Places you don't shop anymore and why?

Are there any shops you just don't go to anymore? Obviously due to the cost of living. I shop at Aldi and Asda. Might just go to Aldi now.

Supermarkets in general independent grocers, especially the markets are much cheaper

Supermarkets just trick you into thinking you're getting a bargain

ofwarren · 22/11/2022 02:28

Primark due to their mixed sex changing rooms

Heatherjayne1972 · 22/11/2022 05:56

Curry’s
awful awful company. How they are still in business I cannot imagine

AgentProvocateur · 22/11/2022 06:29

I don’t go to Boots as their self service tills always have issues and there’s never a human around to help.

Furrybutts · 22/11/2022 06:29

Ann Summers due to being pounced on my staff offering help the second you are through the door.
Then following you round the store commenting on every item you stop to look at.
Very invasive and off-putting.

Woolworth's. It's closed.

You got there before me! 😂

Woolworth's. It's closed.

It's been years and I still miss Woolies. I don't miss the pigeons in the pick and mix though!

JD Sports since my 8 yr old daughter’s new trainers peeled at the toe after one wear and they refused to refund without sending away for checking since they assumed it was due to misuse. She was 8 and had worn them to play in the garden. She’s 30 now but I never shopped there again.

French Connection since their FCUK campaign. I thought it was crude, unnecessary and refuse to give them my money.

Waitrose, when they stopped the free coffee

ByTheGrace · 22/11/2022 06:52

Sports Direct, they refused a refund on week old trainers that had started falling apart. Tried to accuse me of not looking after them. Went online afterwards and found the accusations of misuse were a common tactic. I really couldn't afford to lose the money either. I used to get lots there too, never again.

Iwritethissittinginthekitchensink · 22/11/2022 06:53

Decided years ago to never go into WH Smith and Boots - their prices are crazy and their offers are always designed to encourage you to buy more than you need.

Shinyandnew1 · 22/11/2022 06:53

Lush due to their bizarre policy of pissing off their customers by repeatedly pouncing on them the minute they walk in. I used to spend loads in there.

It's back again.

It's back again.

Ah, yes, I'd heard that...will have to pop in next time I pass

Betahydroxybutyrate · 22/11/2022 07:05

I have a considerable list.

I don’t go anymore because they think my sex is a costume that can be taken on and off.

Roselilly36 · 22/11/2022 07:11

Sports direct, I just don’t like their policies or owner

Alice362 · 22/11/2022 07:13

Primark, a saleswoman there pissed me off so much that I never went back:-)))

WarmWinterSun · 22/11/2022 07:14

Lush for offering free binders

whiteroseredrose · 22/11/2022 07:14

Starbucks for supporting Mermaids and Boden because I've been told he's a fox hunter.

HoisttheMainSail · 22/11/2022 07:15

The Body Shop because of their vile trolling of JK Rowling after she wrote about her experiences of domestic abuse.

They can fuck right off.

On a happier note, I noticed the Waitrose coffee is back and I took it as the conclusive sign that Covid is over (I know it’s probably not). It was emotional.😀
You need your own cup though.

Kazzyhoward · 22/11/2022 07:20

Currys and Argos - too many times they've tried to argue consumer laws don't apply to them re faulty goods.

Boots - overpriced and nothing special compared with competitors.

Body Shop - staff pounce on you immediately and grossly overpriced.

Mountain Warehouse - Awful staff and terrible attitude when trying to return faulty goods.

megletthesecond · 22/11/2022 07:23

Tiger. Our one is mostly card only self service checkouts with very few staff to operate the only cash till. I don't have the patience to wait for someone to be free.

Same here for French Connection.

Body Shop for the same reason as PP. Shame as i loved their vitamin C stuff.
