Open House

It's worth watching then watching the hilarious review on YouTube by Elvis the Alien

SlippinKimmy · 30/09/2022 09:52

We had a friend staying and were trying to find a comedy to watch; he insisted we watch this, apparently he loved it as a teenager:

I think it is the worst film I have ever seen. Didn't raise a flicker of a smile, offensively sexist and racist, just absolute trash. Apparently it was Denholm Elliot's final film, poor man, it probably killed him...

maudesvagina · 30/09/2022 09:53

The Idiots Lars von Trier

Phos · 30/09/2022 09:53

Slither

I've watched it twice just to see if it was as terrible as I remember and it was worse.

8misskitty8 · 30/09/2022 09:56

Sahara.
Any of the lord of the rings or hobbit movies. Utter drivel. Fell asleep watching one at the cinema.
Anything with Tom Hanks (except toy story)

SilverLiningPlaybook · 30/09/2022 10:01

Caddy’s Shack. It is associated with a pretty grim time, but really what a load of bilge.

Mochudubh · 30/09/2022 10:01

@PopsicleHustler
The Mel Gibson one with the aliens, was that the one where there was a big build up to seeing the actual aliens (I think there was a lot of rustling in a cornfield) and when they finally appeared it was just people in morph suits? That was shite.

AI - Overlong as it was then they tagged on a batshit ending, it's like someone watched a screening and thought, "you know what this film needs? Aliens",

LadyEloise1 · 30/09/2022 10:03

I had forgotten Lost in Translation.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

emmetgirl · 30/09/2022 10:05

LA LA LAND.
It was shockingly bad. I have no idea what the fuss was about.

RaRaRaspoutine · 30/09/2022 10:06

I can't remember what mine is actually called - I know it felt like about 3 hours long even though it was under 2, it's got multiple storylines including one where it jumps to Spain(?) for a bit and there are subtitles, and I think it's about love? I saw it in the cinema and was sat there like what the fuck is this. It was about 2017ish. Did anyone else see this?

DeclansAFeckingDream · 30/09/2022 10:08

Natural Born Killers. Utter shite.

InsertPunHere · 30/09/2022 10:08

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant

DS put it on for a laugh. It’s one of the Darren Shan horror books for kids, but it had Willem DaFoe, John C Reilly and Salma Hayek in the cast list, so how bad could it be?

So, so bad. I had to leave because I kept laughing at the wrong parts. Absolutely beyond terrible.

sageandrosemary · 30/09/2022 10:14

Showgirls

Showgirls

😱

ThatWriterInTheCorner · 30/09/2022 10:19

Worst film in a good way: Samurai Cop. It is legendarily bad, and lives up to every hope I had for it. Absolute incompetent perfection
Worst film in a bad way: Pixels, which ends with one of the overgrown-kid men being rewarded for his labours with an actual Trophy Wife

dotty636 · 30/09/2022 10:21

The happening

Cheeselog · 30/09/2022 10:22

Either the Host or Vampire’s Kiss

ReeseWitherfork · 30/09/2022 10:16

😱

Double 😱😱 indeed.

How dare you. Not a second of screen time is wasted.

UnfinishedUsernam · 30/09/2022 10:24

The 'How Dare You' was intended for SageandRosemary. 😀

MorrisZapp · 30/09/2022 10:34

Grey Wolf, starring Peirce Brosnan as a native American takes some beating.

IVFNewbie · 30/09/2022 10:36

Carol. Awful.

Limpshade · 30/09/2022 10:36

I also came on to say The Happening, although I do have good memories of the film as I watched it with SIL and we were both howling with laughter by the end. Ditto Aloha which was funny for all the wrong reasons.

Lost in Translation hasn't aged well. I first saw it at the cinema on a first date with a guy who'd already seen it once and was sure I would love it. So far so good. One thing he kept banging on about, though, was how great the opening scene was, and I'd better watch closely as he thought it might be the best opening of any film ever. The opening sequence is a seemingly unending shot of Scarlett Johansson's bottom in close up, wearing only underwear. And so when the film started, he sniggered continually until the camera cut away. So while I liked the film, the guy gave me the ick and there wasn't a second date Envy

Hbh17 · 30/09/2022 10:41

Lord of the Rings - only time I have ever fallen asleep in the cinema.

Brefugee · 30/09/2022 10:41

a toss up for me between Interstellar and Inception.

There are probably more, but those two really stand out as awful

mrstea301 · 30/09/2022 10:43

Power of the Dog was truly dire, I bet the book that it's based on is goo, but I cannot bring myself to spend any more time on it.

Public Enemies was pretty bad, although on paper it should have been great! All star cast, good story to tell - it's the only time I've wanted to walk out of the cinema!
