I hope so. Who else is enjoying the Tory shitshow?

When you wonder who is going to be Prime Minster next week then you know the government is in chaos.

Not Liz Truss. Just resigned.

LadyWithLapdog · 20/10/2022 13:43

How many work hours wasted over the past few days by people following this circus? Send off the clowns!

She's not a quitter apparently 😂

LadyWithLapdog · 20/10/2022 13:52

imagine that poor sod who wrote a book about her. I bet his Xmas is ruined before he’s sold his first hardback.

Re Starmer as DPP:

I'm not talking about the fraction that made it to court, I'm talking about the vast majority of rapes - which as we know is again only a fraction of occurrences as many women prefer not to trouble the system - which were thrown out by CPS as being unsuitable to prosecute.

FactCheck verdict
Dominic Raab said that the conviction rate for rape and sexual offences fell between 2008 and 2013, when Keir Starmer was director of public prosecutions in England and Wales.

This is consistent with figures from the Ministry of Justice. But separate data from the Crown Prosecution Service shows the opposite trend, with conviction rates rising over Mr Starmer’s tenure.

The mismatch is the result of different measuring techniques in the two organisations.

We should also bear in mind that conviction rates only tell us about the cases that make it to court, which are a tiny fraction of all rapes reported to the police.

antelopevalley · 20/10/2022 14:18

@WickedStepmomNOT It is the prosecutor's office job to prosecute. They do not investigate rapes so they can come to court.

Anyone who uses that sort of language is not amusing in my book.

Hold up, Queen Victoria just arrived.

Get a grip; it's just some swearing.

DeborahVance · 20/10/2022 14:34

Hints that they might go to the Tory party membership again. They have got to be fucking joking

antelopevalley · 20/10/2022 14:35

I saw a hint there might only be one candidate.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/10/2022 14:53

According to the Times Boris is expected to stand in the leadership contest. How that man has the bloody nerve to think he could be PM again beggars belief!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 20/10/2022 15:48

Can you link to the Times?

Bojo🤡oh no

thuytien · 20/10/2022 15:59

The Times only said that it was told that BoJo is expected to stand in the contest and believes it is a matter of "national interest".
He is taking some soundings from friends but is said to believe he can turn the Conservative Party around.
Dear me!

NightNite · 20/10/2022 16:01

God bless you Boris, selfless as ever, putting the "national interest" first.
Churchillian to the core.

CaveMum · 20/10/2022 16:39

He’s in the Dominican Republic isn’t he? Do we think Sir Graham can be convinced to put a deadline of, say, midday tomorrow for people to declare themselves for the race but state that it has to be done in person at the HoP. Then maybe dispatch an elite squad to temporarily shutdown the airports so that he can’t get out?

#wishfulthinking

NoWordForFluffy · 20/10/2022 17:49

Apparently some MPs have said they'll defect if he stands. Or resign completely to trigger by-elections.

I wonder if he can muster 100 backers?

I'm going to enjoy it if Boris comes back just because of how many barking mad lefties it will trigger. Hopefully he makes Lord Frost foreign minister

I agree, the police do the investigating and make recommendations to CPS. After that, CPS decide which cases go to trial. And the record is woeful, just read some chief constables statements carefully and you'll see the disappointment of having case turned down even when the police want it prosecuted.

Anyway, whoever takes over at Number 10 has one helluva mess - and its us who will suffer!

Arsewangry · 19/10/2022 21:37

Nahhh she'll stick like shit to a shovel.

Just choked on my own post!!

I would say thank fuck she's gone, but the whole thing is so far beyond being a shambles that I honestly dread to think who will be PM next.

I have read that. You are not talking about under Starmer.

Yeah, l hope he ‘triggers’ loads of ‘barking mad lefties’

Hooefully he’ll ‘trigger’ so many to move from right to ‘barking left’ Labour will have an even bigger landslide.

Lefties would be absolutely delighted if he returns, it makes it all the more certain that Labour will win the next election. It also makes it all the more likely that that election will happen soon as it is highly likely to be precipitated by Tories defecting and/or by whichever disaster Johnson causes next.

As a barking mad leftie, I'd be delighted if Boris gets back in.

LadyWithLapdog · 22/10/2022 08:55

As a barking mad leftie I’m both horrified and resigned. At least if he does get in, the mad people who put him in and want him there will scratch that particular scabby scaby itch, and the cancer he is and represents can be removed completely at the next GE.
