Posting for traffic - what do I do? Husband not come home

DH and DC not come home. He was picking them up from after school club. Should have been back an hour ago. His phone is going straight to voicemail. I’m an anxious person anyway, but when would you panic?

Haggisfish3 · 14/10/2022 17:30

I wouldn’t panic but I would contact any other parents to see if they saw him at pick up. I’d then call the local police and ask if any accidents been reported locally.

BigFatLiar · 14/10/2022 17:31

It's a bit early. Has he been late before, could simply be traffic, could he have taken them for a Macdonalds?

Do the children have phones? If he's in the car he won't be zblr to answer.

lifeturnsonadime · 14/10/2022 17:32

No need to panic. Hold ups happen. Perhaps phone the after school club and check local traffic news.

Is there any reason they might have gone somewhere else tonight?

IncompleteSenten · 14/10/2022 17:34

Have they ever been late like this before because he's gone to the shop on the way home or something?

I wouldn't be panicking just yet. I'd assume he's taken them for snacks or perhaps they've gone to the shop or the park or something on the way home.

Or maybe the car broke down, his phone has no charge and they've had to walk to try to find a phone/someone to help?

I assume the children are very young and don't have their own phones?

phlaps · 14/10/2022 17:36

Hmm... on a Friday?

I'd be phoning the local first. He's probably buying their silence with a bottle of Fanta and some crisps.

(Seriously hope they are fine OP)

Somethingsnappy · 14/10/2022 17:39

Gone shopping, gone to the park? An hour is within the realms of reasonable for these things.

How nearby is the school?

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 14/10/2022 17:40

Do you have any of those apps where you can 'Find My Phone' on somebody else's device, or air-tags, or whatever they are called? To see where he is?

BobLobIaw · 14/10/2022 17:40

Is check local Twitter quickly first, re traffic or accidents.
Hope they turn up soon.

FistFullOfRegrets · 14/10/2022 17:40

It would depend (for me) on his personality.

if he's the type to just come home, yes, an hour late if school is close by I'd be getting worried. If he's likely to have indulged them in some way (park/McD's/visit granny) then I'd wait, but what's he like re contacting you?

id probably wait 2 hours before calling the police.hospitals etc, but I'd call a friend etc

hope they're all home soon xx

BobLobIaw · 14/10/2022 17:40

I'd *

Smithstreet · 14/10/2022 17:44

If it was my DH i would not worry yet. He would have taken them for a snack or stopped at a shop for a random job he had to do. But depends on your DH. I hope he is home soon OP.

ColdduckOddfish · 14/10/2022 17:47

No he’s the type to always be on time. Always. I’m pregnant with an unplanned DC and he has taken the news hard which is adding to my worries. DC are too young for phones and we don’t have any of the tracking apps.

OP posts:
Falmerjeans · 14/10/2022 17:48

Are you sure they were collected from kids club?

ColdduckOddfish · 14/10/2022 17:49

Yes they’ve been collected at their normal time. It’s an 8 minute drive home.

OP posts:
DeliberatelyObtuse · 14/10/2022 17:49

Check google maps and see if there are any traffic jams that might have held them up

lifeturnsonadime · 14/10/2022 17:49

Has he got family near by? Is he likely to have gone there to vent? Could you check with them if so?

ColdduckOddfish · 14/10/2022 17:50

His mum lives close by but we haven’t spoken to her in years.

fallinover · 14/10/2022 17:50

Maybe they have a burst tyre or a stopped at a supermarket for something.
It is unlikely to be anything super serious if you haven't been contacted.

Bookaholic73 · 14/10/2022 17:51

Maybe he has just taken them out for a snack, run around at the park, or is stuck in traffic but can’t answer the phone.

I wouldn’t be worrying yet.

Remainiac · 14/10/2022 17:51

How many DC and how old are they?

MumofSpud · 14/10/2022 17:51

Do you know any other parents who could confirm they were picked up?

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesn · 14/10/2022 17:51

Hope it's nothing untoward

Choccolocko · 14/10/2022 17:53

I imagine they’ve just gone for a treat, try not to worry. At 7, I would start to worry

ButtOutBobsMum · 14/10/2022 17:54

Try not to worry OP. It's likely to be something as simple as a flat tyre.

cultkid · 14/10/2022 17:55

Call the after school club and check
Ring the police
