I hope so. Who else is enjoying the Tory shitshow?

I'm with this

I can't stand Starmer - rape prosecutions dropped dramatically while he was DPP.

Even the Mail in an article critical of Starmer said rape prosecutions rose under him.

I vote we just started a commune . Somewhere lovely and remote . Grow our own veg . No killing animals . I'm fine with eggs and milk if we love our hens and cows though . We just live in yurts. Farm our own patches of garden . Take our special needs kids and our by kids and teach them the stuff that matters. Love our dogs and livestock. Teach ourselves . Teach our kids from playing and how to be social , how to add up , how to write a coherent sentence- what else matters? Love our friends and families and animals and live a life ge that's just bloody great . Anyone with me ?

Yes. I am actually in the process of trying to achieve this!

Simply not true. I worked with a charity supporting rape victims at a time and we used to have regular discussions about prosecutions with whoever was DPP. Starmer was streets ahead of any other DPP in terms of his approach to the job, understanding of where victims were coming from, and determination to increase the prosecution rate.

CatAndHisKit · 20/10/2022 01:13

Hmmm stillvicar sounds nice but realistically your kids will get bored very quickly if you don't! It's basically just growing food, eating and sleeping then?
I'm all for being nice to animals though, but that's all I'd join with - but horses for courses as always.

I hate to read these smears against Starmer. His abilities as DPP were very highly regarded in the legal profession.

You can't just 'up' rape prosecutions either. Compare another DPP Alison Saunders who tried this and had disclosure issues blow up in her face

I just thought I’d have a look at the current poll projections. This is totally crazy. I can only assume that the Tory party will do anything they can to delay an election as long as possible whilst trying to get Truss out and install a unity candidate to avoid a formal leadership contest. They aren’t going to want to fight a general election any time soon. Even if they’ve given up hope of winning the next election they need to delay because it would be an unprecedented electoral disaster for them if they have to fight an election any time soon.

If parliament ever really looked like the projection below it would be a political crisis. The second largest party in parliament would be one that only represents Scottish constituencies and there would be a huge constitutional question mark over who could lay claim to the role of leader of the opposition. They have to get a grip on this and quick or their party may totally implode.

Based on that polling the official opposition in westminster would be the Scottish national party who abstain on non scottish issues. You couldnt make it up.

What we need to do is start a revolution, form our own mnet political party and throw the current cabinet muppets out. Then get on with the business of restoring law, order and common sense to the country.

Not enjoying it at all. People's dreams smashed beyond recognition, largely due to the actions of two obscenely rich individuals who may well be suffering humiliation and strain on an emotional level, but who ultimately will retire on huge parliamentary pensions. Truss is worth £8 million, I believe. Even if we have a Labour administration by Christmas, we still have to pay for Kwarteng's incompetence and the multi-billion black hole he created.

The whole cabinet should be slammed in a debtors' prison, in a just world.

QueenOfThorns · 20/10/2022 06:44

OhSunnyMorning · 19/10/2022 23:43

The problem is it does not matter who is in charge. There is no money left and everybody expects the government to bail them out. We need a strong leader to make difficult decisions and stick with them.

Oh yes, that’s exactly what we need Confused

How about this one?

So will she be gone by tomorrow? (Truss)
fortheloveofflowers · 20/10/2022 07:19

I saw this coming a mile off. Tory wankers chuck a female in and then encourage her to fuck up so some arsehole male can swoop in and save the day, so to speak!

The misogyny in that party is staggering. PM’s are puppets and are led by the rest of the party.

RoachTheHorse · 20/10/2022 07:21

I am not sure how they can avoid a GE at this point. We don't seem to have anyone actually leading the country. It's not sustainable and the conservatives have no one the party can get behind with consensus. They are so fractured that they cannot repair while in power.

ManAboutTown · 20/10/2022 07:23

@fortheloveofflowers - the stupidity of that comment made me laugh out loud.

Third female Tory PM, MPs from ethnic minorities occupying the three major cabinet posts.

Every Labour leader has been white and male. There have been no senior ministers from ethnic minorities.

Take a look at a picture of Blair's first cabinet if you don't believe me

That is infantilising nonsense. Liz Truss is a highly educated woman who put herself forward for the leadership and who was advised by plenty in her own party that her economic plans were political suicidal. She then scapegoated her chancellor for a policy she designed. Her fuck ups are her own.

You made that up to defend the mess the UK is in, rape prosecutions have plummeted since Starmers time.

A woman reporting a rape today will wait almost 3 years before any trial and the chances of a trial are less than 1%.... think about that... 100 women report being raped but only ONE case will go to court :(

Its even taking 5 months before any suspect is even charged.

Some women are even resorting to civil prosecutions to get justice.

These are figures from the CPS and from City.ac.

BirmaBrite · 20/10/2022 07:46

I can’t believe you lot are so passive, though. It’s extraordinary.

Somebody played ironic songs outside number 10 last night, does that count ?

lannistunut · 20/10/2022 07:51

I can't cope with months more of waking up wondering what they've fucked up now.

Please, for the love of God, can we have a general election and get a fresh start?

I know this is the current Tory modus operandi (lie, lie, lie until it becomes accepted as fact) but that will never make it true.

You do know the opposite actually happened, I'm sure.

LadyWithLapdog · 20/10/2022 08:02

@jennakong I’m sorry I sounded glib. It was a brief moment of glee in the middle of this shitfest. I agree with you, these wankers should have to pay for the damage they’ve done. Instead, they’ll be smirking their way round the highly-pain after-dinner speakers circuit.
