

I'm not conviced either RIshi or Mordaunt fit that bill. Johnson certainly didn't.

First time he’s ever pulled out.

How has Rishi shown that he understands anything about ordinary people?

I agree, but I think Sunak has been held back for a long time by having to humour Johnson and display constant loyalty as BJ demanded. I actually think Sunak-Hunt could be an excellent team.

Topseyt123 · 23/10/2022 22:12

I'll be thankful for small mercies here.

Rishi would be the best of a bad bunch in my view, but it's still too early to call it. Mordaunt remains in the mix.

Bahahahahaha!!!!

CoffeeHousePot · 23/10/2022 22:12

I think this is calculated on his part. In the same way he did with May.

High chance Tories will lose the next election (whoever is pm) - or at least be in hung parliament territory. I reckon he thinks let Sunak lose next election. When Sunak resigns he will stand (he probably will need to move to a safer seat) and believes he could get back in.

EatenDorky · 23/10/2022 22:13

I’m actually a bit disappointed! I kind of hoped Bobo would get back in just for the sheer beyond-satire-fuckwittery of it all (and any chance of an early GE).

Windtunnel · 23/10/2022 22:13

@Wineat5isfine at the end of the day they're all tories...
Different shades of shite...

Itslookinggood · 23/10/2022 22:14

Actually hope it doesn’t go to party members and that Sunak is the only one above 100.

fear the racial bias of the mainly elderly white men who comprise Tory party members.

The increased spending cuts are down to Truss and the Tories, no one was talking about large cuts pre mini budget.

Tories caused this all on their own & it would be no different if Bojo was in or Pepper Pig.

Are you taking the piss?

What did you think would happen when the country printed huge amounts of money to allow the middle class to hide during Covid?

It would have brought amusement just for SM imploding but the downside is real extra costs when markets say neh ner
