I hope so. Who else is enjoying the Tory shitshow?

There’s an earlier longer thread on this running concurrently. I’ll move there :)

"Crazy to think that even if she goes now she will be paid £112,000 per year for life, just for having been PM"
Jesus. I was appalled to see the payoffs for ministers, some of whom have only been in the job for 5 minutes. They apparently get 3 months "severance". Johnson's round of resignations cost the thick end of £440,000. But this truly takes the biscuit. How on earth can this be justified? Pigs at the trough, the lot of them.

How soon could an election take place if they call one this week?

3 weeks, isn't it?

@LadyWithLapdog, can you link the other thread? I'm struggling to find it in active threads.

Parliament has to dissolve 25 working days before a General Election, effectively five weeks, so even if the government completely collapses this week we're not seeing a GE until the last week of November or first week of December.

LadyWithLapdog · 19/10/2022 21:18

Oh God, not another pre-Xmas election. I remember the last one. I spent Xmas work jollities with a bunch of Tory wankers. I’d hope for a better outcome this time.

Statistically it's likely she will go now that she has uttered that immortal phrase

'I'm a fighter not a quitter'.

So glad to see the back of Braverman, odious politics.

I think she’s setting herself up to run for MP unfortunately.

For goodness sake… I meant PM! Lol

Dick and Dom have called
for a general election on Twitter. It’s serious folks

LadyWithLapdog · 19/10/2022 21:28

Re Braverman. Surely, not. She can’t be that deluded. But then she did try already for PM.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy calling Steve Baker a cunt has amused me though. Apparently not broadcast live but it's all over Twitter.

I heard the clip on Twitter 😂

Nat6999 · 19/10/2022 21:34

It's like a cross between a comedy of errors & groundhog day, I can see her being dragged kicking & screaming out of No10.

Arsewangry · 19/10/2022 21:37

Nahhh she'll stick like shit to a shovel.

zen1 · 19/10/2022 21:42

Anyone got a link to the Krishnan Guru-Murthy clip?

If anyone fancies sending this to their MP please feel free:

Dear X,

I am writing today to let you know how appalled I am at the alleged bullying, manhandling and awful conduct of Conservative MP's at the vote this evening in regards to fracking.

I feel very strongly that this should not be the behaviour of anyone elected to public office.

I do hope that you are also aghast at the behaviour and how it was handled.

I would like to know your view on the matter, and how you will represent my view on this matter.

This is completely unacceptable and must not be allowed to continue.

It is making a farce of politics.

Yours Sincerely,

Y

Fucking hell! They really are staggering from disaster to disaster now. I don’t think there’s much way of coming back from this.
Just a couple of days I would have said there wouldn’t be an early election but this feels really unprecedented. I can’t remember ever seeing an MP talk about their own party front benches the way Charles Walker did tonight. That feels like a real moment of no return.

My MP is a Whip...he was probably involved!
