I hope so. Who else is enjoying the Tory shitshow?

She needs to go. Just sacking KK is not enough. She’s failed her probation. Time to go. I don’t know who they can replace her with. Larry the cat would have more dignity, decency and grasp of economics.

Larry has been asked and said no.

I'd enjoy it more if it wasn't going to end up with me paying more as a consequence.

Me too. And if I still had a shred of hope I could afford to buy a house one day. As it stands, it feels pretty shit.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 19/10/2022 20:41

Both entertaining and worrying.

These dicks are running the country.

Can I correct this please

”These dicks are supposed to be running the country.”

What they’re actually doing is squabbling like toddlers. The country hasn’t had anyone running it since 2019 and it wasn’t great then.

MrsSkylerWhite · 19/10/2022 23:34

Sorry, not enjoying it at all. The longer this goes on, the more stress is piled on millions of people. The only solution is an election but I fear that won’t happen and we’ll all be dragged further and further down for the next two years.

Lonelycrab · 19/10/2022 23:35

It’s looking pretty likely.

Can’t see how she can style this out now. It’s collapsing.

ManAboutTown · 19/10/2022 23:37

@TheSausageKingofChicago

a) they don't have a fucking clue what to do. The economic knowledge in the Parliamentary Labour Party is close to zero even including Reeves who at least worked for the BBC

b) and, more importantly, they don't have to do or say anything - just sit and watch the Tories play musical c*nts.

If I was them I woluldn't be pushing the issue too hard - whichever party is holding the parcel the first time the lights go out is in for a tough time

ManAboutTown · 19/10/2022 23:37

BBC -I meant BoE

FourForYouGlenCocoYouGoGlenCoco · 19/10/2022 23:38

Also, just heard today that it’s likely we’ll have blackouts. I’ve seen it reported more and more as a possibility, rather than just as a worst case scenario. What is this country coming to?

Nannyamc · 19/10/2022 23:38

I do not live in the Uk but i am fanicated by your politics . Its a pure disaster.
Brexit was the worst decision ever ,Economy is rapidly deciney..politics is disaster increasing by the day. Other economics are suffering but not to this level .

GCAcademic · 19/10/2022 23:39

Thought I was watching a spoof. Crazy!

RIP spoofs and parodies, you are no longer needed or possible.

ManAboutTown · 19/10/2022 23:42

@Nannyamc - watching the anti-democratic authoritarian shitshow that is the EU I would say the bigger problem is that the EU and UK politicians didn't engage with the reality of Brexit and in the former case were spiteful and in the later tried to avoid it.

The EU at last seems to have realised the folly - Morel gave a blistering speech to the EU ambassadors conference earlier in the week decrying the fact that Europe had outsourced its security to the US and its prosperity to Russia (energy ) and China (manufacturing)

Hopefully they are starting to get it

OhSunnyMorning · 19/10/2022 23:43

The problem is it does not matter who is in charge. There is no money left and everybody expects the government to bail them out. We need a strong leader to make difficult decisions and stick with them.

OddBoots · 19/10/2022 20:52

Crazy to think that even if she goes now she will be paid £112,000 per year for life, just for having been PM.

That's not going to be sustainable to afford if they keep running through prime ministers at this rate between now and the end of the end of the current fixed term parliament. Maybe they should change the rules so that only the most recent max 3 never-stood-as-leader-during-an-election can have the pension, abd if you were 4 or more PMs ago you have to live on your own devices.

Warmhandscoldheart · 19/10/2022 23:49

Charles Walker's speech was excellent, my MP is one of the talentless sychopants feathering his own nest on a daily basis

It's time for your meds, dear

ManAboutTown · 19/10/2022 23:55

@Warmhandscoldheart - my local MP is Labour - a party I've always varied from apathy to contempt for - and very low profile. She has a disability and left a minor Shadow post to focus her political career on assisting people with same disability.

I assume we disagree on many things but I like her approach and think there should be a space for people in politics with that mindset from whatever party.

I might surprise myself and vote for her in the next GE

DowningStreetParty · 19/10/2022 23:58

Thanks Booklover, I had already contacted my MP about this because I was so disgusted at the behaviour witnessed in the voting lobby by bullying Tory Cabinet members today. Absolutely disgusting anti-democratic behaviour. Your letter is great and I hope lots of MNers will use it. Standards in public life absolutely matter and this Tory party just seem to sink lower and lower each day.

ManAboutTown · 20/10/2022 00:01

@GreenLunchBox - this sort of patronising nonsense usually means that the commenter has very little or no understanding of the issues involved.

Unfortiunately some of the work I have done over the last 25 years - particularly on the introduction of the Euro (a disaster waiting to happen) means I have seen quite a bit of the way the EU works and how it treats its member citizens like shit

NightNite · 20/10/2022 00:21

Thank goodness David Cameron called that referendum in 2016 otherwise the Tory party would have torn itself apart.

itispersonal · 19/10/2022 20:53

Not a Tory fan but I find this awful and embarrassing to our country! I'm aboard at the moment and don't want to have to admit I'm English!

Tories have got to call an general election if they get rid of Truss, they voted her in not us and it's not worked! (Though I do think there is something bigger going off)

Time for a GE. Though who the F* do you vote for then!

Starmer obviously?

NameChangeForARaisin · 20/10/2022 00:25

bigbeautifulmonster · 20/10/2022 00:01

Whaaaat???? 😱🤦‍♀️

Yep, she is expected to earn approximately £8million over her lifespan, just for being PM for the last 6 weeks.
Maybe that's the Tory plan, they can all be PM for a few weeks and be set for life.

ManAboutTown · 20/10/2022 00:26

@NightNite - he shat himself after UKIP got a very large portion of the vote in the 2014 Euro elections. He promised the referendum to try and win the 2015 GE and it succeeded.

I suspect if he hadn't the political landscape after 2015 would have been very different - probably Farage leader of a small parliamentary party with Cameron,, Clegg and Miliband trying to cobble together a coalition

NameChangeForARaisin · 20/10/2022 00:23

I can't stand Starmer - rape prosecutions dropped dramatically while he was DPP.
