DH and DC not come home. He was picking them up from after school club. Should have been back an hour ago. His phone is going straight to voicemail. I’m an anxious person anyway, but when would you panic?

He’s home. He’d popped to the supermarket and the car had broken down. Didn’t have his phone with him

Hope you hear from him soon. Thinking of you.

Mum233 · 14/10/2022 19:33

Hope they are back and you can relax

GrazingSheep · 14/10/2022 19:33

Phew!!

PurpleWisteria · 14/10/2022 19:33

Thank goodness

Mojo777 · 14/10/2022 19:33

oops, just saw your message. Thank goodness.

LT2 · 14/10/2022 19:34

Glad to see your update!

Littlemissprosecco · 14/10/2022 19:34

Great news op!
most things have an innocent explanation

Wheelerdeeler · 14/10/2022 19:34

Phew

MysteryBelle · 14/10/2022 19:34

So relieved for you, Op! And the delay was for a very good reason! I know you gave your children and dh big hugs when they got home.

BigFatLiar · 14/10/2022 19:35

Good to hear he's back, a little adventure for the children.

Remind him next time to take his phone. If he left it at home didn't you hear it ring when you called the number.

caringcarer · 14/10/2022 19:35

Thankfully all well then. Very stressful for you though.

Decafflatteplease · 14/10/2022 19:37

Phew! How did he get home with no phone and a broken down car?

Phew! How did he get home with no phone and a broken down car?

He was an 8 minute drive away

KendrickLamaze · 14/10/2022 19:29

@girlmom21 how does it know you're driving if you haven't linked it?

@AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair it automatically connects when you step in as long as car is on and Bluetooth is activated. I connected it once and haven't thought about it since. My music plays from my phone connection too which is more important.

Motion. It's an automatic iPhone setting. You can turn it off I think but I like it.

CarefreeMe · 14/10/2022 19:42

Great update OP.

Phew! How did he get home with no phone and a broken down car?

Maybe he went back in the store and asked if they could help with a call to the breakdown service/a friend? Maybe he walked back with the kids? Maybe a kindly soul let him call a breakdown service/a friend from their phone? Maybe it was something he could fix at the roadside so he was soon on his way again?

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 14/10/2022 19:53

Glad they are both safe but you really need to manage your anxiety.

ColdduckOddfish · 14/10/2022 19:55

Yes DH was apologetic but also slightly perplexed with how upset I was when he got home. Definitely need to work on anxiety!

Good grief @ColdduckOddfish it was an HOUR late. Still a bit annoying he didn't let you know, but an HOUR. Yes you do need to work on your anxiety!

He should have been back at 4.30pm and arrived home closer to 7.30pm, so three hours late.

Glad they're back safe and sound, and no wonder you were worried, it was such a short journey.

KendrickLamaze · 14/10/2022 20:06

@girlmom21 so does it happen in any car? Mine knows as soon as I get in my car and my watch seems to know where I'm going and tells me journey time. Assumed it was because it was connected as doesn't happen as a passenger in other peoples cars.

Cornettoninja · 14/10/2022 20:06

I would have worried too, when you have the expectation of such a short journey it’s natural to become concerned when they don’t arrive and find that escalates the longer you’re waiting.

Hopefully your DH has realised the value of communicating if his plans have changed.

Cantthinkofanewnameatm · 14/10/2022 20:09

I totally understand how and why you felt anxious after an hour.
Glad all is ok and they’re home safely. 💐
