Anyone fancy a 90s nostalgia thread?

I just thought it might be a little lighthearted fun 😁

I had a completely random theme tune stuck in my head all afternoon and decided to do a bit of Googling as I had a strong feeling it was from a kids show I used to watch and that sent me down a whole rabbit hole of much loved kids shows toys and even ads from my childhood!

A mixed bag of tv shows like Oakie Doke, Noah's island, super ted, animals of farthing wood, art attack, zzzap, the demon headmaster, the queens nose (telly addicted childhood🙋🏽‍♀️ 🤣) toys like polly pockets and my fav ads..the wide mouthed frog and the Milky Way 'red car and the blue car had a race'

What are your treasured 90s memories? Anyone fancy reminiscing?

There was some amazing free plastic tat toys in the 90s. I was in a thrift shop recently that had drawers and drawers full of 90s McDonalds/cereal toys. It made me nostalgic.

Kids tv shows now are so serious and bland! Any one remember that show where you could take your teacher on and do a quiz and if they lost they'd get plunged into gunge?! was on cbbc.
The queens Nose
The worst witch
Ghost hunter
Jeopardy!
That show early 2000's where you'd have 30 seconds to trash the set up house to hunt for things hidden in draws sure it was cbbc?

Those little phone stickers you got in crisps that when you stuck them on the phone, they'd flash when you got a text 😂.

I think the show where they trashed the house was Finders Keepers.

I was at uni. I have a lot of memories tied up in Britpop, esp Blur and Oasis's first albums; Jagged Little Pill; the DJ scene (Jon Pleased Wimmin and the Cream club in Liverpool.)
Also acid jazz – Jamiroquai!
And second-hand skinny cord jeans, vintage slogan T-shirts and low-top trainers for the boys, and my uniform of tiny short skirt, thick black tights, the aforementioned low-top trainers, little T-shirt with a 'provocative' slogan and a jacket with a fake-fur collar.

Waiting till after 6 to call my friends on our home phone (with a dial) until I got busted by dad.
Spending 10 quid on a night out in the local pub. (Alcopops and bottled cider)
Heather shimmer, silver eyeshadow and skinny eyebrows
Home-grown festival/raves in fields
The pre-party with my friends (bottle of taboo and finishing makeup) being more fun than the night out.

The series 'spaced' nailed the late nineties for me! I would have aspired to look like Twist but really dressed like Daisy.

I love reading these!

I was a kid in the 90s, just turned a teen towards the end.

I remember playing board games with my pals, I think one was called Dream Phone? It was very American and silly, but fun.
Another one was called Atmosfear - you got a video with it and this scary man in a hood would talk to you and pause at all the right moments, so pre teen me thought he was really talking to us the first time we played it🤣
I was also an avid reader of Point Horror books. They were brilliant.

When did they stop printing jokes on the ice lolly sticks?

Was there a shop called The Pier in the 90s or did I imagine it?

Yes, there was; some furniture, cushions, crockery, and other household guff like fairy lights, candlesticks etc. Think it went bust only relatively recently (unless I'm making that up).

I miss nights out swigging 20/20 and Diamond White, dancing to Corona - Rhythm of the Night and Strike- U Sure Do. Before going out my friend and I would drink a bottle of peach concord wine.
I loved the Boots 17 nail varnish called Dragons Blood and I remember a make up brand called Sensiq too.

Ahh what a lovely post 😍 Some fond memories (literally afew of so many possible ones) from the 90s for me are....

  • Bubble backpacks and inflatable chairs
  • Platform shoes
-The Spice girls, All saints, Backstreet boys, Boyzone & B*witched
  • Scented and glittery gel pens
  • TY beanie babies
  • Dear diary organisers
-Penny sweets
  • Tamagotchis
  • Slimy aliens in eggs (that apparently had babies when you put them in the fridge?!)
  • Light up Yo-Yos
  • Freddos being 10p!
  • Toys in cereal boxes (and digging through the box as soon as it was opened to find them!)
  • Going to woolworths to buy the latest singles on cassette or CD

1996 was my perfect 90s year. It was a really hot summer, I'd landed my first proper job as a graduate and moved into a flat in a trendy part of Liverpool with my amazing boyfriend. The Euro 96 football was taking place, life literally couldn't get any better - we spent our summer socialising and enjoying the Britpop.

I actually cry sometimes when I listen to 90s music on the radio, it reminds me of a carefree time.

Oh I was in Liverpool that year too! It was probably the best year of my life. Spent every weekend in the Krazy House and Euro 96 meant it was open till 4am or something. Just great great times.
