Les Mis

Hell, yes. And those atrocious Biblical adaptations.

Give me a rollicking good opera or stage play any day, or My Fair Lady or Calam, but I don't think I care for Broadway/West End musicals all that much.

Wolf Creek

Admittedly I'm not a massive fan of horror but that one was just grim.

Hope Joanne Lees or the Ivan Milat survivor didn't see that. The stories were so similar to people's real life tragedies that it was pretty insensitive and gratuitous.

I have a strong stomach for horror and love the genre, but even I couldn't get through Wolfe Creek #2.

Rubber. A film about a possessed tyre.
Yes, really.

m.imdb.com/title/tt1612774/

MrsMoastyToasty · 30/09/2022 11:39

The 1980s film Weekend At Bernies.

Shodan · 30/09/2022 11:39

The Piano (NOT The Pianist). Dull dull dull.

Kill Bill Vol.1. The only film I've walked out of the cinema on. Gratuitous attention-seeking violence, imo.

Les Mis. Turgid.

I think The Crowening was III. Not sure what #2 was called!

Hahaha oh no! Now I need to find out what it was :)

Ilovedthe70s · 30/09/2022 11:48

Apocalypse Now, first date at the cinema and I slept through most of it.
Any of the Twilight films, watched with one of the kids, Kirsten Stewart was dreadful, don’t remember anyone else who was in the cast.
Top Gun (the original) left before the end.

Shodan · 30/09/2022 12:10

See, now- I've slept through nearly all the Star Wars films, both at the cinema and at home. I rate them as Quite Good for napping purposes 😁

The Crows Have Eyes! And the sequel: The Crows Have Eyes 2: The Crowening.

Ka-Kaw.

Thing is that based on really shitty B list films, Birdemic being one of the most iconic.

The book is pretty good - then they made the film so weird and arty filled with long silences. The film version of We Need to Talk About Kevin is terrible too in the same way.

I thought we need to talk about kevin was pretty cool, I never read the book though.

Glitteringapples · 30/09/2022 12:20

Never been kissed with Drew Barrymore … urgh so cringey would rather pour molten glass into my eyes!

Green Room
Get Out

no way, get out was fantastic.

Now babadook and Hereditary where massively overhyped and not that good though.

Babadook had loads of potential as I love films about the phsycologic stress of mothers but it falls into that catagory of never show the moster, I just couldnt take it seriously.

Hereditary was just insensative to some of the real life events it was based on turning them into cheap shock value. I LOVE tony collette but even her fantastic acting couldnt save such a crap story.

Cantthinkofanewnameatm · 30/09/2022 12:24

Mama Mia. Awful, just awful. Julie Walters tried really hard with a crap script and even worse plot ( if you can call it that)

You can watch a truly terrible US film on channel 5, any afternoon of the week. They are even worse than the random ‘free to you’ films that you can watch on Amazon Prime. Terrible acting, terrible stories. I am strangely fond of them. I wonder whether they are what B movies used to be, in cinemas of yore.

I totally agree with you and was just about to write the same thing! 😆

Troy. What a waste of 2 and a half hours, watching Brad Pitt having one unbeatable fighting move which no opponent could ever spot coming. Plus their inexplicable ability to build multiple ships from wood whilst all stranded on an entirely sandy beach.

What?! I love Troy! I find weirdly re-watchable.

Natural Born Killers. Utter shite.

NBK is an utter cult classic and from a film making and creativity standpoint absoutly excelent.

Talking of cult classics though I never got into Rock Horror Picture Show, seen it a few times and live aswell and while I dont 'hate' it I certainly dont get the hype.

AuntieMarys · 30/09/2022 12:26

Mamma Mia
Lala land

Big Momma House 2. Never saw the first can't remember why the hell we went.
The Emoji movie. Its was school hols and raining. Spent something like 50 quid on tickets for us all plus snacks. It must have been longer than 14 mins and had a plot but it sure didn't seem like it.
Moral of the tale, don't pay to see a film you wouldn't watch for free in your own home.

No one has said Open Water yet. Literally nothing happens. Dull.

yeah, I was intreaged to watch it as I love studying films with limitations (micro budgets or 1 room locations or limited to 1 or 2 actors etc...) but it is litrally just watching NOTHING happen... possibly one of the dullest and least eventful films ever.

Shallows is another one, I loved the IDEA but it went jaws the revenge level stupid by the end. And the plot holes where so big the could go from america to china (really they where surfing next to a whale carcass all day and didnt notice? the shark has all the food but is going to actively hunt an insignificat skiny woman that wouldnt even be a snack? plus your cant undo a turnicate to let blood back flow thats litrally what kills you etc...)

JJsdadisatwat · 30/09/2022 12:31

Some shit that was animated but more for adults with some frog/lizard thing about ten years ago.

I can’t remember the name.

My friend really wanted to see it and honestly, I couldn’t believe I’d parted with my money. I was so bored I was worrying that I would die of boredom.

It went on for fucking ever.

I want to say Johnny Depp did the voice?

So bad, I’ve blocked it all out.

TheMildManneredMilitant · 30/09/2022 08:18

Llamageddon. To be fair it was never not going to be bad but was expecting 'terrible in a good way' a la Sharknado. Nope.

I did bond with teenagers over the sheer awfulness though so there was that.

Can I recommend Zombeavers? Eve the closing music is amazing.
