A film called Michael (I think) with John Travolta.
Was cringing for him it was so bad

thestarvingcaterpillar · 30/09/2022 10:46

The Revenant truly awful did not understand the hype or why it won so many Oscars!

Brefugee · 30/09/2022 10:47

(now I've read the thread) agree with There Will Be Blood, and will throw in No Country for Old Men.

Never Let Me Go -I wasn't aware of the novel and hadn't really looked into the
I was drained after watching it and felt like lying in a darkened room for a week.
Not seen the film but the most awful book I've ever read.

not The Most Awful Book I've Ever Read but very much up there (with the Alchemist). Nobody i know will admit it's shite, though, and they all rave about it.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 30/09/2022 10:48

Agree about Cats, which I had the misfortune of sitting through live during its stage run. The otherwise wonderful T S Eliot must have been having a serious off-day!

West Side Story is also dire.

The Craft. Continued stigmatising of paganism (nothing new there), not least those ridiculous 'We are the Weirdos' T-Shirts it spawned.

Pretty much anything by 'Working Title' movies. Top billing of a truly woeful selection of schmaltzy stereotyping and tokenism is the awful, awful Love Actually. 🤮

Underscore21 · 30/09/2022 10:48

O Brother, Where Art thou?

Absolutely painful experience, assault on all the senses.

WithASpider · 30/09/2022 10:50

My Little Eye - Horror film filmed entirely on webcams. 2002/3 so you can imagine the quality!
Insomnia

DH had a cinema pass when we first started dating. Saw so many bloody awful films but these 2 were the worst.

nancydroo · 30/09/2022 10:50

Les Mis

Essexgirlupnorth · 30/09/2022 10:57

Marie Antoinette was 2hrs of my life I won't get back.

There is a made for tv Wiliam and Kate movie on Amazon that is as bad as you would expect.

Team America is the only film I have every walked out of my friends American Boyfriend didn't find it funny

Star05 · 30/09/2022 10:57

Spencer... we actually left the cinema.

BrinaT · 30/09/2022 10:57

SpringIntoChaos · 30/09/2022 08:18

The Human Centipede 😱

100% agreed!

IsabelleSE19 · 30/09/2022 10:58

Evita
Love Actually

Had forgotten about Australia until a pp mentioned it!

Also a film where Scarlett Johansson plays an alien who eats Scottish men?!? Horrendous

Clearlyamatterforrehearsals · 30/09/2022 10:59

Think its called I know who killed me, absolutely awful film with Lindsey Lohan

IsabelleSE19 · 30/09/2022 10:59

Under the Skin!

RaRaRaspoutine · 30/09/2022 11:06

IsabelleSE19 · 30/09/2022 10:59

Under the Skin!

The book is pretty good - then they made the film so weird and arty filled with long silences. The film version of We Need to Talk About Kevin is terrible too in the same way.

beastlyslumber · 30/09/2022 11:06

The Crows Have Eyes! And the sequel: The Crows Have Eyes 2: The Crowening.

beastlyslumber · 30/09/2022 11:07

Seriously, though: Love Actually has got to be up there as one of the worst films of all time.

beastlyslumber · 30/09/2022 11:08

IsabelleSE19 · 30/09/2022 10:59

Under the Skin!

I liked the film. But the book is way better.

RaRaRaspoutine · 30/09/2022 11:14

Obligatory link to Lindy West's evisceration of Love Actually for the (many) haters here - jezebel.com/i-rewatched-love-actually-and-am-here-to-ruin-it-for-al-1485136388

I reread this once a year.

kingtamponthefurred · 30/09/2022 09:22

The Blair Witch Project. Most boring thing I have ever seen.

I'll second that. There's only so much looking up a snotty nose I can cope with. Though for a final year project at film school it was a good effort.

And more recently I watched 'The Girl in the Spiders Web'. I loved the original Swedish versions of the Stig Larsson trilogy but this missed in every single respect and messed with the back story to add insult to injury.

x2boys · 30/09/2022 11:21

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil truly dire I can't remember the plot line, in fact it might not have had a plot line it was so dull.

mam0918 · 30/09/2022 11:21

Sausage party... truely awful, I dont know what I expected but even 12 year olds would be bored by that try hard immature humour.

Skyellaskerry · 30/09/2022 11:24

Green Room
Get Out

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 30/09/2022 11:24

Wolf Creek

Admittedly I'm not a massive fan of horror but that one was just grim.

LottieTx · 30/09/2022 11:26

Downsizing - awful awful film

The Crows Have Eyes! And the sequel: The Crows Have Eyes 2: The Crowening.

I think The Crowening was III. Not sure what #2 was called!
