Don’t be fooled by the grey exterior, inside is a riot of colour and the garden is amazing.

It is a beautiful house and the layout works for my family. I'd turn the downstairs 4th bedroom into a proper study. I'd probably paint the house in antique gold and green which would suit its age. Then all the loud wallpapers automatically tone down; I don't have a spare £700k atm. 😁

Some of it looks a bit ... silly (is the bathpanel wallpapered to match the walls? How can that be practical...?). Some of it looks a bit cheap as if “done” by buying shed loads of plastic stuff from B&M - such as the pink sheepskin rug- (I buy stuff from B&M too, but not quite as much of it), and some is incredibly “emperors new clothes” designer type stuff. It looks like it took ages to decorate, but not because they’re using things they’ve had and loved for years.

But I love that it’s interesting and fun, much friendlier than most properties you see.

It's really pretty - not to live in but just to visit. I think I'd spend my time saying "ooo".

SarahSissions · 15/10/2022 10:40

The decor matches the possessions a bit too much for me. If you were to buy it with ‘normal stuff’ I think then it would look odd. You’d need to negotiate for quite a few of the accessories to be incorporated to continue to make it work

DilemmaDelilah · 15/10/2022 10:50

I love colour but hate mess. The house isn't messy but the decor is! Too many different patterns, the kitchen isn't practical, it sets my teeth on edge.

Yes, I’m not sure how it would work with standard IKEA/John Lewis style furniture that most people own.
i wouldn’t buy it - I love a bit of individualism, but this would need a lot of work before most people could live in it and it’s TOO individual. And for 700k I wouldn’t expect to redecorate. I think it’ll be a hard sell at that price.

As someone who lives in a low natural light home with a garden shadowed by trees (similar to this one) it will be gloomy in winter. The wood panelling paper is a step too far for me, and I like cozy and busy but this is too curated and overdone for me. Parts are lovely - but it reminds me of when I get dressed and all the items go with one of the others but don't work all together.

Makes a change to see something that hasn't been greige-d. It's fabulous. Tricky to make it your own though with so much of someone else's personality stamped on absolutely everything, but that's a rather lovely problem to have.

BirmaBrite · 15/10/2022 11:46

Feels like a very sociable space, not exactly my taste, but I do like some of the elements of it.

Notjustabrunette · 15/10/2022 11:46

I equally would love to live there and hate to live there in equal measures. It is fabulous though.

cypresstree · 15/10/2022 15:08

I absolutely love colour and patterns and use it, but this house is utterly hideous, in very bad taste.

DamnUserName21 · 15/10/2022 17:44

Love the garden!

NCAutumn · 18/10/2022 09:33

"I'm sure there are plenty of grey boxes still available. With plastic green grass gardens"

@Potat0soup interested to know what made you think I like grey and fake grass? Confused

If I could put photos of my house in without it being outing I would. Not a grey wall in sight, it's my least favourite colour. And my garden is amazing, sea views, no fake grass or skanky ponds 🤢

Deathraystare · 18/10/2022 10:10

Wow, good old Hastings!

I love it!

If I had my own house it would be a riot of colour. I love patterned wall paper!

Chikapu · 18/10/2022 10:18

It looks like a charity shop vomited all over it, there's nowhere for the eyes to rest so it's just noise and clutter.
